Started this thread as a diversion from all the political ones.
Only watched the first half hour as I wasn’t that bothered who was partnered with who really. Find the launch show a bit drawn out TBH.
Realised I only knew 5 of the 15 contestants, but that will change as the weeks go on.
Liked Tess’s gown, thought Claudia’s outfit looked similar to the PVC macs we wore in the early 70’s.

Poor Bruno he did his best. Heard a lot worse from so-called professionals. All credit to him for giving it a go. Remember Pierce Brosnan in Mama Mia??

Yes, Saffron has reached her tipping point.

The Kelvin and Oti dance was 'Northern soul' and the clothes were the kind of thing they wear for Northern soul nights. The judges certainly liked it. I hope Kelvin wins. This series has been a very high standard.

Charleygirl5 Sun 24-Nov-19 09:37:37

I think that Kelvin and Karim will be in the final. I also feel that Saffron is on her way out but I have no idea who will also be dancing again tonight.

annodomini Sun 24-Nov-19 09:44:55

I have a suspicion that the public are voting for Anton to get to the final. Emma wasn't perfect this time, but it was a very challenging quickstep and she acted the Marilyn part rather well. I agree, that Saffron's time is up.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-19 09:47:19

Very high standard of dancing, I thought. At this stage it is always going to be someone good who has to leave.

Didn't enjoy Kelvin's dance particularly, and didn't like the clothes, but didn't know until I read rubysong's post that these are typical "northern soul nights" clothes. He dances fantastically, though, and his vt about his feelings for his wife had me tearful, but I wish they would not try and tug the heartstrings.

I love watching Argentine Tango and thought Alex made a very good job of it. As Motsi said, it's an incredibly complicated dance.

Alex and Chris have done brilliantly to have come from non-acting/dancing backgrounds and to have got this far. I find Chris very likeable. I think Alex would have done even better if she was still paired with Kevin.

Karim's dance was very good but didn't seem to tell any sort of story. I think Craig picked up on that.

I think it will be Saffron and Emma in the dance-off tonight and Saffron to go. I hope it's not Alex as I think she has more to give.

I quite enjoyed Bruno's singing; the resident singers are quite awful sometimes.
I wonder if the other judges will do a speciality turn?
I should like to see Craig and Shirley perform a proper ballroom dance, preferably together.
Motsi I would prefer to stay seated.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-19 11:01:01

Yes eazybee I'd rather see the judges dancing than singing.

Calendargirl Sun 24-Nov-19 11:25:23

I’ve voted for Chris the last two weeks as I think his dancing deserved it. Always try to vote for ones whose performance I like, even if they’re not the best dancers.
Just wish when they are lined up awaiting the results, Chris’ eyes didn’t swivel from side to side. Very off putting.

EllanVannin Sun 24-Nov-19 12:10:30

Kelvin and Karim for me. Marvellous dancers.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-19 19:34:09

Grrr Anton's reaction at getting through ..... sooo annoying and OTT.

MawB Sun 24-Nov-19 19:35:50

He looked like a dog humping his partner ????

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-19 19:44:30

Yesss, that occurred to me too. She actually fell down.

merlotgran Sun 24-Nov-19 19:45:10

I can't believe Karim's in the dance off.

jura2 Sun 24-Nov-19 19:48:13

How can Karim be in the dance off - just unbelievable.

aggie Sun 24-Nov-19 19:49:56

I think it is a fix ! Surely Saffron can't get through

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-19 19:51:01

Perhaps people didn't vote for him because they thought he was safely through.

Dinahmo Sun 24-Nov-19 19:57:15

Sooooooooooo glad Karim got through.

eazybee Sun 24-Nov-19 19:59:19

I would really like to see the voting figures.

jura2 Sun 24-Nov-19 20:01:00

Phhheeeewwww

aggie Sun 24-Nov-19 20:01:02

It is strange that such a good dancer was in the dance off , I too would like to see the votes in the open ,

Calendargirl Sun 24-Nov-19 20:03:44

Perhaps some of the voters were put off by Karim being at the top, but also because we heard a lot of his struggles to get where he is.
Saffron came across as quite ‘young’ both last week and this week when she was in the dance off. Probably unused to losing. The samba was just not her dance.
I think Emma was lucky to get through.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-19 20:10:23

I love Karim's dancing plus he is very likeable, but I thought this Couple's Choice dance was his least appealing. He executed it brilliantly, but the choreography was a bit "spiky" in my view.

Saffron has been a bit spoilt, I think. She is "Nana's favourite" and has possibly been "babied" all her life and used to getting her own way. The samba wasn't her dance, as you say.

Millie22 Sun 24-Nov-19 20:16:38

I've never seen Anton so excited but then he hasn't got to this stage of the competition for a long time. Pleased to see Karim is still in as I voted for him.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-19 20:19:47

I've never seen Anton so excited but then he hasn't got to this stage of the competition for a long time.

Yes. Sigh. He's made that clear sooo many times. It's boring.

jura2 Sun 24-Nov-19 20:25:48

But why on earth would the public vote Karim down- as he is clearly one, or perhaps, the best in this competition - so weird.
