Christmas TV

oooops; it's 7 pm

We probably all have our own idea of what constitutes a 'good' programme Tegan! . Haven't looked at the Christmas tv offerings yet.

We Don"t watch much TV over Christmas, okay might dip into things here and there , but certainly don"t sit glued to the box.

Much prefer card and board games and lots of gaiety

However, I do realize that some do enjoy the TV over Christmas, and why wouldn't they, each to their own.

Haven't looked at it yet except did read in the paper there will be another call the midwife special. Will be watching that!

I know people were complaining there are lots of repeats but to be honest I'd much rather watch some of the old comedy series repeats than any of the modern so called comedy shows... I just don't find them funny.

I must remember to record that ballet, Tegan - thanks. The family will doubtless want to watch the Dr Who special - after the now obligatory charades.

I said this evening that I think this year's Christmas TV is set o be the worst for years. I wish they would either repeat or remake some of the children's classics like The Children of Greenknowe and The Box of Delights. I'd like to see the Christmas story that Eddie Izzard was in a couple of years ago again.

Nonu unfortunately some of us have little else. Thankfully I loathe card and board games but a tad difficult to play on my own.

There are 3 programmes I will watch on Christmas Day so that is enough for me. I am a big fan of Downton.

I scream at the thought of watching the Christmas episode of Vicar of Dibly again.

Haven't seen the schedule but the family are coming Boxing Day so TV will definitely be off.

As long as Dr Who is on I'll be OK.

We don't have telly as an important part of Christmas any more, just record or iplayer and watch later.

I remember the whole family gathering to watch Morecambe and Wise etc. on Christmas Day. The big film was one we had been waiting ages to watch as the cinema was a big treat and there were no DVDs or Netflix and so on.

Some of the kids stuff looks OK this year - Professor Branestawm (I loved the books!), Esio Trott and the David Walliams one. I like Call the Midwife, Downton and am an Eastenders addict (but will have to watch alone on another day....is there an Eastenders Anonymous?).

I hate made for Christmas TV and like others we're not bothered what's on really as we are lucky enough to be with family this year there will be a lot of sitting round the kitchen table yarning and then some laying on the sofa yawning!! Would like a big film though - doesn't matter how many times I've seen it if its good.

Deedaa I loved The Box of Delights, I remember when it was on tv in installments and my DS1 and I were both utterly transfixed! Ended up buying it on video, no DVD's at that time!

I dont watch as much christmas tv as I used to.
I wonder whether it is partly because I am older.

For instance, this week I think, there is a programme called best 50 magic tricks or something.
Normally I would go, yes video that.
Now I am like, well if I see it I do, and if not, I will soon forget about it.

I haven't seen the Christmas TV guide yet, but no doubt there will be the usual mix of good and bad. For those of us who live alone television is wonderful. But I am not glued to it day and night. I use my laptop and tablet, I read a lot, I knit, I go for walks,.... but television is a welcome distraction.

I agree henetha when you live alone the TV is a good distraction, although I have my set of Christmassy DVDs which I will watch : A Wonderful Life, White Christmas, Holiday Inn, A Christmas Carol and Scrooge! I will also go for a long walk across the fields after lunch, visit family on Boxing Day and, of course, there is always GN!

I haven't seen the Christmas listings yet either but will be watching Downton [love it.] Got plenty of dvd's to watch anyway and books to read.Always end up watching films on my own as DH goes to sleep about 20 mins into any film, unless we are actually in a cinema[which is so blasting loud it would keep anybody wide awake.]

phoenix my DS bought me the video of The Box of Delights and I've since replaced it with the DVD. I am cautiously optimistic about Professor Branestawm, I don't normally like Harry Hill but this looks as if it might suit him. I never read the books when I was a child so I shall be interested to see if I enjoy it.
