For my late father, it was The Archers theme music, which he referred to as the “dum- de-dums “
At the first notes he would do a Usain Bolt across the room to turn the radio off.
For me, I’m afraid it is The Listening Project.
Intrusive? Boring? I don’t know, I just can’t stand it.
(Just a Minute comes a close second!)

HootyMcOwlface Thu 27-Jun-19 19:45:37

Eastenders and party political broadcasts (esp Conservatives, makes me want to chuck a brick at the tv!)

Tillybelle Thu 27-Jun-19 19:47:45

East Enders
Mrs Browns Boys makes me feel sick
Casualty
Adverts for EE with that weird man oh, he's Kevin Bacon. Who is he anyway?

I watch very little TV now. It's lovely! I'm reading more and I have been enjoying the silence too so I can listen to the birds.

HootyMcOwlface. Hi Hooty! Have you been away or have I just been on a different place? Missed you!! Hope you are well! ?

Agree with quite a few already posted;

Lorraine Kelly
Elaine Paige - not just her laugh
Michael Ball
John Inverdale (especially when he attempts to commentate on tennis)

There’s a northern female BBC announcer who irritates me and I don’t know why....

Most of all though, everything about Robert Peston. His whiny voice is awful and I find him repulsive!

skate Thu 27-Jun-19 20:28:35

It's the One Show for me. As soon as I hear the intro I spring for the remote control, saying 'go away, you ghastly people', and breathe a huge sigh of relief if I manage to switch before that awful Alex Jones appears with her false bonhomie, her grating voice and her sycophantic guests, not to mention the mindless audience accompaniment of 'woo hoos' at the slightest and most inane remark from any of the 'celebrities'. What is WRONG with people??

cassandra264 Thu 27-Jun-19 20:29:21

Football, Simon Cowell and Boris Johnson.

Snowbell Thu 27-Jun-19 20:43:54

Keith Lemon

glammagran Thu 27-Jun-19 20:52:48

For me:-
All left wing comedians (in particular Angela Barnes)
Eastenders theme tune
ALL adverts (luckily only time I see is on All 4 which is unavoidable).
Reality tv (but a fan of Strictly)
Greg Wallace
Jeremy Clarkson (and Corbyn)
Not forgetting Dianne Abbot
Plus Boris Johnson
And yes, Mawbroonsback the theme from Just a Minute on R4

glammagran Thu 27-Jun-19 20:56:25

Ooooohhhhh I forgot Nicholas Witchell - how unctuous is he?

nettyandmasey Thu 27-Jun-19 21:42:58

Any soaps and yet another vote for Elaine Paige’s laugh !!

Plunger Thu 27-Jun-19 22:18:05

Match of the day
Eastenders
Never watch Coronation Street but hate the theme tune despite being written by a close friends uncle.
Brian Cox's boring sing song sleep inducing voice
Could go on ......?

Plunger Thu 27-Jun-19 22:19:44

Oh yes so sleep inducing. Cant imagine attending one of his lectures and not falling asleep!

Crt67 Thu 27-Jun-19 22:36:17

Most of those mentioned, especially the blooming Meerkats, football & anything 'Reality'!

Urmstongran Thu 27-Jun-19 23:15:06

I’m with you pen50 I’d rather read or (like now) use the Internet.

Hate sports (even Wimbledon)
Don’t watch any soaps.
Mute ALL adverts!
Never watch shopping channels.
Can’t bear Jeremy Vine, Steve Wright - same age as me, time to retire and give the young ‘uns a go (‘loving the show Steve’ aargh!)
Seriously need to mute Diane Abbott (she embarrasses me)
Ditto Keir Starmer, Stephen Kinnock and Barry Gardiner.
Hate all the quiz shows.
Any dancing or talent shows.
All cookery shows.
And adverts showing donkeys with deformed hooves and black babies covered in flies with ribs showing (how many more years?)
Horse racing.
The Grand Prix.
Tony Blair.
Lorraine Kelly.
Dominic Grieve.
Anna Soubry.
Yvette (pixie) Cooper
Jess Phillips (proper workin class woman innit - bolshy - putting wind up them toffs ‘I’m not frightened to tell it like it is’)
Philip Schofield (smarmy)
Elaine Paige’s guttural gurgle of a laugh
Gambling ads - Bet 365
Pay day loan sharks

Actually, most of tv!
I think pretty much I could do without it as I probably only watch the news and the occasional documentary.
?

Lilypops Thu 27-Jun-19 23:31:27

4allweknow Fri 28-Jun-19 00:17:05

At the moment any programme being announced as having any Brexit, SNP or Conservative Party leadership content. Can't get to the off button quick enough.

Namsnanny Fri 28-Jun-19 00:43:18

Is Elaine Page even on the telly or radio these days??

She must have a realllllllyy annoying laugh for people to remember it!! grin

Ngaio1....your borderline fixated now wink gotta get over itgrin

absent Fri 28-Jun-19 05:36:31

Pretty much everything, so when Mr absent settles down for an evening of American cultural propaganda – CSI, NCIS and lots of other high-quality production programmes – I go to bed with my story book and my cat.

Willow500 Fri 28-Jun-19 05:57:12

Gosh it's a wonder anyone watches anything with these lists grin

For us it's The One Show - we don't watch much BBC but if OH has had it on for the early news we both rush to turn it over before the first notes hit!

We also have a local news program which shows the football round up on a Monday evening - the music on that is dreadful - loud and monotonous - I mute it as soon as it comes on.

Match of the Day - not on our TV thanks

The Homes Under the Hammer music drives me mad - they pick songs which mention the words the presenter has just said when showing a house - it's loud and totally unnecessary to the point where I would turn off if the remote was handy!

Quite a few adverts are very annoying but I tend to switch off in my head so don't take much notice. My husband hates them too but must take more notice as he'll often spot someone and say that's so and so from such an ad grin

Jalyn Fri 28-Jun-19 06:01:34

Many of the aforementioned plus Nihal Arthanayake, radio 5 live.

NfkDumpling Fri 28-Jun-19 07:09:19

The One Show
Question of Sport
Eastenders
And all BBC adverts especially the ones for Sounds.

Bakingmad0203 Fri 28-Jun-19 07:18:15

So refreshing to hear that other posters find the same people and programmes as annoying as I do!
The Breakfast programme on BBC1 that is on now is a complete waste of time. Every morning I switch it on hoping to hear some interesting news and it is filled with drivel, and then repeats everything an hour later Grr! What has happened to proper news broadcasts, and why are they sending staff to Glastonbury for heavens sake? It happens every year so it’s hardly new news.
I now watch TV for just 5 minutes every day to get any news and then either go on the internet or read.
