Netflix

I did enjoy what I saw but felt it was a more of a nostalgiafest for people of a certain age [30-40], being a bit ET/Close Encounters'ish. But I do like series that I can chat to my children about; it was DD that got me addicted to Game of Thrones [for which I shall be forever grateful!].

We watched the first series of Stranger Things Tegan. The second one was very disappointing we thought.

I'm considering getting it as I saw an episode of Stranger things [DD and DS both love it] and now want to watch the whole series but can't. I assumed, because it's now on it's second series the first one would be on dvd but it isn't; I read that they're not putting many things out on dvd now. I, too, don't even find time to watch everything there is, even without Netflix but I am regretting my decision to not have it [DS offered it as a Christmas present; I think if you have it you can get it at a reduced price for someone else].

I wouldn't mind Netflix but our broadband contingent can only just manage the Youtube I watch. Last month it ran out before the end of the month.

We’ve subscribed for a couple of years now and watch quite often. Mainly films, but also series such as The Crown and Victoria, etc. Watched ‘Spotlight’ the other day - a fact-based film set in America about a team of journalists and reporters working for a section of the Boston Globe who were fighting for the ‘outing’ of paedophile priests in the city and beyond. Really good, informative film, I thought.

I watch Netflix whenever I can get the TV to myself - lots of progs and some good recent films. My favourites are Episodes, Schitts Creek, The Crown, Last Tango in Halifax, and now the whole series of Friends from the beginning- not everyones cup of tea but I love it - so much more. For £7 a month - bargain.

We subscribe and really enjoy it. I don’t watch much TV but when I do want to sit down there is always something I can find. Lots of good series....The Crown, Designated survivor, Breaking Bad (if it’s your thing!), I like the period dramas and the documentaries. There is also a section of downloadable programmes that you can download and watch off line if you are away. We love it. I’d give it a try, there are often offers on to sign up.

I suspect it might be the way we watch TV that has a bearing on how much people watch it.

As I said, we struggle to watch all the things we 'record' and we don't watch 'boxsets' which, I think is how my dc watch it.

We subscribe too Kitty but don't really make enough use of it. There have been some good films etc but also a lot of stuff that doesn't interest me at all. I would cancel and in fact this is the second time we have tried Netflix, my husband enjoys limited usage though. Not really a fan.
My children and grandchildren watch Netflix all the time.

We added The Indian Detective to our watchlist yesterday, Gk - it does look good!

Netflix is great. We're currently watching The Indian Detective. Light and entertaining, it's about an Indian policeman born and bred in Canada, who visits Mumbai to see his father and gets involved in a case. Think Slum Dog Detective .

Godless is absolutely brilliant (but an acquired taste).

I'm also hooked on The Crown.

Just started watching Alias Grace by Margaret Astwood. Something to look forward to as I'm still not feeling well enough to venture out in this horrible weather. Love Netflix.

I've recently started subscribing to Netflix and would thoroughly recommend it. In fact, if it were not for the Sky Sports channels that my DH simply cannot do without, I would be more than happy to have only the freeview channels, Netflix and Amazon Prime.
It's worth remembering that it's so much more than movies - there are all the popular children's programmes (great for when the GC visit) and TV series. I've just finished watching Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South, a 4 part mini series. I love having all this 'on demand'. Go for it!

There was a recent thread on this. It was mostly favourable. I am a Netflix fan, lots of good series- The Crown, House of Cards, Breaking Bad and many more. Perhaps,look back at the old thread for numerous recommendations. You can get a 30 day free trial to see if you like it.
