Is Naga Munchetty a TV turn off?

I am finding Naga Munchetty increasingly rude. She asks a guest a question then doesn't always have the manners to allow them to reply. She butts in or shouts over them. Her comments and tone of voice are often patronising. Her latest performance was to poke fun at Robert Jenrick's Union Jack flag and the photograph of our Queen. She even went the extra mile by liking tweets about it. Her lukewarm 'apology' is clearly not made from her own conscience but from a ticking off she has received from her bosses.

Jacqrose I think they probably would call themselves that, but tbh the line blurs this side of the screen. But yes, you're right - one of my can't find the right word days! It would be good to see some new faces though - I've got to the stage of not listening to what they say at all and end up critiquing Charlie's haircut and Naga's taste in fashion. They just don't hold my attention any more, and as TV Journalists they should.

I love the flags. I'd have one in my garden like the Americans do, but DH is not keen.

Boz I agree bbc breakfast so boring. They do a lot of human interest stories and stuff about people sailing and cycling. Sky News informative but not Kay Burley, though that is a whole other thread I suspect.

NellG Agree with you. Also, since lockdown and no barbers Charlie’s hair is so long and thick it could have a programme of its own grin

To answer the OP, yes NM is a turn off as far as I am concerned, also her sidekick, Charlie somebody ( who always seems half asleep.)
They both make the same mistake that lots of presenters do now: they think we are more interested in their personal views over the person being interviewed/ spoken of.
I don’t watch them at all anymore.

i don't watch daytime tv.
i don't care for that presenter, nor on radio.
but the thing about the flags, weren't they gently ribbing the MP about the size and prominence of his flag, as if engaging in my-flag's-bigger-than-your-flag oneupmanship ?
the MP seemed to understand and take it in that way.
it wasn't an attack on flags/nation per se, was it ?

So on this thread the BBC has been described as having a left wing bias and a Conservative management.

Which is it? Can’t be both surely ?

I don’t watch breakfast TV so can’t comment on Naga except to say it seems unfair if she is getting the flak for a remark her co-presenter made.

Welbeck i would say you could be right.

Yes Jacqrose. I really dislike the BBC emphasis on human interest stories (much loved by the now sulky-looking Victoria Derbyshire) and health issues. I like Politics and World affairs - even for breakfast!

I saw Naga and Charlie recently on Saturday Morning Kitchen. Their behaviour was childish and rude throughout the programme. Poor Matt Tebutt tried to laugh it off but he looked very uncomfortable.

A little girl was leaning into a lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, all under the eyes of her screaming parents:
A biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.

Whimpering from the pain, the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.

A BBC reporter, Laura Kuenssberg, had watched the whole event.

Laura, addressing the Harley rider says. "Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.”
The Harley rider replies. "Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.”

Miss Kuenssberg. "Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a BBC journalist, you know and tomorrow's news will run this story. So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?”

The biker replies. "I'm a British Army veteran, a Conservative and I voted for Brexit.”

The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker turns on BBC News to see if it indeed brings news of his actions.

BBC Headline: RIGHT WING UK VETERAN ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH.

And THAT pretty much sums up the BBC's approach to the news these days....??
