Started this thread as a diversion from all the political ones.
Only watched the first half hour as I wasn’t that bothered who was partnered with who really. Find the launch show a bit drawn out TBH.
Realised I only knew 5 of the 15 contestants, but that will change as the weeks go on.
Liked Tess’s gown, thought Claudia’s outfit looked similar to the PVC macs we wore in the early 70’s.

It Robert Rinder’s “Judge” name is part of his stage name as of course he he isn’t really a Judge!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 04-Nov-19 12:41:03

MawB Robert Rinder is a practicing Criminal Barrister

mcem Mon 04-Nov-19 12:51:05

Yes a practising barrister who appeared as his "stage persona". Not quite the same as using a title acquired by marriage (that being her only claim to celebrity).

MawB Mon 04-Nov-19 12:51:21

Yes, a barrister but not a judge.

MawB Mon 04-Nov-19 12:53:31

So “Judge Rob Rinder” is akin to his stage name -
like many celebrities.

We had a friend with us Saturday watching the show.
She's done ballroom/ Latin all her life and immediately Anton and Emma started she pointed out exactly what Shirley said: the timing was all wrong.

I never did take to the other Emma. She has that simpering look.

DanniRae Mon 04-Nov-19 16:19:07

Yes petra I dislike Emma's simpering look too! All "I'm a weak and feeble women - you have to look after me." Makes me so cross! hmm

callgirl1 Mon 04-Nov-19 16:49:43

Well, I`m no dancing expert, and I bow to those who are, but it won`t stop me liking Anton and wanting to continue seeing him dance, as he`s still very watchable, in my opinion. I was chuffed that the fans got behind him and Emma at the weekend, but sorry to see Alijaz go out, although I wasn`t keen on his partner.

Sara65 Mon 04-Nov-19 18:04:20

Love watching Alijaz, sometimes I’m so mesmerised by the professionals, that I forget to watch the celebrities.

I thought all the dancers on the show tonight had upped their game, but it’s easy to see that it’s time for Mike to go. My daughter and son-in-law were in the audience, but I won’t be asking them who was in the dance off - although I suspect my daughter would love to tell me.

Sara65 Sat 09-Nov-19 23:02:57

I’d be very surprised, not to say a bit suspicious if Mike didn’t go tomorrow, I thought Saffron was amazing, at last she’s shut up about Nana, and we get all that emotional stuff from Emma, completely unnecessary, and so annoying.

DanniRae Sun 10-Nov-19 07:55:13

I loved watching Saffron and AJ last night - I felt the chemistry between them was amazing smile

dragonfly46 Sun 10-Nov-19 08:00:51

The bookies reckon Anton will go tonight. The judges, especially Shirley, don’t like him.

Brunette10 Sun 10-Nov-19 08:02:43

Loved the dancing, Saffron and AJ were brilliant, the chemistry - oh! I fear Mike may go tonight although he tried very hard, he can't help what his face looks like, he was just trying to get into character of the dance. Janette is very quiet at the moment, she normally is right in front jumping about, its not like her to be quiet. Still love the show though.

Sara65 Sun 10-Nov-19 08:12:13

Saffron is a really good dancer, but AJs choreography is always clever.
I also really like Michelle, at the beginning I thought these were the two I was most unlikely to like!

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Nov-19 09:55:14

At last the judges are picking up on faults with Mike ... long overdue in my opinion. He couldn't compare to the others once he was given a routine that was not a comedy dance. I was waiting to see him attempt a rumba grin

I am not keen on Saffron as a person but her dance with AJ last night was fabulous. I even voted for them! As Sara says, AJ is a brilliant choreographer.

The dancing is so good in this series. If Mike leaves tonight, it will probably be Emma next week, although they were good last night, but not always in sync.

annodomini Sun 10-Nov-19 11:18:49

I think that Mike's time is up at last. I still believe that the public vote will save Anton and Emma as it did last week when that rumba should have knocked them out. They won't be voting for Emma, as much as for Anton who has always had the misfortune to be partnered with no-hopers.

Charleygirl5 Sun 10-Nov-19 12:22:48

I think Mike has tried very hard but some of the choreography has not been for him. Last night was probably his last but I do not know who else will be in the dance-off. I do not think that Michelle is liked but Giovanni her partner is.

If Mike goes, the remaining lot are good dancers so it will be difficult. I agree I think Anton is being voted for, mainly because of the years he has attempted to teach absolute horrors to dance.

I still do not like Saffron but at least she has stopped bleating about her grandmother.

Sara65 Sun 10-Nov-19 14:51:32

I admit I can’t really take to Saffron or Michelle, but I think their dancing is outstanding.
I agree Charleygirl, that Saffron has at last stopped banging on about Nana, then last night we had to put up with Emma going all emotional about her wonderful parents. It always makes me want to turn off, we do not need to know!

kittylester Sun 10-Nov-19 15:01:22

I have grown to like Michelle though I didnt to start with. Saffron is good but I still dont much like her!

Dinahmo Sun 10-Nov-19 15:54:43

Don't like Saffron, do like Michelle also Alex, Karim and Kelvin.

I think that talking about their parents or grandparents is an attempt to gain sympathy and support and I wish that they'd stop.

TerriBull Sun 10-Nov-19 16:49:10

He had a bad night yesterday, nevertheless still want Karim to win, at least make it to the final 3. I'm also liking Alex, she grows on me week by week and Kelvin is so good too. I grudgingly have to say Michelle turns in an excellent performance each week, but somehow can't take to her, wouldn't be surprised if she's the overall winner though.

petra Sun 10-Nov-19 17:22:21

I love Michelle. She comes in, does the job, doesn't go wittering on about her family and gives a marvellous performance. Job done ??

DanniRae Sun 10-Nov-19 17:58:24

I imagine it's the BBC who decide to do the 'sob' story stuff on the celebs - not the celebs themselves - I guess they just go along with it.
Someone please let the BBC know that most viewers aren't in the least bit interested!!

Sara65 Sun 10-Nov-19 19:44:01

I know Danni, it puts me off them, most of us have no interest in their Nanas, or parents, and we don’t want to hear, Hello Baby, mummy loves you so much, it’s just all embarrassing!

Also agree with Petra about Michelle, I’m shocked she’s in the dance off.
