I'll probably be unpopular for saying this but having seen both episodes I felt embarrassed watching Miriam Margoyles behave in such an undignified way.

She was often rude and demanding and as for the farting......

There are and have been threads on here about growing old disgracefully and now threads about the obesity crisis - well, if I ever need something to bring me up short when thinking about another slice of cake or a chocolate biscuit I think I'll watch last night's episode again.

Miriam and Rosemary made me cringe, waddling around being waited on hand and foot by trim, polite, dignified and attractive Japanese women of the same age.

I noticed Jan Leeming wasn't included in this series. Is that because the producers thought she was too slim, attractive and obviously likes to take care of herself?

hmm

Chrishappy, it must be difficult for you. I have at least 3 friends and one relative with the same problem. Each friend has had bowel cancer and my elderly relative has a stoma bag. What remains of her bowel releases gas into the bag, and of course, it makes a farting sound. She worries about what people think, too, but really, she shouldn't.
I'm sure there was a Bard somewhere who wrote, 'Where 'ere ye be, let your wind blow free'.

" Where'ere you be, let your wind go free, in Church of Chapel let it rattle "

I am another who enjoyed the programme, and due to an underlying bowel problem I too let rattle sometimes. Its embarrassing but I try not to worry too much otherwise I would be a prisoner in my home. Outdoors , and fresh air are my friend LOL
