Started this thread as a diversion from all the political ones.
Only watched the first half hour as I wasn’t that bothered who was partnered with who really. Find the launch show a bit drawn out TBH.
Realised I only knew 5 of the 15 contestants, but that will change as the weeks go on.
Liked Tess’s gown, thought Claudia’s outfit looked similar to the PVC macs we wore in the early 70’s.

If the dance off is between Emma and Mike, with head judge Shirley having the casting vote ..... who would she pick?

I would find it very hard to do a rumba with Anton (even if I could dance!! grin ) He is just not someone I could act sexy or romantic with ..... whereas Gorka or Ailjaz !!!!! .... blush

Still rooting for Karim thought he was sublime last night.

Ellianne Sun 03-Nov-19 09:38:30

I agree that some of the professional dancers are spoiling things for their partners, both male and female. It's almost a case of the judges and professionals getting too big for their own boots and losing sight of what the show is about.

For me Strictly (along with bakè off) has lost its charm this year.
At the end of the day it is a light entertainment show & whilst critique is important there is a balance to be drawn between constructive criticism & spiteful criticism.
Having said that Karin & Kelvin are a delight to watch (not sure about Kelvin's outfit though!) & Michelle is making her mark as a potential finalist.
I didn't particularly enjoy Chris & Karen's dance last night, though I like them as a couple.

Karim is very good and so is Kelvin. I think the dance off may be between the two Emmas. Emma Barton’s performance was the weakest in my opinion, she looked very ungainly. The other Emma will probably go as she is less popular with the viewers which is a shame as Aljaz is my favourite male professional dancer, such a lovely, warm man. I am enjoying this series very much, the standard is very high.

Just got in, tired out from shopping and had the lovely thought that I will have crumpets for my tea and I have Strictly to look forward to tonight.......all is good with my world!! grin

DanniRae

It’s the simple things that make life great isn’t it?

Sparklefizz Sun 03-Nov-19 19:54:58

Oh no!! But Mike made a big mistake!! Can't believe it. shock

AllotmentLil Sun 03-Nov-19 22:18:50

Exactly what I thought Sparkle!

annodomini Sun 03-Nov-19 23:13:22

I thought Anton's choreography had done for Emma's chances, but I guess that viewers are voting for them in the hope that Anton will have the success that has so far eluded him. His rumba choreography was just messy.

whywhywhy Mon 04-Nov-19 00:36:51

I just cannot believe that Mike is still in there, are the judges blind as well as daft?? This whole programme has turned farcical.

TwiceAsNice Mon 04-Nov-19 06:06:29

Poor Emma. The Rhumba is a hard dance and she really tried. Can’t believe Mike is still in after he messed up the lift ! The rumour is the judges kept him in because he’s been getting death threats because he’s still in and they couldn’t vote him off because it’s what the trolls want it

cornergran Mon 04-Nov-19 06:49:02

I felt for Emma. A hard dance and odd choreography. Mike made a mistake that was overlooked. Seemed a contrary outcome to me.

Sara65 Mon 04-Nov-19 06:55:15

I too expected the dance off to be between the two Emma’s, and was astonished to see Mike saved yet again! I think it’s time he went, but I thought Emma Barton looked dreadful on Saturday.

Loved Karim and Michelle

Sara65 Mon 04-Nov-19 06:57:49

I also agree that Anton was rude

Calendargirl Mon 04-Nov-19 07:27:14

Emma Weymouth was not really very good this week, the samba looks hard though. She depended a lot on Aliaz, also think she was not that popular, but he was, which has kept them in so far.

Calendargirl Mon 04-Nov-19 07:29:25

Also as I’ve posted before, don’t want to sound ageist, but Anton is starting to look a bit past it compared to many of the young male dancers.
How old is he? You don’t see any female professionals his age in the show.

DanniRae Mon 04-Nov-19 07:32:59

Anton is 53 and I agree that he stands out like a sore thumb amongst all the young male dancers - maybe because he looks old enough to be their dad!!

LullyDully Mon 04-Nov-19 07:38:22

I agree about Anton and he was patronising to Emma and rude to Shirley. Time to go.

Sara65 Mon 04-Nov-19 07:53:34

Anton can still dance, but I agree he’s probably on his last year, otherwise it won’t be , Oh my gosh, who has poor Anton got? It’ll be, Oh, I wonder which poor celebrity has got Anton!

Sparklefizz Mon 04-Nov-19 09:50:53

I agree, DannieRae
he stands out like a sore thumb amongst all the young male dancers - maybe because he looks old enough to be their dad!!

Just hope Anton never becomes a judge .... in fact, the judge line-up at the moment is pretty good in my opinion.

gallusquine Mon 04-Nov-19 10:18:37

Thoroughly enjoyed the Elton John medley and I felt Johannes/Graziano dancing together to Emeli Sande - very moving.

MawB Mon 04-Nov-19 10:24:24

Obviously I got the wrong Emma for sending home! Never warmed to Viscountess Emma- terribly posh and terribly thin. Also not really very graceful . I thought she made a bit of a fuss last night though - it is only a show!
Ah well, other Emma next week? The judging is a mystery to m but then who am I to say!

Sparklefizz Mon 04-Nov-19 11:26:52

MawB I disagree and thought Emma Weymouth was very graceful in all of her dances, and she can't help being thin any more than Oti can help having a large bust.

I wish they hadn't kept banging on about her being a Viscountess though. There was no need. The same as with Robert Rinder, he was continually addressed as "Judge" in a previous series.

Bathsheba Mon 04-Nov-19 11:29:08

Oh no!! But Mike made a big mistake!! Can't believe it.

But did he? Tbh it looked to me as if it was Katya who made the mistake.
