I loved the Black Beauty tv series and remember galloping around the garden singing the theme tune! Also enjoyed Follyfoot, The Sullivans and The Cedar Tree.

Oh yes of course, Black Beauty, also a favourite book, along with Heidi. Wonderful memories.

When I'm having a cleaning spree (which isn't very often) my DH calls me Mrs Scrubbit. She was the cleaner in The Woodentops.

Didn't have TV until I was 17. I left home at 19 and they were everywhere.

Black Beauty

And my second best would have to be the gorgeous Clint walker as Cheyenne Bodie. At the age of 10y I think I fell in love with him. Strong, kind and gentle he roamed the West in the days after the US civil war.

Some of you are very young - my children loved many of these.

Robin Hood and The Lone Ranger.
I also loved one which ran for a short time called Queen's Champion in 1958. Frazer Hines was in it and I recognised him when Emmerdale began.

Picture Book - Mondays
Andy Pandy - Tuesdays
Flowerpot Men - Wednesdays
Rag, Tag and Bobtail - Thursdays
Woodentops - Fridays

Just don't ask me what I did last week?‍♀️

Lamb Chop.

And finally coming in at No. 3 would be the famous ‘Mr. Ed’ and Wilbur.

“A horse is a horse, of course of course
And no one can talk to a horse of course
That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr. Ed.”
? ?

He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse.

He's always on a steady course.

Talk to Mr. Ed.

Prudence Kitten. (no one ever remembers her)
Muffin the Mule; I was distraught when Annette Mills died.
I remember Frazer Hines as Jan in The Silver Sword, 1957.

And seventy one year old me enjoys watching Spirit with my six year old granddaughter, we are equally enthralled.

Back to the thread
My very first crush was Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates in Rawhide.

LauraNorder Sun 10-Jan-21 18:05:21

There was a Brady bunch type of programme with Fred McMurray. Anyone know what I’m on about?

LauraNorder Sun 10-Jan-21 18:09:02

Just come to me, I think it was called ‘My three sons’. I remember enjoying that.

Foxglove77 Sun 10-Jan-21 18:16:27

Oh gosh yes Champion the Wonder Horse, Skippy and Flipper!

lemongrove Sun 10-Jan-21 18:17:12

Didn’t have tv until I was 12/13 but before that I managed to make friends with two girls who’s family did have a set ?
So popped into their houses as often as possible.
I remember liking all sorts of things ( almost anything) including Take Your Pick, and Sunday Night At The London Palladium. Also remember Mr Ed and Four Feather Falls.
When we did get a set I had to watch anything that my Mother wanted to watch ( an eclectic mix!)

TwiceAsNice Sun 10-Jan-21 18:20:21

Champion the wonder horse
Later Bonanza

MayBee70 Sun 10-Jan-21 18:29:07

Pathfinders to Mars/Venus. I think a lot of children’s programmes were regional back then and it took me 40 years to find someone else who watched it. I watched A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood the other day and I think Fred Rogers influenced children’s programmes in the U.K., eg Playschool. The. Children of the New Forest was a favourite but only because I had a crush on Humphrey. I preferred Fury to Champion because he was darker and I like dark horses.

Nanna58 Sun 10-Jan-21 18:32:46

Bill and Ben ,I loved them! Also the Woodentops. But being a Sarf East London child I always found understanding the terribly, terribly posh presenter a problem>!!!??
