Started this thread as a diversion from all the political ones.
Only watched the first half hour as I wasn’t that bothered who was partnered with who really. Find the launch show a bit drawn out TBH.
Realised I only knew 5 of the 15 contestants, but that will change as the weeks go on.
Liked Tess’s gown, thought Claudia’s outfit looked similar to the PVC macs we wore in the early 70’s.

Thank you for sharing all your likes and dislikes with us. We of course are grateful for that GG

GabriellaG54 Sun 13-Oct-19 22:47:32

I hope to G that the Beeb don't start the same nonsense with Strictly, as is happening in Dancing On Ice.
That would be the final nail in the coffin for me.

GabriellaG54 Sun 13-Oct-19 22:51:26

Oh Anja, how sweet of you. blush
I do my best to amuse and when 'ladies' (ahem) such as yourself take time to thank me, I know it's time well spent.

Anja Sun 13-Oct-19 22:57:56

Don’t mention it ??

annodomini Sun 13-Oct-19 23:02:37

I was shocked that Dev ws eliminated. I thought that his cha-cha in the dance-off was much better than in the main show and he tried to take Craig's advice to show more personality. Ah well - it seems that earlier than usual even good dancers run the risk of elimination.

It is a mystery to me and I am beginning to believe the whispers of “fixing” hmm

dragonfly46 Mon 14-Oct-19 01:26:13

Oh surely it isn’t fixed. That would be too sad. My dad was a brilliant statistician and he used to think the results could not tally. It would be such a shame though.

Sara65 Mon 14-Oct-19 06:39:02

If it is a fix, and I don’t think it is, why not fix it t get rid of that painful to watch footballer?

DanniRae Mon 14-Oct-19 07:56:47

I wouldn't have minded if Emma had gone last night. She annoys me with all that simpering and 'little girl' looks at her partner. "Get over yourself woman you are a bl**dy adult - act like one!"
And I really liked Dev and Diane - my goodness she was so upset. They were one of my favourite couples sad
On Saturday night I tried recording the programme - watching ITV - and then watching it so I could fast forward all "I so love my nanna" bits but by the end I was falling asleep so back to recording it and watching it Sunday .
But have to say that I am loving it and think the standard of dancing this year is AMAZING!! smile

Sara65 Mon 14-Oct-19 08:04:29

I was surprised by the judges decision, I felt Dev was the better dancer, but they were both better than a few who live to dance another day.

I really can’t stand all this family stuff, and the whole Saffron’s Nana thing was completely nauseating.

LullyDully Mon 14-Oct-19 08:24:16

Maybe it is fixed. Dev looked better to me but what do I know? There are a few annoying dancers who I would cast away. Maybe one with a Knitting nanna.

But it is Claudia and Tess' clothes that amaze me. I do not believe Claudia would be seen dead it any of those asymmetric, velvet monstrosities. She looks best in trousers. She needs " smart, well cut" for her looks. Does she have a mirror?

Sparklefizz Mon 14-Oct-19 09:04:24

I loved the dancing but Katya's histrionics are irritating, and why was Diane sobbing like there'd been a death in the family?

If anyone should be voted off, it should be the wooden Tess with her few favourite phrases eg. "A & B can do no more", "Look, they're all standing up for you", etc etc At least Claudia is quirky and ad libs.

EllanVannin Mon 14-Oct-19 09:06:02

It's fixed isn't it ?

Sara65 Mon 14-Oct-19 09:06:41

I agree about the presenters, I think they need someone a bit more spontaneous, you know what Tess is going to say before she opens her mouth

grapefruitpip Mon 14-Oct-19 09:08:49

Tess, dead behind the eyes.

Sara65 Mon 14-Oct-19 09:34:41

Lovely to look at, but sadly devoid of personality.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 14-Oct-19 10:11:22

It has become very shabby around the edges - I’ve watched perhaps 5 minutes that I recorded.

WOODMOUSE49 Mon 14-Oct-19 10:34:45

There's always comments about fixing every year. The votes are independently verified. BBC don't get any money from the phone call votes. What would BBC gain from tampering with these votes?

Really enjoy the show. There's always lots of other channels people can watch. Recorded and skip through bits you like.

Perhaps we need a "positive" only thread for strictly like Strictly NO MenMaf on Facebook.

Sara65 Mon 14-Oct-19 10:38:19

Woodmouse

I really love it as well, look forward to it all year, and I don’t believe the votes are fixed.

But, I really do not like all this sentimental rubbish, when Saffron and AJ went running over to Nana, I nearly turned off.

WOODMOUSE49 Mon 14-Oct-19 10:53:02

Mistake in my post - it should have said this (above).

toscalily Mon 14-Oct-19 10:59:09

The professional dancers are a joy to watch, the sets wonderful and the ever changing costumes lovely to see. But, I think it needs a complete overhaul if it is to continue, less screaming, new presenters, Claudia, stuck in a time warp with her fringe, eye make up, pale lipstick & silly jokes, Tess as everyone else has mentioned ( her dress looked as if it was made out of Christmas wrapping paper on Saturday). None the less I will continue watching this series, recorded and fast forwarded past as many of the irritating bits as I can manage. Surprised by the dance off as I thought there were others who were not so good and should have gone instead.

Lupin Mon 14-Oct-19 11:08:23

I just want Anton to win.

Millie22 Mon 14-Oct-19 11:56:48

So do I.

Sara65 Mon 14-Oct-19 11:58:27

I think he’d die from excitement

Anja Mon 14-Oct-19 12:01:26
