It seems to me many of us like personal recommendations for TV series etc such as the recent Keeping Faith. So I am starting here a thread for us to post things we have enjoyed so that other GN members can sample them too.

I am really enjoying on ITV the Durrells at present, light hearted, warm sunshine and an easy watch.

Please add what station or app it is on eg Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC 1. Thanks.

Over to you.

Just found the name of the recommended Netflix drama starting on Thursday. The Alienist. It is about a secretary, a criminal psychologist and a newspaper illustrator working together on crimes in the 1890s in New York. I will give it a whirl, which means if it hasn't grabbed me in 10 minutes it's OFF !

I have discovered two programmes that both look promising (I've only watched one episode of each) both are on catch up:

800 Words on BBC iPlayer - series about a family of dad and two teenagers that relocate to NZ after his wife's death. It is billed as "comedy drama" and is a NZ production, beautiful scenery to lose yourself in.

Before We Die Skandi noir on Channel 4... female cop whose colleague partner (and lover) goes missing.

I think its called Life and Death Row on BBCiplayer but I'll check and post again if that's not right. Real life looking into the crimes, the trials and the outcome sort of as it happens. I can't stop watching it and some of it has made me quite sad while other bits have made me quite mad!

Just been reminded of what a great film Dances with Wolves is. It's on Channel 5 at the moment.

Netflix "locked up" then "chained up" OMG I binged watched all 18 episodes of locked up but have made myself calm it now as I was getting nothing done! Prison/jail in USA. Real life as it happens. I love this kind of cr*p as my DH calls it.

Safe on Netflix is very good.

I have justed watched Safe it was very good with lots of well known faces and plenty of red herrings.

I am posting too Dontaskme.

Well that was a binge watch and a half.

I recently signed up to Netflix because of all the recommendations and I am not disappointed. It is so well set out, I can go straight into what I watched last, where as on Amazon Prime I am searching about.

I have just watched some of the old Prime Suspect which were so well written and acted.

I have just watched the first episode of House of Cards, I must admit I am a bit daunted as there are abut 5 series! I am thoroughly enjoying Hinterland even though it is a bit bleak. So thanks all for getting me hooked up.

I will try Safe, thanks

Dontaskme and travelsafar I am also enjoying Safe. Although I am aware it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It has several twists and turns, and red herrings.

Flight HS13 - Dutch series with subtitles, on Walter Presents.

We've watched two episodes so far and it looks promising - lots of intrigue. Handsome lead! What more can I say smile

I bought "The Crown" on DVD, thinking it would be cheaper than subscribing. I have only watched the first four episodes so far. It is enthralling, it takes me back to when I was a young child and is also enlightening e.g. I did not realise the effect of the catastrophic event that was "The Smog".
All the actors are very good particularly Claire Foye. I can't wait to see the remainder and also the next series when Elizabeth is played by Olivia Colman.
