"Alas poor Scruff, I knew him well, who could forget that pungent smell?"

phoenix Mon 12-Sept-16 19:13:31

Unbelievable! Rob STILL thinks he's the victim!

Gracesgran Mon 12-Sept-16 17:16:55

Could Rob Titchener be arrested after the rape accusations?

Welcome Vintage smile

shysal Mon 12-Sept-16 15:15:29

Welcome vintage flowers, it is good to have another Archers fan along. Hope to see many more posts from you on Gransnet.

Lazigirl Mon 12-Sept-16 14:40:48

Hello Vintage. It couldn't be Kaz's partner as jurors have to declare any links or association with anyone taking part in the trial. I swore I wouldn't listen again after disappointment at way last night's epic episode was played but sadly am too much of an addict to give up so will be tuning in as usual tonight. I was glad that Helen got off in the end because of message it would have sent to abused women and am anxious to hear what will happen about custody. I think the most chilling thing about Rob confronting Helen after trial was the way he ended with something like "you're still gorgeous" and despite everything he may still have power to seduce her. It does happen!!

Sorry, should have introduced myself as this is my first posting. I only listen to The Archers when there is an exciting story-line but have been gripped by the Helen/Rob saga. My family think I'm a very sad case.

Gracesgran Mon 12-Sept-16 10:16:32

It looks as if they can. They jury is supposed to 'reflect our diverse community'

AyjayF Mon 12-Sept-16 10:12:05

Don't know anything about how jurors are selected but this has made me wish even more that I could be on a jury. Not happened yet.

merlotgran Mon 12-Sept-16 09:47:39

Can people be called for jury service if they have had a restraining order put on them?

Do they not check these things before sending out the summons?

vintage1950 Mon 12-Sept-16 09:35:58

I noticed that one of the jurors was called Blake. Wasn't that the name of Kaz's husband/partner?

merlotgran Mon 12-Sept-16 09:11:15

Well, he scared the shit out of me. I nearly choked on my porridge.

Timothy Watson does 'scary' very well indeed.

Gracesgran Mon 12-Sept-16 09:01:05

Nigel Havers speaks about juror role in The Archers

Gracesgran Mon 12-Sept-16 08:55:51

Boo, Hiss but very well done ...

I think it will in relationship to the boys HLL and, in 30 years we will see the effects on them.

The wife of the foreman of the jury had obviously put a restraining order on him; I wonder if Helen will do the same. If anything like this is believed by the family court I would have thought his contact with the boys would have to be supervised.

HannahLoisLuke Mon 12-Sept-16 08:47:03

Ive just been listening to the editor of The Archers talking about last night's episode and he said the story isn't over and could rumble on for thirty years! I do hope he was joking. He's left the programme now, at least for the time being.
I just want Rob to get his come uppance, as we all do but have a sinking feeling that we've got to put up with a lot more nastiness first.

merlotgran Mon 12-Sept-16 08:39:27

Coming up on BBC Breakfast anytime soon....Discussing the verdict and Timothy Watson (Rob) will be in the studio.

Boo! Hiss!

Iam64 Mon 12-Sept-16 07:21:59

You're right Nellie, I was so carried away with the NG verdict I'd assumed Helen's PR would top Rob's. Of course that isn't so. Can the final hearing listed at the family court go ahead in view of the verdict and the serious allegations made by Helen and Jess. This is of course, not RL but any assessments that have been completed will not be up to date will they.

Nelliemoser Sun 11-Sept-16 23:18:10

DaphneB probably because even though Helen was aquitted she did severely wound Rob and the court really have no option but to do an risk assessment to ensure that Helen is a not a risk to either child.

DaphneBroon Sun 11-Sept-16 22:37:54

Why does there have to be a Family Court hearing now Helen has been acquitted? Presumably she will be starting divorce proceedings (and three cheers if she also has him prosecuted for Coercive Conttol and rape)
But there is always the threat that he will get under her skin again, isn't there?

LullyDully Sun 11-Sept-16 22:23:31

I don't know if they will show Henry being reunited with Helen but it will be very emotional for.sure. When he sees her again all his love will be rekindled and he may refuse to go back to Rob . I do hope so.

AyjayF Sun 11-Sept-16 22:22:13

Susan will have a field day with this. Looking forward to Rob being g snubbed in the village + barred from the pub.
No job=no rent for Usha. Eviction
Please let this come to pass!

Iam64 Sun 11-Sept-16 22:15:59

Welcome back Nelliemoser, nth at was a marathon ?

Gracesgran Sun 11-Sept-16 21:36:22

I agree with everyone about Mrs Antrobuss; we could do with a character like her in the village.

Off to review the spoilers now we know the resultwink

Nelliemoser Sun 11-Sept-16 21:24:26

Well there was a marathon. I got home from holiday at about 5:30pm and had to catch up on a whole weeks episodes. That went on until the one hour episode started. I had to let it finish before I could get it on catch up.

The chilling comments of Rob leaves open a lot more material for further story lines.

Iam64 Sun 11-Sept-16 21:23:34

I was out in the garden all afternoon, trying to tidy up before it rains again. Dogs walked, evening meal prepared and ready to eat whilst we listened to the Archers. Thank goodness for the Aileen Atkins character (come back Mrs Antrobuss) and the young pharmacist who managed to get the rest of the jury to focus. I expect the bullying foreman began to loose his case when he was objectionable about his former wife.

I've been less critical of Helen than some because I have worked with/known women in her situation. I accept she and her parents were overwhelmed and emotionally exhausted but why did none of them immediately say 'what are we going to do about Henry". As Helen was found not guilty of both charges, I expect she can resume care of Henry. The court seemed to finish on a Friday, even though Sunday is usually Monday in Ambridge. This leaves Henry in the care of Rob unless Helen either goes round with her dad and takes Henry to Bridge Farm, or makes an urgent application to a family court judge.

Rob is continuing his campaign of seduction/intimidation, how chilling his comments to Helen were. Very scary and worrying that she didn't immediately tell her parents, Anna, the police? I do hope we aren't lurching into abuse Mark 2 with Helen keeping quiet about it .
All told though, the right result. Let's hope the family court hearing makes the right decision and places the children with their mother. Will Helen and Jess make formal complaints to the police? Will Rob be charged with rape and CC? I do hope so but that would need Helen to feel strong enough.

Elrel Sun 11-Sept-16 21:14:25

Jings - yes, it'll run and run,
Luckygirl - yes, plot holes all over the place - just to remind me it's not real I guess!!

merlotgran Sun 11-Sept-16 21:09:38

I'm late on parade.....Soweeeeeee.

Just got to the dum-te-dums when DGS came to say his goodbyes. He's off to uni tomorrow morning sad. Very happy for him but we'll miss him so I had a good excuse for a few tears (not just for Helen going free)

As soon as I heard that horrible misogynist foreman go into Rob mode I thought, That's it. She's free!

Rob's sinister comments must have been what Graham Seed was referring to when he said he was shocked by the ending.

Please, Helen TELL THEM what Rob has just said.

Now for Poldark's trial - At least I know the ending of that one.
