Started this thread as a diversion from all the political ones.
Only watched the first half hour as I wasn’t that bothered who was partnered with who really. Find the launch show a bit drawn out TBH.
Realised I only knew 5 of the 15 contestants, but that will change as the weeks go on.
Liked Tess’s gown, thought Claudia’s outfit looked similar to the PVC macs we wore in the early 70’s.

I don't like Michelle and I'm not really sure why, but her performance last night was not dancing, in my view, and I thought Giovanni looked somewhat sheepish about it. I got the impression Michelle might have over-ruled him.

I loved Alex and Neil's dancing, thought they were brilliant. I think Alex is the dark horse, but Kelvin and Karim are fantastic. Suspect the dance-off tonight might be between Chris and Michelle.

Michelle and Giovanni’s choice was poor regardless of whether or not she “danced” well - as it wasn’t really a dance, was it?
Not surprised she was bottom of the table.

Saffron in the dance off??? shock

TerriBull Sun 17-Nov-19 19:36:03

I'm still hoping the final 3 will be Karim, Kelvin and Alex, but Karim would be my overall favourite to win. I've never been keen on Michelle, I particularly didn't like the over emotional intro yesterday or the dance.

Sparklefizz Sun 17-Nov-19 19:41:38

Like Claudia's dress.

merlotgran Sun 17-Nov-19 19:45:18

Yes. Better than the gold pyjamas. grin

Sparklefizz Sun 17-Nov-19 19:45:37

Is anyone else fed up with hearing Emma call Anton "The King of Ballroom"? She says it at least twice each week.

Sparklefizz Sun 17-Nov-19 19:50:20

Saffron & AJ - brilliant.

Sparklefizz Sun 17-Nov-19 19:54:57

I like that result.
Michelle said that her dance was "a mission statement", but in my opinion Strictly is not the time and place for that.

Calendargirl Sun 17-Nov-19 20:14:47

If Michelle and Giovanni had chosen a different dance, I think the judges might have kept her in. She is better than Chris, Emma and Alex really, but not this weekend.

Yehbutnobut Sun 17-Nov-19 20:52:35

The right result.

grannyactivist Sun 17-Nov-19 21:17:30

Definitely the right result tonight in my view. I think all the remaining dancers deserve to still be in contest and wouldn’t mind any of them winning. They have all done amazingly well considering their starting positions at the beginning of the series, but I’ve lost my heart to Karim. Not only is his dancing superb, but he comes across as such a hard working, genuine lad that I’d love to see him lift the trophy.

Treebee Sun 17-Nov-19 21:45:06

Yes, the right result tonight. Vogue wasn’t really a dance, just walking with armography. Thought the band were wonderful though, sounded just like the record. I love all the dancers who are left, but have a soft spot for Chris who is amazing for a non dancer. Having said that I think he’ll leave next week as the others are more accomplished.

Have just caught up with Strictly after a busy weekend looking after my dgd. Michelle looked ridiculous and poor Giovanni having to do that silly vogueing or whatever it's called. She was so much better in the earlier weeks. Karim was fantastic and also the group dance at the beginning of the results programme was proper dancing as it used to be. Shame about all the audience clapping over Westlife singing... spoils it and the laser lighting we get now too. Anton getting 10's who would have thought that would ever happen.

Nannylovesshopping Sat 23-Nov-19 21:06:16

Who on earth told Bruno Tonioli he could sing?☹️

merlotgran Sat 23-Nov-19 21:56:49

Yep! Don't give up the day job, Bruno

Charleygirl5 Sat 23-Nov-19 22:11:32

I have heard worse who are paid millions for the privilege. Maybe I am tone deaf but I did not think he was that bad.

Sara65 Sat 23-Nov-19 22:35:54

He was pretty bad!

Dancing was great tonight though, really enjoyed Karim .

mcem Sat 23-Nov-19 22:55:53

I think we may have seen the last of Saffron!

grannyactivist Sat 23-Nov-19 23:05:01

merlotgran I said exactly the same thing. Fortunately I was watching on iPlayer so able to fast forward. grin

I'm growing ever fonder of Chris and Alex - for two complete novices they really have done incredibly well to stay in the competition thus far.

I don't know why Kelvin's dance didn't seem so good to me this week, but Karim was amazing I thought.

MawB Sat 23-Nov-19 23:41:29

It is hotting up.
Saffron impressed me least - I thought her tempo was too slow for what is meant to be a fast bouncy dance.

Calendargirl Sun 24-Nov-19 08:00:46

I didn’t like the outfits that Kelvin and Oti wore, didn’t seem to suit the dance somehow.
Saffron and Emma for dance off?

TerriBull Sun 24-Nov-19 08:03:55

Happy to see Karim still on top form

Sara65 Sun 24-Nov-19 08:25:11

I think the dance off will be between Saffron and Emma. I didn’t like Kelvins dance very much, and I didn’t like Alex’s Argentine tango, it looked a bit manic.

Chris is growing on me week by week, he definitely gets the most improved badge.

DanniRae Sun 24-Nov-19 08:34:25

Mr R was in the kitchen when Bruno was singing and he called out "Who on earth is that singing - it sounds awful!" And he was right.
I agree with Sara about Emma and Saffron being in the dance off and I didn't like Kelvin's dance much either - and I hated their outfits. Yes, Chris is growing on me too - I hope he lasts another week smile
