AI is ruining my enjoyment of the internet

I enjoy looking at various animal videos and looking at images both historical and present day, but I have gradually come to realise that many are now no longer “real” but images produced by an AI algorithm. Now I can’t believe any of it, and see no point in trying to fact check it all.

That along with articles/books and music being produced leave aside the political stuff.

So what on earth is the point.

That's reminded me. has anyone tried using Duck Duck something instead of Google?

I have DuckDuckGo and it works fine. You can even have an email address. I just use it instead of Google.

The sky often looks looks like a jigsaw puzzle drawn sky.
That made me smile, keepingquiet
Somewhere in a cupboard we have a jigsaw puzzle of Bourton-in-the-Water, I think it's from a painting rather than a photo.
Picture postcard perfect 😀

Mind you, I have a similar photo of my children paddling by that bridge and that looks picture postcard perfect too.
Until one splashed the other.

On! Not in.

I quite agree.

I have always enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends on Facebook but it is now just a constant stream of AI pictures and articles from sites I have no interest in which pop up constantly.

I waste so much time getting rid of these sites but as fast as you do it, several more pop up. Are people really so gullible as to believe these photos are real?

Those AI pictures of cats and babies on FB. Fed up with them but can't seem to get rid of them; they are just ridiculous.

I saw a bit on the news yesterday about Amazon selling books written entirely by AI. I think they took a number of people in a book group and asked them to read one of these AI books. They all seemed to be of the opinion that these books did not have the unique quality and perspective of an individual person but were formulaic and rather dull. I hope this is not going to be the way forward. Surely AI will mean the death of creativity and originality? "Experimental" methods of writing (like, for instance, "stream of consciousness" writing, will no longer occur.

On Facebook people are putting up images of supposed needlework, but it's obvious that much of it is computer-generated.

A few days ago a photo popped up on Facebook of 'Prince Harry and Archie', announcing that they had returned to the country and were reconciling with the King. This was preposterous, as it would have been on every front page and all over the media, but people were commenting and saying how glad they were and what a great thing to happen. The acceptance of this AI generated non story was alarming - a percentage of the population seem willing to believe something that was so false.

You soon learn how to see / notice / the difference.

...look, it does not have to be AI to be a lie. Look up Jo Ellis, and you will know what I mean. www.msn.com/en-in/public-safety-and-emergencies/traffic-and-transportation-incidents/i-am-alive-joe-ellis-trans-hawk-pilot-releases-video-after-being-linked-to-washington-plane-crash-who-is-she/ar-AA1yg3LW?ocid=BingNewsSerp

I saw that!
My immediate reaction was to think what a beautiful child, but I doubt it even was Archie anyway.
My second was to check out the story, then delete it. How many people complained about it, I wonder?

Even some posts on here seem as if they are AI or at least copied and pasted from AI.

Surely the thing is people are producing AI videos deliberately to stir up trouble. Look at the things on line abut the Royal family, Price Harry and his wife. Really preposterous things but a lot of people especially from other countries believe these things are real. I saw one this morning that said Queen Camilla and her family were planning to ‘sell the Crown Jewels and share the money between them’ if you are British you would know it is complete rubbish but the foul comments from people makes you realise people are believing these lies and they are influencing people and the way they are viewing them. Not just insults to the Royal family but politicians in fact anyone in the public eye and it is influencing the way people believe. What is true what is lies, how do you tell the difference?

There is some stunning artwork done by AI.
