Bar shampoo - anyone ever tried it?

I bought some bar shampoo and bar conditioner to try and reduce the plastic that comes into my house. Used it today for the first time - it did a good job.

Anyone else tried it?

I need to make myself a bag for the shampoo bars. I made the mistake of buying one from Nuddy to go with theirs - it’s tiny, way too small for purpose so you have to wait till the bar’s completely dry and ram it in.

On the plus side, their shampoo bars for fine hair are great. smile

Tried several but all make my head itch so reverted to liquid, Only wash once a week though and have refillable bottle.

yes i tried the Poundland one, which is supposed to be shampoo and conditioner, in banana flavour and papaya, since its not liquid its good for taking abroad and i have to say its not bad at all, and i have long hair, lasts a long time too.

My daughter has a subscription with Gruum so she gave me a bar. It smells delightful and does a great job on my hair. And most importantly, it has longevity, seems to be lasting forever which has to be good both for the pocket and the environment smile

"The Soap Mine" does wonderful shampoo and conditioner bars as well as hand made soaps.

I’m a convert to bars for both shampoo and conditioner. Bought from Lush and are pink, can’t remember any name but for dry hair and I’ve found both to be good and very long lasting. My shampoo bar is disappearing faster than the conditioner yet I use both every wash, weekly for me.
One good thing is the conditioner bar is differently shaped so no confusing it with the shampoo when the specs are off in the shower.
There is a cork holder with a lid you can buy but only the shampoo bar fits it. I like someone’s idea of a string bag to hang them in. One to add to the crochet ‘to do’ list.

Great! You've given me an idea for something USEFUL to crochet and also to give (together with a bar of shampoo)!

Giulia, glad to have been of help.
No idea how long mine will remain on the to-do list tho, am still out in the garden so much and also have a crochet blanket to finish first.

I've been using L'Occitane bar shampoo for a couple of years. It's expensive but lasts for months. All the talk of Fairy soap reminds me of when I started doing MiL's shopping and found Fairy household soap on the list. I had no idea anyone still used it and had difficulty finding any.

I have just purchased for the princely sum of £1 a bar of combined shampoo and conditioner from Poundland. It's not a very large item (so may be a false economy) - about 3" wide - but I look forward to good results.

Bought my first bar shampo and conditioner bars from my local EcoShop last week. Used them yesterday. The shampoo didn't lather, even on second soaping, and the conditioner has left my hair feeling like it's been dipped in something sticky when "dry". Rinsed it again and still feels tacky after drying. Got to go out and buy proper shampoo and conditioner now.

I buy shampoo bars from ‘Sarah’s Soapary’. Good lather, no need for conditioner.

I've tried quite a few and not found one to my liking until earlier this year.

Thought I might be too old to convert, especially as I'm now blessed with what I like to call a full mane of 'silver hair'.

It's not been an easy search but I've eventually settled on this 100% natural purple shampoo bar from a small UK company (recommended to me), so better to support the locals not the big ones in this economic climate! thesolidbarcompany.com/collections/shampoo-bars-uk/products/luxury-purple-shampoo

I am using Bar shampoo and conditioner and the results are quite good. Just 1 month ago I started getting dandruff, I am not sure what was the reason and I applied the bar shampoo and conditioner the result was good but didn't help me to get rid of dandruff. So in the end, I tried homemade remedies for dandruff and It really worked. Now again I am using the bar shampoo and conditioner and all fine.
