I'm starting this new thread as apparently our other one was over a year old!! shock

We'll have to do more gossiping to prevent this happening again.

Here's a link to the old one.

I guessed the name! Also guessed Jennifer's reaction!

Sara65 Fri 27-Sept-19 19:18:38

I’ve been away and missed a couple, what have they called him?

merlotgran Fri 27-Sept-19 19:21:41

Alexander after Lexical. . Xander for short.

Jenny is horrified. Cue the next big storyline.

merlotgran Fri 27-Sept-19 19:22:11

Stupid phone. Lexi

Sara65 Fri 27-Sept-19 19:26:42

Oh yes, what was Jennifer hoping for? Brian?

merlotgran Fri 27-Sept-19 19:33:50

Jenny is right though. The more Lexi is involved, like going to register the birth, the more she is likely to bond and want to keep it.

phoenix Fri 27-Sept-19 19:44:11

Lexi's part tonight seemed to indicate that there would be no issues on that front, but time will tell!!

But to return to another point, when will Joe shuffle off this mortal coil?

Luckygirl Fri 27-Sept-19 21:11:39

He is hanging on in there.......

shysal Tue 08-Oct-19 15:05:09

I see from my Radio Times that Joe Grundy is at last going to die this week. The family is having a tough time at the moment.

phoenix Tue 08-Oct-19 17:16:41

shysal we saw that too, hopefully it will be a peaceful, non dramatic end.

Must say, the writers have taken their time, the actor died back in April, 6 months ago!

merlotgran Tue 08-Oct-19 18:34:58

Hasn't that floor in No 1 The Green dried out yet?

eGJ Thu 10-Oct-19 17:44:05

Tonight’s the night; I hope they get the cider press working with its new screw first.

merlotgran Thu 10-Oct-19 18:18:06

I was shouting, 'Just swap the screws, Elizabeth. Yours doesn't need to be in working order!!'

At least Joe will die at Grange Farm ?

phoenix Thu 10-Oct-19 18:59:57

merlot you and me both 're Elizabeth, but tbh I almost gave up on her intelligence when (quite some time ago) she said that Lily was sending out the "invites" shock Invite is something you do, you send out "invitations", as evry fule nose.

eCJ bracing myself!

eGJ Thu 10-Oct-19 19:18:06

There should have been no music!

phoenix Thu 10-Oct-19 19:36:02

Well handled, or an anti climax? (Bearing in mind that we all knew what was happening, but some listeners might not)

But, as others have said, at least Joe died at Home Farm, and saw the cider press in action.

As mentioned previously, I hope the funeral will involve Joe's coffin on the trap, pulled by Bartleby.

I think it's what he would have wanted.

MawB Thu 10-Oct-19 19:37:36

Yes, silence would have been more appropriate and also more effective. sad

merlotgran Thu 10-Oct-19 19:38:44

The bit with Ruiari and Elizabeth was touching ?

phoenix Fri 11-Oct-19 19:11:53

sad what Eddy said was very touching.

Anneliese63 Fri 11-Oct-19 19:42:51

What a lovely way for Eddie to say goodbye to his dad. So very moving.

AyjayF Fri 11-Oct-19 20:10:52

Eddie's goodbye to Joe was beautifully handled.
It must be very difficult once an actor has died to work it into the script but this was done sensitively

eGJ Fri 11-Oct-19 20:34:23

What a soliloquy. I have just heard it driving home and it was hard not to concentrate more on the emotions Eddie produced than the road. And then how William and Ed responded - excellent

NfkDumpling Fri 11-Oct-19 20:48:48

I missed the beginning! Was there music?

MawB Fri 11-Oct-19 21:33:49

I’m glad I wasn’t driving home- I was in bits. How silly can you get blush

Anneliese63 Fri 11-Oct-19 23:25:54

No Maw not silly. I needed so many tissues!
