RIP Demi's Rousos, the voice of the holiday romance sad also known, but affectionately, as " the singing tent",

I think it was The singing Kaftan Terry Wogan called him. I too miss Terry, but at least we get him on Sundays now

Soutra Tue 27-Jan-15 17:53:40

Huge nutcrackers or huge nut crackers?grin

KatyK Tue 27-Jan-15 17:12:42

I too thought he'd died years ago. I also think of Abigail's party. It was repeated recently - oh how the memories came flooding back.

janerowena Tue 27-Jan-15 15:03:44

grin vaguely.

Perhaps more than a bit disrespectful, but does anyone else remember a sketch (can't remember who by, could have been Kenny Everett or even the Two Ronnies!) where someone was under the kaftan with a huge set of nutcrackers?

nightowl Mon 26-Jan-15 23:41:53

I thought he was much older than that as well Anya. In fact I'm still convinced he was confused

I've always thought it was Dennis.

janerowena Mon 26-Jan-15 22:48:16

So did I.

Anya Mon 26-Jan-15 22:45:47

He was only 68. I thought he was much older than that hmm

janerowena Mon 26-Jan-15 22:40:51

It was Terry Wogan, wasn't it, who used to call him The Singing Frock.

I miss his show.

janerowena Mon 26-Jan-15 22:39:56

grin

merlotgran Mon 26-Jan-15 22:01:41

I remember he was on a plane which was hijacked by Hezbollah back in the eighties. The rumour was they released him after four days because he offered to sing for them. grin

Penstemmon Mon 26-Jan-15 21:47:56

Both Alison Steadman and Demis had a good taste in kaftans!

feetlebaum Mon 26-Jan-15 21:42:02

Farewell to the Singing Frock... yia sou, Demis...

kittylester Mon 26-Jan-15 21:03:45

I can see her now, merlot, swaying about in her maxi-dress! grin

(She was actually pregnant when they filmed that, I read some years ago.)

Can't hear 'Forever and Ever' without thinking of Alison Steadman as Bev in 'Abigail's Party' grin

POGS Mon 26-Jan-15 20:21:00

Not alone folks.

Both hubby and I thought he had died ages ago too.

'Ever and ever' was a favourite of ours moons agoago, when romance wasn't dead.

janerowena Mon 26-Jan-15 20:03:21

I think I must have thought he died when he had his previous big heart attack.

loopylou Mon 26-Jan-15 20:00:22

Crikey rosequartz, nearly 40 years ago...... The summer of the heatwave that lasted for months.....

rosequartz Mon 26-Jan-15 19:55:30

He was younger than me. sad
RIP

1976 - For ever and ever.

loopylou Mon 26-Jan-15 19:52:40
