Upper Eyelift Surgery - had it done a year ago

I had upper eyelift surgery (Blepharoplasty) done a year ago in Essex to fix drooping eyelids (see before and after pics) which became more noticeable as I got older. Finally, I plucked up courage to get it done but at the time found it hard to source real life experiences of the surgery, the after effects and final results on the internet from those in the UK.. So, if you are thinking of having it done and need to ask about it, feel free!

I had it done, local anaesthetic with sedation as a day case and home the same evening.
Cost around 2,500?
Cosmetically it continues to improve even a year or more later.
Wish I had done it sooner.

I was referred to nhs by Specsavers for my droopy eyelid. The surgeon said it was caused by a dropped eyebrow and the op took a slice away from above the eyebrow. Done under local with the awful smell of burning flesh as it was cauterised. Hurt for a couple of days after and have a small scar above the eyebrow which my fringe covers. Did worry that I’d look quizzical but both brows seem to match and droopy eyelid has gone.

PollyPerkins you definitely can have it done on the NHS as i said in my earlier post,if it affecting your sight
I had my under general, but i have no scar,it was done so the stitches were under the skin and dissolved naturally

I had the procedure done at Springfield Hospital in Chelmsford with Prof. James Frame. I did my research on him and he also came highly recommended. He was so nice and very respected in the field of aesthetics. A safe pair of hands.

I also have very droopy eyelids and so did my father. He did have upper eye lid surgery (local anesthetic) on the NHS which was very successful. I would also like to have surgery to correct my droopy eyelids. Would need to have it done privately as my eyesight doesn't appear to be affected by this Yet. How do I find a good surgeon to do this. Are you able to say which surgeon did yours Burmesecatlover? Amazing results

The details are in the OP's post immediately above yours.

I am 63 and have extremely poor sight. This has been the case since infancy. My vision is -14 and I also have astigmatism. I have developed a cataract in my left eye which has 'matured' very quickly. My right eye is also now developing a cataract. I am being put forward for surgery. I gather that the process of operating on the eyes for this can result in drooping eyelids. In most cases this reverses itself within 6 months. I think the NHS will rectify if there is still a problem. Will keep people posted (wish they would treat bags under my eyes at same time smile

I have a friend in Australia who had her upper eyelids lifted at the same time as the cataract operation.
The results were remarkable but I presume this was done privately.

That result has been very satisfactory and well worth the effort.
May I ask a some impolite questions? (Shoot me down if this is a step too far).
1. Was it very painful?
2. Approx how much did it cost (£100s, £1000s)?
3. How do you go about finding a good surgeon?
I'm sure every case is different, but you've knocked years off your face, well done!

As soon as you mentioned Essex I knew you were going to say James Frame. He’s brilliant. He did my lower face lift and blepharoplasty twelve years ago and I still get compliments.
