Now being reported on the BBC website so that's no more Bake Off for me then sad

vanpopple, to tell other people to "get a life" is childish, stupid, and illustrative of a herd mentality. Try to think of something more original. Then you just might fit in on Gransnet.

Which would, of course, be lovely. smile

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 13-Sept-16 17:29:21

Sorry. Back to bake off.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 13-Sept-16 17:28:57

Cameron's not mighty anymore. jess. He's the blamed. What a way to go. Stupid stupid stupid.

I love The Great British Bakeoff, and so does my 10yr. old grand daughter. We often watch it together and love every aspect of it. Yes, Paul Hollywood struts somewhat and Mary is old (complaining about someone being old on gransnet???) Mel and Sue add a touch of cheesy humour and the bakers are wonderful; I can't bake and am astounded by how good they are. The reason I would hate to see it move to channel 4 is the adverts. How can they do justice to the bakers with adverts every 15 minutes? It would take an hour long format to one and a half hours, or more probably cut time spent showing the bakers actually baking. I haven't read all the posts so someone may have made this point already.smile

Mel and Sue are good presenters either together or separately. The BBC won't want to lose them so they've probably been offered some other lucrative work.

Bake Off is tired now so expendable.

Ana Tue 13-Sept-16 17:09:16

So you do care!

vanpopple Tue 13-Sept-16 17:05:23

YIPEE ''mel & sue'' quit, thank god for that, they are like children.

Nvella Tue 13-Sept-16 16:58:04

Oh no - Mel and Sue not going across - what a shame

Otosgran Tue 13-Sept-16 16:50:55

I'm very tired of Mel and Sue's format and Paul Hollywood is so full of his own importance. I like "Bake Off" and Mary, who doesn't feel the need to show her superiority or be offensive, I'm sure new presenters will be a breath of fresh air

shirleyhick Tue 13-Sept-16 16:38:24

So channel 4 will be hosting the GBBO it will not be the same with all the adverts the ads have ruined Formula 1 so I guess it will be the same for GBBO.

HannahLoisLuke Tue 13-Sept-16 16:29:45

I stopped watching Bake Off the season before last as I was fed up with Sue and Mel's silly innuendo and Paul's preening. I do like Mary though, on other programmes she cooks some great recipes, many of which I've tried and loved.
The programme has been bought by Channel 4 so I suppose it will be given a horrible voice over like that one on Come Dine with Me. I shan't be watching anyway.

Ana Tue 13-Sept-16 16:27:15

You could get run over by a bus tomorrow vanpopple! grin

Where do they come from? Sigh...

Jane10 Tue 13-Sept-16 16:00:13

vanpopple Tue 13-Sept-16 15:58:58

Who said this website was impartial? And actually, we don't care what you think! hmm

vanpopple Tue 13-Sept-16 15:35:38

Oh my god - who are these idiots who say 'im not watching it then'??? Oh yeah cos its SO hard to press number four instead of number 1...

Honestly i couldnt believe a so-called impartial website like this moans, so you all moan about TV licence now channel 4...
You all need to get a life, unfortunately like all the old age pensioners on here. life goes on and things evolve..

Either move with the times or get off the internet cos nobody cares...

Cerocer13 Tue 13-Sept-16 15:30:43

Well said Rosieroe, I agree entirely with you. Nothing wrong with an older woman trying to make the best of herself. We might be old on the outside, but not on the inside. If she was some o,d Trollope, she would be criticised too. You just can't win with some people.

JoJo58 Tue 13-Sept-16 14:59:48

I enjoy watching GBBO, Mary berry and Paul Hollywood good cooks in their own right, I love watching the contestants although some are irritating but love it when they make B....'s ups, thats what it's all about really, Sue and Mel make some funny comments and faces, everyone has a choice as to what they watch, like all tv we all have different likes and dislikes, I hope it doesn't change when it goes to channel 4, but it won't be the same for sure.

Phoebes Tue 13-Sept-16 14:58:13

Gillybob - I am an old codger (73) trying to look young and making a pretty good job of it. I see nothing wrong with trying to look your best ,whatever age you are!

Barrowlass Tue 13-Sept-16 14:46:39

Really pleased that good old BBC stuck to their guns and refused to pay such and enormous amount. Who's bright idea to cut costs and lose BBC's own production teams I wonder?

GrannyO Tue 13-Sept-16 14:10:07

Hope it doesn't mean celebrity bake offs with reality nonentities effing and blinding all over the shop. Tell me one series that 's improved after moving from the Beeb?

Craftycat Tue 13-Sept-16 14:04:49

I'm with Merlot Gran. Love Mel & Sue & very much love Mary-I remember speaking to her back in 80's when I was doing some test cooking for Home & Freezer Digest magazine & she was so lovely & helpful to me. I don't think she is false at all.
Sue is a local girl & has the reputation of being smashing too.
Paul annoys me- so superior.
I do not have a good feeling about it going to channel 4- I never watch adverts anyway so will have to record it & whiz through them.
As NONE of the 4 presenters has yet signed with 4 then it is just possible BBC could build a new show round them. Now that's an idea.
( Couldn't stand Bruce Forsyth!Ever )

Jawsnana Tue 13-Sept-16 14:04:14

Am I the only person who has never watched a single programme of GBBO ?
