Trends you'll be glad to see the back of and won't miss one bit.

Boxy tops with no shape.
Oversized clothes. I work hard to try and keep my waist. No ways am I hiding it in shapeless boxy tops.
Ditto oversized clothing.
High-waisted trousers. I prefer mid rise.

Bit of a contentious one but I'm sick of seeing white trainers etc everywhere. I went for a meal the other day and every woman seemed to be wearing a dress with white trainers.
So uninspiring and if your feet are larger than a size 5, white makes them look huge

What are yours?

I too hate that growly voice that most young female Americans have adopted Glasgo. It ruins any programme I’m watching. Unfortunately, as usual it has found it’s way to the UK. ?

Ditsy prints. Some might like them, I just think they’re horribly twee.
Unforgiving high neck or high round neck dresses. A scoop, v or square is usually far more flattering.
Wide leg trousers/palazzo pants. As someone here has already said, only good on tall skinny people.
Baggy tunic tops. Can make you look so shapeless if you are not careful.
Ruffled or pussy cat bow blouses (not so bad if they’re not actually tied in a pussy cat bow!).
Thick cleated sole boots which would be more at home on a building site!
Emerald green anything! Quite fashionable now, but as a redhead my mum dressed me in this colour all the time! Just-no!
Lots of other little niggles-a wonder I have any clothes at all!

SHACKETS...Grrr I am looking for a nice new, even unusual ,jacket, I do not want builders shirts in every colour . I don't want a shirt, I don't want a shoat, I just want a JACKET !!!

rocketstop Wed 30-Mar-22 14:45:09

Also...(Grumpy woman alert) Since when did everything become an 'Edit' .???? Everytime you look on line for clothes 'Here is our skirt Edit' ... 'Spring fashion edit you won't want to miss' ''it's time to say hello to our shoe edit'
Argghhh why can't they edit themselves ?

It's not fashion, but the trend for reality TV gets on my t*ts/chest! All these young plastic wannabees wearing dresses that reach their hips, flirting and fluttering their eyelashes. I don't watch these progs, but when flicking through channels they come up.

Ginpin Wed 30-Mar-22 14:58:27

People dropping / swallowing 't' in words , especially youngsters being interviewed on television.
My grandchildren get told, I'm afraid! grin

I'd be glad to see the back of my crutches except they are here to stay, at least until I need a wheelchair.

'Woke' means waking from slumber in my language, but seems to crop up all the time.

I'd like to see the back of Covid, Putin, and BJ (all n the same day if possible).

I want to see the back of our world of the me me me people, and to be really honest I'd
Iike to say goodbye to my life, except I know how bad that would feel for my husband, and he doesn't deserve that. I'd like to say goodbye to all the pain and suffering in the world, but that won't happen either

Tight leggings worn as trousers. Seriously do not need to see so much detail!

Frankie51 Wed 30-Mar-22 15:16:04

Just one complaint about dress length. Most shops have frocks which are midi length, a high necks,. It looks very "prairie /puritan" Lovely on slim tall women, not so on curvy and short me. The high neck isn't flattering for ample bosoms, the midi length is floor length on me and makes me look squat.

I have a pair of white trainers in their box, unworn. In warm weather I like to always wear sandals.

I agree about the furry fake eyebrows and the thick make look.

I do love flowery dresses though!

Duvetdiva Wed 30-Mar-22 15:40:54

Tops with a longer back than front. If anything I’d rather hide my tummy than my bottom please!
Also ankle grazers or mid calf trousers. They suit some women but sadly not me

susieboo Wed 30-Mar-22 16:18:08

Why does every single women's clothes shop insist that we all like the same fashion . My pet hate is tight frilly necked tops and dresses .

susieboo Wed 30-Mar-22 16:23:03

Me again! I also can’t stand the fact that certain women think that they all have to look the same , with the big eyebrows , false lashes and puffed up lips . It’s so refreshing to see a young girl with just a hint of make- up looking very natural .

Patsytaylor Wed 30-Mar-22 16:59:08

Ripped Jeans. Worse on fat legs!
Cold shoulder
Tattoos
Very short shorts exposing bum cheeks
Piercings
Massive eyelashes. They are so fake

I feel sad when people can’t identify as either male or female. I was a tomboy but was never confused about my pronouns. I know that some have real difficulty with the gender assignment they were given at birth and that it has been possible to resolve this but I feel that it has now become a ‘thing ‘ even amongst primary school children. A little boy at my granddaughter’s birthday party asked me to call him by the girls’ name he had chosen as he hadn’t decided on his gender . He was 9 and I felt that he had heard and seen too much of things that shouldn’t have been of concern to him. ( He’s back to being he/him now).

I absolutely hate 3/4 sleeves especially in what is meant to be warmer clothes. If it cold enough to go mad and wear a cashmere jumper what is the point of the sleeves not reaching your wrists and it should have a long line too , not just to the waist.? I hate any 3/4 sleeves anyway, if you put a cardigan or jacket over it the wretched sleeve makes an annoying ruckle. They think we are stupid and it is a fashion, whereas it is just a way to put less into each jumper. I have suggested to one manufacturer that they have perhaps 3 or 4 of their jumpers that you could choose to have a longer line coming well down. They could just keep it at the headquarters, you try on the short one to see if yo like the pattern/colour on you and then they can send you the longer jumper. To me that makes sense, if it is popular they will see there is a market for it, if not they havent lost much , I wear what I like and what I have that suits what I do. I am a singer so I do have long black velvet style skirts and trousers and bought a great bargain - to me - of a kingfisher blue shirtwaister silk shirt long sleeved. Never dates , looks fine in a church and feel lovely. Paid £12.50 for it about 6 years ago. also have a Batic Geruda long dress and one or two other things that look smart and feel comfortable to sing in. Then the rest of the time it is mostly trousers and cotton and fine wool jumpers in the winter, and thin cotton trousers or shorts and t shirts in the summer. I have sensitive skin so have to be careful what I wear. Cant use ordinary wool jumpers, come up in bumps so save my money and watch out for the sales of cashmere jumpers and then look after them and always hand wash them. So now have about 7 from 2 that are fit to be seen out and are light and easy to put in a rucksac, and 5 that are getting a bit past it but are fine for the garden and for wearing in the house, not putting the heating on. I dont waste money on clothes but quite happy to find that the things that I am wearing happen to be in fashion or the colour is popular sometimes.

Ugh all that eye makeup! They must have strong eye lids! Ha! I love trainers, but never white. They remind me of nurses shoes... Ugh

Dempie55 Wed 30-Mar-22 17:42:13

Cockapoos, labradoodles and French bloody bulldogs!

Cockapoos, labradoodles and French bloody bulldogs!

Our vet says he loves it if someone brings in a real dog. Think he must mean proper sized as opposed to all these little cockerpoos that every other person seems to own these days.

Grantanow Wed 30-Mar-22 18:05:25

Boris Johnson: he's certainly gone on for far too long.

Blossoming Wed 30-Mar-22 18:58:07

I will be glad to see the back of long gingham dresses with frills, flounces and tiers.

Oh yes. They would look awful on most people.

Blossoming Wed 30-Mar-22 19:08:03

madeleine I’m with you on the 3/4 sleeves!

Curlywhirly Wed 30-Mar-22 19:15:23

Madeleine45 I too think manufacturers are missing a trick - I have the opposite problem to you - because I am small I love 3/4 sleeves (which invariably are bracelet length on me) and I definitely don't want a longer length jumper, which ends up looking like a mini dress! I do wish that jumpers could be bought in different lengths. Recently, M and S (online) offered a t shirt in 3 different lengths, genius!

i am a big lady 22/24 and i have never followed any of the trends, but some i wish would go are the skin tight jeggings/leggings, nothing worse than seeing a large lady with those an a thong under them (my late partner used to say....it's like two wanes fighting under a blanket) i also hate ripped jeans.
