I watched the first series because it was compulsive viewing, but found it v disturbing. Now I'm thinking, Do I watch the next, or leave it alone? Out of interest ,does anyone else share that view.

Unless she put the gun in her mouth and pulled the trigger with her toe! hmm

Ana Thu 10-Mar-16 17:51:26

Charleygirl - that gun had a very long barrel...

Marmark1 Thu 10-Mar-16 17:45:11

Daryl was Pythagoras in Atlantic. And I bet he's not the murderer,

gettingonabit Thu 10-Mar-16 17:36:44

She's from Linlithgow.

I need to get out moregrin

Charleygirl Thu 10-Mar-16 17:35:50

Ana there is a possibility that she put the gun in her mouth!!!

Ana Thu 10-Mar-16 17:10:21

PS I think Creepy Woman is actually Scottish! grin

Ana Thu 10-Mar-16 17:09:34

POGS he stood Ann up last week - she mentioned it to Daniel in the latest episode.

I agree with you that Daryl murdered the prostitutes, and there's no way his mum could have shot herself with that shotgun unless it was in the foot...

POGS Thu 10-Mar-16 17:04:02

Just watched it.

I'm sticking with the farm lad as the murderer as I had intimated I thought it was him previously.

I still think that Ann will find out the truth behind the detective , there was no show of them 'getting together' this week , keeping it for next episode. Or Clare's boyfriend tells the truth that he was blackmailed by nude photos like she did to Downtown Abbey.

I hope Catherine is asleep in the conservatory when the obvious molatoff cocktail gets chucked and she chucks the little irish pip squeak in there while Catherine gets the family out of the house.

Horrid aren't I. shock

gettingonabit Thu 10-Mar-16 16:25:02

Thanks, jingls. So it's not just me who thinks Farmer Woman could have shot herself!

tanith Thu 10-Mar-16 10:27:52

Didn't find any reference to him jings but apparently he's someone who featured more in the first series I don't actually remember seeing him in this series but I guess I must of missed it. He was the father of a girl who was kidnapped in the first series. still a bit confused

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 10-Mar-16 10:12:59

this helps

(Darryl was the farmer lad. Of course. hmm)

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 10-Mar-16 10:10:07

Is he the young police woman's dad? A big shot in the police himself? Or was that another programme?

Remind me who Darryl is? confused

tanith Thu 10-Mar-16 10:06:24

I was wondering that Charleygirl grin maybe we both missed something wink

Charleygirl Thu 10-Mar-16 09:58:17

Sorry but who is Nevison?

Jalima Thu 10-Mar-16 09:31:47

You don't have to like them, Marmark grin

I never thought of whether I like them or not, (the little boy is lovely), it's a case to solve! Or more, in fact

Jalima Thu 10-Mar-16 09:29:24

Using my logical head hmm I don't think it was Daryl (?) wot dun it:

I don't think he had enough hatred in him , or perversion, to murder and mutilate the women
He doesn't look like a drinker (therefore no handy bottles).
Saying 'what I did to those women' is another red herring

It could be Neil, but my money's on Nevison.
John will be linked to Vicky by some means or another (phone? Intuition of Katherine Kelly? followed by CCTV and DNA)

Marmark1 Thu 10-Mar-16 07:41:04

Watching it (Christ knows why, because I don't like anyone in it except the sister) and looking at it with my logical head,no Daryl did not say anything about murder.

Nelliemoser Thu 10-Mar-16 00:09:48

Merlot I see your point but there was info showing underneath that thread title when I was just scrolling down the list of threads.

Jalima Wed 09-Mar-16 23:18:38

Claire will be at Neil's, Ryan will be having a sleepover, not sure about Daniel, where he will be, Ann will be upstairs sleeping off another hangover and Catherine will be in the conservatory when the house is petrol-bombed.

I too think that we can't asume that the mother has shot her son, all we heard was a gunshot, it maybe that the son turned around and somehow got the gun and shot his mother.

Maybe I should nip to Hebden Bridge (only 30 mins form me) smile and run back with any info ! grin

I may be wrong, but I'm sure in the back of my mind I heard that Catherine(Sarah Lancashire) wasn't making another series ! but I could be wrong.

Also anyone that watches on "catchup" they are rushing a paper though to close the loophole to watch for free. This is to stop people who don't have tvs and use catch up as a tv but no licence, they are aiming to charge people for watching catch up tv. Grrrrrrrrrr............

gettingonabit Wed 09-Mar-16 22:09:18

ana I'm surprised that John hasn't yet been connected to Vicky's murder. He had her number, and couldn't really explain why. Also, surely Vicky's phone records would have shown activity between the two of them. No-one has mentioned this (unless I've missed something again).

I was also surprised at the length of time it took to join the dots between Ryan, the Scalextric, TLR and Creepy Girlfriend.

I'm hoping that Daryl didn't commit the murders-I want there to be more to the ending than simply that! If he has indeed been shot by his mother, he can't even stand trial. Boo.

I'm hoping for a massive, unexpected twist!

Ana Wed 09-Mar-16 21:07:30

I think a lot of those points you've raised are red herrings, gettingonabit - and don't forget they've still got to connect John (Molesley) with the Vicky Fleming murder.

Daryl (if that's what his name was) definitely referred to what he did to 'those women', not just one.

Anyway, we shall see! Wish the series could have been longer.

gettingonabit Wed 09-Mar-16 21:00:05

jalima I've watched last night's again (saddo that I am) and, to me, it does NOT appear that Daryl is confessing to the murders, as such. I believe, though, that he is connected to the final murder, and knows that his car -or a red car like his-has been seen by a witness in the area at the time of the latest murder. The police have his dna from the attack he made on the thugs who were taunting him earlier in the series. However, I don't think we've been told what the modus operandi of the final murder was (I may have missed this).

On reflection, I don't think it would be possible for the mother to shoot herself with that rifle. I think there's more to the shooting than meets the eye, though. I loved the (rather subtle) blood spatter on the window at the end too.

I was wondering about the van too, jalima. Nevison would have had access to it, presumably, while Sean was in his employ. The police would've too, of course, during their search for dna. So John may have planted evidence; is it possible that another officer eg Anne, could also have done so?

And what is it about Nevison and Anne that's unsettling? Is it the saintly, mourned wife, the fact that Anne had a drink problem? Something's definitely not right! And the relationship he has with Catherine is definitely unhealthy; I think she's foolish to encourage it, from a professional point of view. I like your theory about a possible motive! I can't see much point to Anne, or Nevison, really, in the second series if they're nothing to do with the plot.

And Neil! He's been blackmailed by one of the victims, he won't go to the police, he's capable of uncontrollable rages and he's afraid of Catherine. Very odd. DD has a theory about his working in the supermarket; that he's somehow linked to the "biscuit factory", and the trafficked girls. There must be a point to the girls, the murder of tasered bloke and the mentioning if the Knevevics (?) at regular intervals.

There's a lot to be crammed into the final episode; can't wait!

Ana Wed 09-Mar-16 20:33:04

I think the farmer virtually admitted it, and his mum seemed to have worked it out anyway. He wasn't confused or stressed like Sean was when questioned, he was just hoping his mum would sort it.

If it was Ann's dad it would take most of the last episode to find that out and explain it, and I think there's going to be too much other stuff going on!

Jalima Wed 09-Mar-16 20:14:27

I think the house will go up in flames
Well, it needs re-decorating anyway
As long as everyone is safe
