Heard Adele new song today on the radio and again on the lunch time BBC news, which everyone is raving about, but DH and I couldn't understand a word she was saying? We have previously liked her music but don't think I will be rushing to download this one. Also is it "News" that she has released another album? What do others think?

Well done to Adele at the latest woke Music Awards ceremony being brave enough to say she liked being a woman ?

I like her music but don’t like what she’s done to her face.

I agree with that statement

I agree with her sentiments entirely - including that having an award for the best song/singer/musician is sensible. There is no need to have a male prize and a female one, as far as I can see; but there is definitely a need to have sport segregated by sex rather than 'gender', as that is a very different ball game (no pun intended!).

If the decision had been made on the grounds of 'no need to have two sets of prizes' it would have been better than doing it to placate Sam Smith, though. I like his music, and he does seem to be less whiney since he declared himself non-binary, which I hope means that he is happier than before; but I don't believe that policies should be driven by tiny minorities, or on the basis of 'gender'. If there is a need for two categories, they should be male and female, based on sex, and then there is no doubt about who should enter which one.

I also think that we need to keep an eye on the distribution of the prizes, and be prepared to reverse the decision if necessary, in case the majority get handed to men, as is often the way when men and women 'compete' (I'm thinking grammar school places, management roles and so on).

Squiffy

I understand that the album's about her divorce. How uplifting! Her ex-husband must be thrilled!

Oh, that's already been done, surely!

Can't get better than that one.

Music awards nowadays are a total farce. I loved Skyfall and Rolling in the Deep but her songs are so miserable I could not listen to a whole album. The lady can sing but I think she has become completely self absorbed. Miraculous recovery from whatever was wrong in Las Vegas. If Id paid the ticket money that some fans did, I don't think I'd be too chuffed with Adele right now.

I think the LV problem was with getting the staging right, as staff were off with Covid and deliveries were held up. As far as I know there is no suggestion that Adele had Covid herself.

I find her voice has a very attractive lilt but her personna certainly doesn't do it for me.

Too samey, again! Poor husband and child. I find it worrying that so many young girls idolise her too.
