Started this thread as a diversion from all the political ones.
Only watched the first half hour as I wasn’t that bothered who was partnered with who really. Find the launch show a bit drawn out TBH.
Realised I only knew 5 of the 15 contestants, but that will change as the weeks go on.
Liked Tess’s gown, thought Claudia’s outfit looked similar to the PVC macs we wore in the early 70’s.

I think the judges probably make notes and pass them to each other before the bottom two do their last dance, so they know who each other are going to eliminate.
I find the winning couples chats with Claudia a complete turn off, there are only so many ways you can comment on ‘your little face when the results were announced!’ type of stuff.

Am I the only one who finds Anton irritating and patronising?

felice Mon 14-Oct-19 13:12:30

Someone really needs to rein in Katya, her 'performances' of histrionics and hysteria are awful. I felt really sorry for Mike when she was climbing all over him. His face was a picture, and I noted he mentioned his Wife quite pointedly. Even DGS said his Maman would not like someone doing that to Papa.
She seems almost high, caffeine overload perhaps??

I agree that neither of those two should have been in the dance off as they both danced really well but the result (from the dance off alone) was fair as Emma had a more technical dance and performed it really well. The problem is that the public often just pick the personalities they like and don't go on the dancing, so there will always be people eliminated who are better than some saved.
I agree about how irritating Tess is. She is so patronising!

I tend to agree genie if you watch Dev’s Cha Cha there wasn’t a great deal of content. It was basically the same few steps repeated several times. I think his professional should up her game with the choreography especially when you have a partner with potential.

She played it too safe and the routine didn’t fire the public up to vote for him. Pity because the week before she really went for it.

Alcohol or drugs have been mentioned online, but I have no idea how true that might be. She does seem high, it's true.

Sparklefizz

I have heard that rumour as well, but it could be a load of rubbish, she may just be very high spirited!

merlotgran Mon 14-Oct-19 15:10:27

High as a kite (says my mole on the inside) ??

Sparklefizz Mon 14-Oct-19 18:01:35

merlot and sara
Katya's always been a bit excitable but in this series she is excitable PLUS

katie1 Tue 15-Oct-19 20:20:06

Sparkle fizz, I agree with you about Anton!

callgirl1 Tue 15-Oct-19 21:39:10

I love Anton!

Charleygirl5 Tue 15-Oct-19 22:18:06

I am with callgirl I also love Anton.

callgirl1 Tue 15-Oct-19 23:27:02

PHEW! I won`t be completely ostracized then! Thank you, CharleyG x

merlotgran Tue 15-Oct-19 23:30:14

Me too. Anton has a lovely sense of humour.

LullyDully Wed 16-Oct-19 08:48:54

Not keen on Anton either. He seems to get the less able dancers usually, but he copes well. Quite a job bringing or trying to bring Anne Widdicombe and Judy Murray to life. Someone has to do it I suppose.

Sara65 Wed 16-Oct-19 08:54:32

I think Antons coped pretty well over the years, life hasn’t always been easy for him, and he’s retained his sense of humour, I can’t imagine he’ll be dancing as a professional for many more years.

Moocow Thu 17-Oct-19 08:15:17

gabriellaG54 your comment about Kelvin is as bad as Craig's comment about about Anton's teeth! If you have ever seen Kelvin in anything else (like Emmerdale) you would realise it's just the way his mouth goes, some people have very wide grins.

I agree about the over loud audience and I've always hated the joining in clapping with the music. Also surely they couldn't get away with giving Anton yet another non dancer that would have been too predictable. I think possibly Kevin wanted to go out on a high otherwise for this series it would have been lots of criticism if he fsiled to deliver a good competitor.

I was going to abandon Strictly, but have just seen Karim dance, he's so good, hope he makes it to the final smile

merlotgran Sat 19-Oct-19 20:13:52

DGD has just sent me this. grin

Sparklefizz Sat 19-Oct-19 20:35:01

Love it merlotgran !! grin

DanniRae Sat 19-Oct-19 20:40:38

Really enjoyed tonight's show - some great dances. I had a tear in my eye after Will and Janette's dance.

Bathsheba Sat 19-Oct-19 20:41:43

Brilliant merlot!

Sara65 Sat 19-Oct-19 20:48:53

I voted for Karim, my granddaughter voted for Emma Weymouth, and Alex, couldn’t decide, and my grandson voted for David.

Loved the show tonight, not keen on Saffron, but she was pretty sensational tonight.

Deedaa Sat 19-Oct-19 20:54:42

I'm beginning to really like Saffron. She really seems to be making an effort to learn.

annodomini Sat 19-Oct-19 20:55:29

After high marks for his quickstep last week, David is back to square one Will he be the one to go, and will Mike be in the dance-off at last?
