I thought the Elizabeth fron the original series was better; she always reminded me of a porcelein [sp] doll [she was American y'know].

But I did enjoy it. Very much!

Is Elizabeth true to the character in the book? Delicate and beautiful?

And Demelza is supposed to be 13.
She looks older than that.

I agree with you about Elizabeth. She seemed a bit drippy to me.

Chavenage House, Tetbury, Gloucestershire is Trenwith, the home of Charles Poldark. (So it's not Cornwall after all. That's a shame, there are nice manor houses here they could have used.)

I lived in Cornwall for a while and am far from an expert but the accents sounded ok to me. Aidan doesn't always photograph well which is why he needs to be seen inthefleshasitwere......

I wasn't bothered about whether or not the accents were authentic because at least you could hear what the actors were saying.....unlike Jamaica Inn.

I have it recorded. I am looking forward to it now after these posts. There is a lot of criticism about the accents? Is it warranted I wonder?

I loved it. I didn't see the 1970's original, so I've nothing to compare it to. I haven't read the books either, so it's all new to me. I look forward to Sunday nights now. At last, something decent to watch!

It was quite entertaining but a bit "over acted" I thought.

I really enjoyed the scenery though (and I don't mean Aiden Turner!) because we had our first family holiday in Botallack, near St Just where I think this is filmed. I love that part of the country. It has a very special atmosphere.

I watched this with some trepidation, fearing it could never live up to the original Poldark. But it did! I thought it was great in every way.
And, I was mesmerised by Aiden Turner and went weak kneed with lust and longing! What a fantastic looking chap!
The whole cast were brilliant. I loved it.

Tegan he also played a vampire in "Being Human", you can see why can't you?

You'd better not watch Game of Thrones then, nina; headstomping is nothing comapred to what happens in that .

I had an inkling about this so I just looked it up as it dawned on me that he played Rossetti in the dramatisation about the Pre Raphaelites; I had thought that that was years ago so it couldn't be him but it is.

Won't stop me watching. I just shut me eyes for those bits

Great, apart from the violence. I know it was integral and there will be more, but I just can't watch people having their head stomped on.

He was in The Hobbit films, rose; that's when I fell in love with him. I was in two minds about watching Poldark but that swayed me. There aren't many things that I watch purely because a certain actor or actress is in them.
