I'm starting this new thread as apparently our other one was over a year old!! shock

We'll have to do more gossiping to prevent this happening again.

Here's a link to the old one.

Lullydully

Agree about Eddie, for all his little faults he’s a good man.
Very moving episode, could this be the start of a reconciliation between Ed and Emmer?

Iam64 Sat 31-Aug-19 21:45:03

Will stands to lose his job, his hone and custody of Poppy.

merlotgran Sat 31-Aug-19 14:53:29

Clever parallel between Will could lose his job and Ed did lose his job.

Everything depending on which brother can keep his mouth shut.

This episode shows why I will never be able to stop tuning in despite weeks of never ending cricket matches, daft dinner parties and interminable domestic dross.

LullyDully Sat 31-Aug-19 08:16:31

Yes what a harrowing episode. I had thought Edward may kill himself, seems I got it wrong. Poor Will never quite gets it right since his wife died. He does need some help before he is successful.......no spoiler.

I was very moved by Eddie Grundy and how he dealt with Will. Superb.

They still have Joe to die, that will be hard. It will have to be done well as he is such a well loved character. Who can replace him ?

Iam64 Sat 31-Aug-19 08:13:52

Phoenix, thanks for putting me right about dum de dum etc.

Brilliant episode last night. Will could lose his licence and his job if news of the ‘incident’ reaches those in authority. Potential nightmare scenario on the work, family front for Will, I feel for Clarrie x

Great writing and acting. I was holding my breath for most of the time. So clear how circumstances, pressures, and self doubt can bring someone to the edge.

GracesGranMK3 Fri 30-Aug-19 21:17:56

Lovely description Phoenix.

Eddie has a heart the size of Borsetshire, and sometimes brilliant intuition when it comes to what to say.

Of course, on other occasions, he's a liability, and can be a bit of a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, bless him!

GracesGranMK3 Fri 30-Aug-19 21:05:52

It's the quarter of an hour over so many years that allows them to round out the characters. I understand why a character of Jim's age and background not wanting help but I hope they allow Will to get some. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45.

merlotgran Fri 30-Aug-19 19:55:19

Will is such a git!

Sara65 Fri 30-Aug-19 19:46:57

You’ve got to love Eddie

GracesGranMK3 Fri 30-Aug-19 19:43:49

Brilliant episode.

phoenix Fri 30-Aug-19 19:29:38

Iam I've always thought it was "dum di dum di dum di dum, dum di dum dee DEE da" but could be wrong......................

phoenix Fri 30-Aug-19 19:25:46

As Mr P would say at the end of a particularly dramatic episode, "Well!"

very well acted by all, imo.

eGJ Fri 30-Aug-19 19:17:49

Well they don’t often get as dramatic as that! (no more clues as I know lots of you listen on Sundays)

Iam64 Fri 30-Aug-19 18:57:54

I don’t want pity for my addiction. I love my addiction, tho some recent story lines have failed to feed it. However, hearing Emmur telling Will to put the gun down..... dadededudedidee

phoenix Fri 30-Aug-19 16:59:04

The first time Mr P stayed overnight was Saturday.

The next morning I alarmed him by jumping out of bed saying "Quick, we'll miss it!"

He asked " miss what? " When I replied "The Archers!" as I dashed to turn on the radio, he laughed.

18 years on, he's as addicted as me!

Lazigirl Fri 30-Aug-19 14:39:43

jura you clearly don't understand the nature of addiction. You start off listening casually, then slowly it creeps up on you until bingo you are ensnared before you realise it. You miss a few days and the cravings start so you have a sly listen on iPlayer. You need your daily fix or your sleep becomes fitful and beset by nightmares about Shula, the vicar and Eddie Grundy et al fornicating in the stables and scaring the horses. A confirmed addict prioritises TA above friends, family, meals, and social events, but can't help it. Detoxing has limited short term effects in my experience, it's a powerful drug you are dealing with and you should try to feel more understanding, and yes pity for us addicts jura.

merlotgran Thu 29-Aug-19 21:35:53

I loved Tracey's, 'St. Shula of the Holy Martyrs,' line.

grin

Iam64 Thu 29-Aug-19 20:37:21

Jura - I can’t believe you took the trouble to criticise us, when you acknowledge you are t addicted! I missed a planned walk with friends because I was listening to the omnibus (helen and Rob)

phoenix Thu 29-Aug-19 20:16:10

Still think Wiwyum needs a slap, but at least Emmur seems to have stopped sighing as she speaks, well, at least for now.

Nanoo15 Thu 29-Aug-19 19:27:42

Oops, apologies, we DID get some drama tonight!

Nanoo15 Thu 29-Aug-19 18:54:06

I think you’re right Grumppa, let’s hope they return very soon, we need proper drama!

grumppa Thu 29-Aug-19 15:08:55

It seems to me that the regular script writers have all gone on holiday, and the producers have handed the job over to a bunch of work experience trainees.
