I'm starting this new thread as apparently our other one was over a year old!! shock

We'll have to do more gossiping to prevent this happening again.

Here's a link to the old one.

Luckygirl, it's August - holiday time. They'll be sunning themselves in Marbella with all their gangster buddies. They'll be back to cause more trouble when they've topped up their tans - or when the SWs remember them.grin

Aggie ?

As for Emma I was actually embarrassed listening to her asking for money.. What a thing to do.

However the storyline highlighted a big social problem- how those who can't buy often do not have the security of a permanent home.

Shame on our government for selling off public housing ( at ridiculous prices) and not building more.
Building affordable houses for buyers is not the answer.
People on low incomes can't afford to buy.
But young families need to have somewhere they can call home and decorate, improve etc without the worry of it being sold by the landlord.
There are so many families like Emma and Ed.

I am puzzled as to why the crooks seem to have backed off from harassing Ed.

Daddima I don't understand the project thing. Everyone is keen to win it but why? They are putting a lot of time and effort into a project for no personal gain?? Could someone explain. I'm missing something.

Nana3

Oh I so hope you’re wrong, poor Ed

NfkDumpling Sun 04-Aug-19 19:31:04

Yes’ Nana3 I do. We’re due another suicide. Hopefully not as they really are due some luck.

merlotgran Sun 04-Aug-19 11:31:10

I can honestly say I'm not looking forward to listening to the next few episodes. Emma's humiliation and fury, Ed's despair, Clarrie's anguish when she finds out what's been happening and we know that Joe is soon going to die.

Why do the script writers have to heap so much crap on the Grundys? angry

Nana3 Sun 04-Aug-19 11:25:36

Does anyone else think that Ed is contemplating suicide?

Sara65 Sat 03-Aug-19 21:58:27

I like Ed, but I guess he’s just happy with his lot in life, whereas Emmer (obviously Susan’s influence) wants to climb the social ladder.

Avor2 Sat 03-Aug-19 20:07:02

Can't stand Emma or Ed (what a drip just like Will his brother) agree with you merlotgran I think Clarrie has a lot to answer for. I only listen to the omnibus edition on Sunday so roll on tomorrow.

Sara65 Sat 03-Aug-19 18:09:13

Just caught up on the iPlayer, I think Ed has probably made the right decision, they have different priorities, and let’s face it, Emmer is a shrew! Even so, did feel some sympathy for her, she’s just such a self pitying whiner, with a king size chip on her shoulder

Daddima Sat 03-Aug-19 16:53:35

I’m sure I heard a Grundy say in the omnibus that they might ‘ win the half a million’.

Isn’t the money to be used for the environmental project?

AyjayF Sat 03-Aug-19 14:32:27

Excellent programme. Such good acting from Ed + Emma.
I'm firmly on Emma's side. He is trying to shift the blame to her.
Wonder what he'll do? Where will he go?

Luckygirl Sat 03-Aug-19 10:58:23

It was indeed good acting last night.

LullyDully Sat 03-Aug-19 08:02:49

Ed couldn't go to the Police because the criminals were threatening the family. Also it wouldn't be in the Grundy psyche to ask for police helping. They are used to coping in some tricky situations by ducking and diving.

I still think that Susan and Neil should do more. Perhaps they will take Emma and the children in.

Scribbles Fri 02-Aug-19 23:14:32

I thought Barry Farimond's (Ed) acting in tonight's episode was superb. I was close to tears at times.

Luckygirl Fri 02-Aug-19 21:57:33

Go Ed! - at last he has realised that he has different priorities and will stop being pushed to be something he is not. Remind you of Susan and Neil at all??!! Gosh - it is all so exciting - I must go and lie down!

merlotgran Fri 02-Aug-19 20:32:51

I think he's a coward to treat Emma like that. If he's so law abiding why didn't he go to the police when he realised he was delivering dodgy chemicals and the stuff is still in their barn so he is putting Eddie and Clarrie in a difficult position as well. He's responsible for the whole sorry mess so decides to bale out.

Nanoo15 Fri 02-Aug-19 20:16:27

Well maybe not so spineless Merlot, at least he has taken the initiative and ended their relationship. So sad but maybe Emma will realise she has lost a lot more than a house. Guess she could go back to Will .....

merlotgran Fri 02-Aug-19 19:35:04

I just can't feel sorry for Ed. He's a spineless t**t.

phoenix Fri 02-Aug-19 19:21:18

Oh I hope not Lully but it is all a bit grim, and Joe hasn't even died yet!

LullyDully Fri 02-Aug-19 19:17:57

Will he kill himself and she get together with Will?

LullyDully Fri 02-Aug-19 19:17:20

No, horribly sad episode. .

NfkDumpling Thu 01-Aug-19 18:13:43

Can we start a crowd fund for Emma and Ed to raise the money for them?
