Yes! Surprisingly fascinating and informative - I loved it!

Loving this prog. Crying judge and Cait equally annoying.

BlueBelle Mon 20-Feb-17 21:45:51

This is so much better than the painting challenge
I m not too keen on Nam or Clovers work so far but like Ryans and Elaine but they are all very good

Nelliemoser Mon 20-Feb-17 22:28:39

I have missed a lot of them but they are fascinating. Not being very arty I look at these people and wonder how on earth they manage to make what they do. What a lot of skill.

I think I'd like to throw a pot on a wheel. Watch out, arts centre, here I come!

There was a thread on the previous series and, much as I enjoy it, being brought up in the Potteries, daughter of potters, married to a potter, I can only say it's all a bit Chi chi for me. I only remember the dust everywhere and the poverty. Went to visit Wedgwood's recently-lovely visit but it is so sanitised these days-truly thank God for that!-but so unlike the potteries of old. Not saying, of course, that there should be a return to awful working conditions!! Am enjoying seeing the skills I grew up with.

I think Richard should have gone this week and not Elaine.

MawBroon Thu 23-Feb-17 22:59:33

Me too, I felt very sorry for her and what had survived the kiln looked good to me.

rosesarered Thu 23-Feb-17 23:01:20

I was sure that Richard was for the chop this week, and Cait lives a charmed life on this show, her water feature was awful.

Elrel Thu 23-Feb-17 23:37:08

Roses - yes, Elaine really shouldn't have gone.

Elrel Thu 23-Feb-17 23:38:11

Sorry, that was responding to merlot.

gettingonabit Fri 24-Feb-17 08:12:20

newquay that's really interesting.

What pottery do they make in Middleport now?

LadyGracie Fri 24-Feb-17 10:45:07

Yes I agree with others Richard should have gone!

merlotgran Fri 24-Feb-17 10:49:21

Richard looked weary and resigned to being the one to leave. I've always thought these things are manipulated with clever editing.

Cait will probably win.

Luckygirl Fri 24-Feb-17 11:14:27

Yes - Richard should have gone. Elaine's work was good - she just had the bad luck to have a kiln explosion.

Greyduster Fri 24-Feb-17 11:19:04

I agree with those of you who said that Richard should have gone and not Elaine. She has been better than him all through and was penalised unfairly even though she didn't meet the brief. I also think that potters being allowed to pass "spares" onto others, though very magnanimous, is wrong because it puts the ones who can't benefit from it at a disadvantage. Freya's water feature was lovely. She deserved to be Potter of the Week.

Atqui Fri 24-Feb-17 12:50:45

I agree . elaine is very talented but Imsuppose their hands were tied because she didn't follow the brief.,I also feel very guilty in saying that Cait is very irritating as I'm sure she is some bodies darling daughter , but apart from that and her roses , her work is awful.

Atqui Fri 24-Feb-17 12:51:32

Dogs nose? Dogs dinner!!

BlueBelle Fri 24-Feb-17 13:24:41

Cait should have gone admitted Richards wasn't good but he's thrown some good things in the past Cait hasn't done anything good apart from her Roses Nams didn't work out very well either
I think Freya's was definitely the best by far Ryan had a poor night but he's a bit of a golden boy
What is with the tutors hair (is he Keith ?) I don't get it weirdest style I ve ever come across

whitewave Fri 24-Feb-17 13:26:47

A comb foreward?
All the rage look at trumptygrin

BlueBelle Fri 24-Feb-17 17:09:46

No it's more than that Whitwave he has a parting down the middle and lots of grease to hold it down very strange

rosesarered Fri 03-Mar-17 10:54:59

So, nobody thrown out this week! They all looked relieved, although two have to go next week.
Richard's pit fired vase was great, he deserved to win it.Cait did do the artichoke very well, and I felt sorry for Richard being left with a bunch of grapes, how the hell was he supposed to make a vase out of that!

rosesarered Fri 03-Mar-17 10:56:29

Yes, Bluebelle he is a quirky man with an equally quirky hairstyle and dress sense.

whitewave Fri 03-Mar-17 11:26:35

We did pottery at school, with wheel etc. There was a lot of mucking about as far as I can remember, but I did enjoy it. I remember also making stuff with rolls of clay and slip.

Greyduster Fri 03-Mar-17 16:25:20

I love the different firing techniques - they are fascinating - and I was very pleased when Richard got pot of the week. Well deserved.

merlotgran Fri 03-Mar-17 16:30:50

They're a really nice bunch of people this series. Cait's a bit annoying but she is really improving.

Says she who know b***er all about pottery. grin
