I loved this programme and the new series starts in two weeks, only ten episodes this time instead of twenty.Sara Lund wears a new jumper, a red one, but after showing the series in Denmark in her new jumper, the fans didn't like it, so half way through she wears again her patterned one!!! Anyone not seen the first series, watch this, it is absolutely brilliant.

Yes Hattie64 ...I watched the 1st series ...fortunately when it was repeated ...four nights a week ...so only took 5 weeks ...don't think I'd have remembered the ramifications if it had been weekly confused

So yes, will watch the new series ...but which channel? night?

crimson Fri 04-Nov-11 20:15:40

Do you think it might be a disappointment? I'm only saying this because I'venever been so absorbed by a tv series before and nothing can possibly be as good..can it?

crimson Fri 04-Nov-11 20:16:16

..and just a reminder that there is a threat to the BBC4 budget...

Notsogrand Fri 04-Nov-11 20:28:02

I missed the first series. Will the second series make sense without having seen the first?

crimson Fri 04-Nov-11 20:50:04

Don't worry; the first series didn't make sense either..you just let it sort of wash over you...

Loved it! Loved the jumper too, but did you see what it costs? One disadvantage with progs like The Kiling, Wallander etc is that you have to be facing the screen to read the subtitles, not as I often do, fiddling on the laptop with the TV in the background! On the other hand, when littlest fella was having a sleepover with us and we were tiptoe-ing round the house, watching TV in total silence had its advantages.
Can't wait!

crimson Fri 04-Nov-11 21:20:00

That makes it almost like being at the cinema, because you don't move around or talk to anyone while it's on.

Watched The Killing on iPlayer and then persuaded my husband to watch the repeats with me (he usually has to have his feet nailed to the floor to watch anything at all); happily he was as enthralled as I was and he couldn't wait to watch each episode. We are now in a state of great anticipation.

Jacey, I would imagine it will be on BBC4 on Saturdays. This series doesn't focus on the family of the victim, so I read, it is mainly about Sara. I don't care what it is about, just watching a great series is all I need.

crimson Sat 05-Nov-11 20:26:59

I've booked theatre tickets for a couple of Saturday nights; I'm so annoyed with myself [I don't know how to work my new recording thingy either]. I know it's usually repeated later in the week, but it's not the same [and my iplayer has gone into stoppystarty mode].

i watched the first 4 episodes on plane. Rather annoying - they didn't have the whole series available. Might have to get the box set. I thought the acting so absorbing that subtitles were not a problem. I had a strange parallel universe experience on another plane where they had a really dire american version. Same story with bad acting etc. Rather a dream like experience. I turned off.

crimson Sat 05-Nov-11 21:35:21

The box set was really cheap soon after the series ended but i'm afraid i'ts shot up in price now. They repeated it on BBC4 not long ago. The more I think about it, the more I realise the music was very important. And scandinavian films and television are happy to use older women.

JessM Sun 06-Nov-11 09:25:57

I will put it on xmas list maybe. I never know what to "ask for" other than Oxfam toilets etc.

Jacey Sun 06-Nov-11 13:15:03

Thanx Hattie64 ...will program it into the automatic view thingy!!

Hattie64 Sun 06-Nov-11 19:26:18

I love my 'automatic view thingy' in my case a Virgin box, tapes series etc. without me reminding it. Also catch up tv is great as well. We mainly have Virgin for Sky sports, which I loath, my old mans favourite viewing!!!

Really looking forward to the new series as I was totally hooked by the first. And for the hard-of-hearing like me the integrated subtitles are bliss - so much better than the black band that obscures some of the picture, with some of the dialogue missed out or abbreviated, which is what you get with the regular subtitling on UK TV.

Hattie64 Tue 15-Nov-11 20:22:59

Its official, it starts this coming Saturday, two, one hour episodes. In the Radio Times there is even a knitting pattern for the new red sweater!!!

olliesgran Tue 15-Nov-11 20:36:39

I really enjoyed the first serie. Real program for adults, not kidults, and its following shows that there is an audience for this sort of program, so why are they so rare?? Can't wait for the second serie to start on Saturady, but a bit afraid that they won't be able to sustain such quality? Fingers crossed

crimson Tue 15-Nov-11 21:33:11

She's going to be on the French and Saunders Christmas show, I believe; with sweater.

ameliaanne Wed 16-Nov-11 13:25:08

LOVED the first series! Always record the episodes as I am not too good at sitting in one place for any length of time without fidgeting........ Looking forward to Series 2.

grannyactivist Sun 20-Nov-11 21:20:35

Husband's away and I'm looking after poorly grandson, so haven't caught up with the new series yet. Has anyone got any observations?

crimson Sun 20-Nov-11 21:56:14

It hasn't 'grabbed' me in the way the first series did, but I think perhaps that took a few episodes to work it's magic. Repeated on Wednesday night so I'm going to re watch it [can't record things!]. I wonder if there's a blog going on about it somewhere..there was for the first series..The Guardian I think.

Mishap Sun 20-Nov-11 22:30:23

I was as impressed with the first two episodes of series two and will no doubt be glued to it for the duration!

crimson Sun 20-Nov-11 22:54:23

Mishap;Check out the Guardian blog; you can discuss your theories with other like minded people. grannyactivist; my one concern is the storyline of this series; I hope you don't find it touches a few raw nerves with you..I wouldn't want that to happen.
