Yes! Surprisingly fascinating and informative - I loved it!

This programme and Portrait Artist of the Year are my favourite things on TV. I find it a really soothing thing to watch and like the potters and the judges. I don't envy them some of the challenges, but it's fascinating seeing how their efforts end up once they've been fired and decorated.

It will be sad when this finishes. It's great that everyone is so nice to each other. I'm disappointed that Ryan hasn't come up to expectations- think he overcomplicates things . This week his glazes improved from his Brown efforts , but he must have been disappointed that his fish plan didn't work.

A programme in the same vein, Sewing Bee, has not been recommissioned by the BBC. Like Portrait Artist and Pottery Throwdown, we found it relaxing and interesting to watch.

I thought it was right Nam went out but I was a bit sorry about Cait I d got used to hervandvi thought she was improving I really liked clovers little set and Freyas were clever I thought Ryan's were very disappointing and if he doesn't improve he should be off
I ve really warmed to the chap with the funny hair I think he's quite a sweetie And the lady judge had heart shaped glasses

Surely they could have come up with something better than making a toilet. The credibility of ceramics as art made into a joke, imo, sorry.

Ankers Fri 17-Mar-17 07:05:15

I agree.

AyjayF Fri 17-Mar-17 07:24:39

I thought the 'working toilet' challenge introduced an engineering element which wasn't quite fair. What did constructing a u bend have to do with pottery? Mind you Ryan's loo was magnificent!

rosesarered Fri 17-Mar-17 09:22:57

I agree with you Ajay I thought that making a toilet was hard enough without the practical element of it being a working one! They mainly did really well though, Ryans
Loo certainly was amazing.I think now that he will win, as overall he has been the best potter ( although it does depend on how he does 'on the day') I know.

Luckygirl Fri 17-Mar-17 09:37:25

Yes - a working toilet did seem a step too far. I have my money on Ryan too - even though he was being discussed for being chucked out a couple of weeks ago. Freya was the right choice for leaving this week.

AlieOxon Fri 17-Mar-17 09:48:36

I only just found this thread. Making the toilets was so funny! I never realised quite how much went into it though. I was surprised that they could be sat on and that three of them actually worked!
Last week - loved Clover's little set, especially the seal. No-one spotted that the biggest one was like those Chinese cats with a paw up? I've seen those in a shop and it's a lucky symbol. They were really good.

merlotgran Fri 17-Mar-17 09:51:11

We thought it was a really funny episode last night. I was amazed those toilets actually worked - even the one that soaked the judge.

annodomini Fri 17-Mar-17 10:19:02

I don't know how I would feel about sitting on the loo with a turtle peeking out between my knees! However, it was a very well designed and constructed piece and deserved to be top of the class.

Greyduster Fri 17-Mar-17 10:29:11

Compared to last year, when the final challenge was a working sink, this must have been a nightmare. I think we're all familiar with the concept of u bends, but wouldn't have the first idea how to construct one! It was a brilliant effort by all of them. Not sure I would have liked to be the one to strength test them thoughhmm!

Greyduster Fri 17-Mar-17 10:31:27

Actually, the thing about the turtle with its head poking out reminded me of a rude joke I once heard and when I saw the finished article I couldn't get it out of my head!!

AlieOxon Fri 17-Mar-17 11:36:06

Didn't the sink have a U-bend?

What next year, a bidet?

Greyduster Fri 17-Mar-17 16:19:38

As far as I can remember all they had to make sure was that there was a hole big enough to take the waste fitment (one person's wasn't) and that they could fit a tap/taps to it. I don't think they had to show it working.

felice Fri 17-Mar-17 16:30:45

The only thing running through my head when I saw the toilets was how to keep them clean, they may have worked but I would not fancy trying to clean them.

Greyduster Fri 17-Mar-17 16:31:55

Sorry I got that wrong. The sink wasn't the final challenge - it was in episode two! Apologies (impressive though!). The final challenge was porcelain tableware.

BlueBelle Fri 17-Mar-17 22:35:01

I agree Ryan's was the best but I didn't like it, that head sticking out between your legs would surely put you off doing anything, and the fins either side ....nah not a toilet

I hope little Clover wins

grannypiper Thu 23-Mar-17 15:41:41

I have a horrible feeling tonight's final may be the last we see of this great show, think it may go the same way as the sewing bee.hmm

rosesarered Thu 23-Mar-17 21:57:13

What a great final....and Ryan won! Deservably I think, he made some really good things all the way through.I have really enjoyed this series and sad it has come to an end, do hope they make more, I shall miss it, boo-hoo.

MawBroon Thu 23-Mar-17 22:01:56

Ooh! Eye candy too ! blush

Worthy winner - well done Ryan!

merlotgran Thu 23-Mar-17 22:15:05

I'm really glad Ryan won. Apart from his dodgy Russian dolls he was the best all the way through.

Lyndylou Thu 23-Mar-17 22:20:09

Great show, I've really enjoyed it. Ryan was a worthy winner although I still think Clover's Russian dolls were lovely. I hope there is another series.

grannypiper Fri 24-Mar-17 07:06:14

Fantastic but i think we knew all the way through who would win as he has been outstanding form the start. I am with you Lyndylou Clovers Russian Dolls were "best in show"
