ladies, I'd love to hear your recommendations for what nightwear you're wearing. Going into the colder months, I struggle with where to buy my nightwear, I like it to be warm but not fleecey! Also I'm usually a pj wearer but I'd be open to trying something new if anyone has any good suggestions! Thankyou smile no budget if its worth the money !

I find lots of layers are key to keeping warm, must have my neck covered up and I definitely wear socks. I have been known to actually wear a hoody in bed, if your head as well as your feet are warm it really helps. 15 tog duvet and electric underblanket are also a must. I could look a bit like a bookmark I have so many layers on!

Chanel No 5 - and a mink coat.

Ha! Love it.

Surely just the Chanel No 5? 😂Otherwise for your OH it would be like sleeping alongside a dog.

Yes, it was just Chanel No 5 and it was Marilyn Monroe's answer when asked what she wore in bed, but as this thread is about warm nightwear for winter and I have my doubts about the thermal qualities of Chanel No 5, I decided that, in the British winter it would be best paired wit a mink coat.

If your DH doesn't like the dog like feel, wear it inside out with the fur side inside.

When it’s really cold here ( I am a big wuz because it doesn’t get super cold in Oz) I wear socks and trackie daks to bed with a long sleeved cotton top. Very comforting. I don’t ever heat the bedrooms because I don’t believe in it.

Long sleeved nightshirts in winter, tee shirt and cropped pants in summer or nothing if it’s very hot.
I’m a chilly individual.

All depends on the weather but normally something lacy and a bit slinky. If it’s totally freezing then I may wear shorts and vest top.No socks needed as I put cold feet on DP ( he shrieks)😃

This made me smile Oreo 😊. Mr PG has footwarming thighs…no need for a hot water bottle 😂

I am always cold in bed even in the summer so nice thick pjs and in winter with a fleecy hoody thing over the top two duvets and two hot water bottles top and bottom

I like a warm bed in a cool room, so sometimes get into bed with PJs, bedsocks and an electric blanket. If the bedroom is on the chilly side I feel cosy and comfy in bed, so find it easier to sleep (I am an insomniac). The socks are never on when I wake up though - they get kicked off as the night progresses.

I used to wear nothing until quite recently but since I turned 80 I wear pyjama bottoms and camisole tops with bed socks if it is really cold as I can’t sleep if my feet are cold.

Just old t shirts , some have holes in them, my other half thinks they're embarrassing being on the line. My step daughter said when she saw one "have you thought of getting rid of them?" Me "no I see no reason to do that, I don't wear them out" I have respectable brushed cotton pyjamas but they make me too hot.

I'm very much the same and I think I'd like some nice new ones that i can answer the door in grin

In the winter I wear a long sleeveless cotton nightdress. In the summer I wear a short cotton sleeveless nightdress. I have no heating on in my bedroom and at least one window is open. I usually have a summer weight duvet all year round but if it’s hot I just have a cotton sheet.

I have cotton nighties (VERY old), do you find them cool in the winter? and do you find the sleeves make a difference?

Oh I wish i could say the same! where do you buy your slinkies? smile

TerriBull Thu 12-Sept-24 09:30:40

littlenanaj I have decent night wear without holes but I shun them for my old rags 'cos they're comfy.grin

TerriBull Thu 12-Sept-24 09:32:20

I do have a luxurious dressing gown one of my sons bought me to answer the door in, usually dressed by then in clothes without holes grin

annodomini Thu 12-Sept-24 10:29:29

Winter and summer, I have the same cotton nighties - M&S. short sleeved and knee length. I change to the heavier duvet and warm the bed with the electric blanket. Instead of a dressing gown, at breakfast time I have plaid PJ trousers from Landsend and one of a selection of fleeces.

henetha Thu 12-Sept-24 10:32:30

Cotton pyjamas with long sleeves. I bought another pair in M&S yesterday for only £12.50.

annodomini Thu 12-Sept-24 10:43:38

PS I forgot to mention my obligatory bed socks for my perpetually cold feet - cosy alpaca ones.

sazz1 Thu 12-Sept-24 11:55:36

Long sleeve cotton Tshirt in winter. Short sleeve Tshirt in summer
and knickers.

dalrymple23 Thu 12-Sept-24 11:59:41

Cotton PJs, pullover, hotties, two Retrievers and a man! The fight for the duvet can be problematic, though.

suelld Thu 12-Sept-24 12:12:26

Long sleeved cotton, full length Nightdress. Can’t stand PJs…need to have air ‘down there’. It’s also better for NOT helping UTIs. I wear trousers/ jeansp everyday, and it’s a relief to get an airing at night!

I have been known to wear a dressing gown and balaclava on very cold nights…everything else was warm under the duvets but my nose is always freezing !

Patsytaylor Thu 12-Sept-24 12:35:28

Brushed cotton pj's.
Not clothes but I love my weighted blanket

leeds22 Thu 12-Sept-24 12:36:27

Cotton PJ bottoms and long sleeved cotton t-shirt and bed socks. 10.5 tog duvet + a fleece blanket if it is really cold but DH would probably put the central heating on if it got so bad.
