For me it's Anything Goes, a recording of the West End show with Robert Lindsay and Felicity Kendal. BBC2, Boxing Day.

Last year the first episode of Bridgerton aired on Christmas Day and it apparently got incredibly high viewing figures. I know they are making a 2nd series which I was hoping would air this year on Christmas Day but Covid has held it up. sad

Kiss me Kate and Guys and Dolls on Wednesday afternoon
The midwives
And that’s it I think !!!!

It used to be worth buying the Radio Times, no more And Oh for a bit of the White Heather Club to bring in Hogmanay properly - thank the Lord for BBC Alba

Agree with most suggestions though would like to add the Strictly Come Dancing special on Christmas Day. To "top up" the TV schedule, I shall be buying the DVD of the latest James Bond film (out on 20th Dec) to watch on Christmas Day.

I am looking forward to Around The World in 80 Days but I was disappointed to see it is on over a number of nights. I'll have to binge watch it at some time. On New Year's Day morning (I know not Christmas but ....) I enjoy the New Year's Day Gala live from Vienna. I sit there in the morning (on my own not my OH's idea of fun) with a bottle of Mumm champagne and a few nibbles and love the music, the dancing and usually the folk in the audience. For some reason I usually snooze all New Year's Day afternoon blush

Nothing its all rubbish

I want to see Allegra Stratton again with a new round of questions!

Just wish there were more “feel good” programmes. All the drama series are very dark. I guess that’s why the Repair Shop is so popular, we do need a bit if cheer. Last year I was with eldest DD and husband and we came across a whole lot of very old Morecombe & Wise shows which had us in hysterics. DD said it was so silly and so innocent and a relief. Similar to Dad’s Army.

Love Actually
Crocodile Dundee 1 and 2

I am almost word perfect for all 3?

Such a shame they don't make entertaining family films like this now. I don't want to watch all the new superhero stuff. My DC loved the original Superman films though.

coastalgran Sun 19-Dec-21 10:47:51

Carols at Kings is when my Christmas starts, Death In Paradise, Strictly Come Dancing, Downton Abbey film, then the New Year's Day concert from Vienna rounds it all off for another year.

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 19-Dec-21 10:49:34

Haven't really looked to see what's on!
but Call the midwife

you might be able to get The White Heather club on Utube Neilspurgeon0 - I would love that, too. A wee bit of Andy Stewart
DH will probably tour the programmes until he finds
Murder She wrote
Poirot
and any programme about train journeys!

Thankfully we have more than one telly!!

thought most of it dross years ago we would be like "watch" record etc not anymore we have so many channels and less we want to watch. and don't get me started on the BBC

Yes, I really resent the fact that the BBC repeats so many programmes, and a lot of it wasn't much good the first (second, third or fourth...) time round. I rarely watch the BBC now, apart from Call the Midwife - and DH won't watch that with me. I'm in the apparent minority who don't like Strictly.
We've been downloading lots of crime series from ITV1, ITV3 and Sky channels, and can usually find something on Netflix.

Nothing much on our free to air. Just hope it is good weather and we can have a swim. Watched one series of Mr. Mercedes but it started to make me feel sick, pretty foul so I won’t be watching the next series.

Esspee Sun 19-Dec-21 11:02:57

If you want to know what’s on you can PM me. I have an old copy of the Radio Times dated 1982.

Scottiebear Sun 19-Dec-21 11:05:35

I actually think there's more I fancy on this year than usual at Christmas. Death in Paradise. Paul O'Grady. All Creatures great and small. Round the world in 80 days. And a few other things.

Witzend Sun 19-Dec-21 11:05:54

Carols from Kings and the Christmas Eve ghost story.*
Must go through the Radio Times and highlight what else is worth recording.

Yesterday I deleted a load of stuff to make room on the disc, and while I was at it, re watched The Snowman And The Snowdog, recorded a couple of years ago.

Another I’d forgotten but will def watch again, is Dance to Freedom - a film about Rudolf Nureyev’s defection - utterly brilliant. The actor who played RN was the absolute spit of him.

*there’s a new Shaun The Sheep cartoon too - will def. be recording that, only partly for Gdcs. I found the only previous one I’ve seen hilarious.

Madashell Sun 19-Dec-21 11:06:12

Bought the Radio Times hoping to see something that grabs me but nothing In particular, with the exception of It’s a Wonderful LifeI usually listen to Radio 4 or 4 Extra during the day - anything that makes me laugh or think. I love Count Arthur Strong’s radio show 11:30 am Xmas Eve, Dead Ringers, Moominland Winter (Xmas Day), Ed Reardon’s Christmas week. Plus on Sounds 90 minute Mclevy with a Christmas theme, and, of course Fi and Jane’s Fortunately podcast. And this week InOur Time was an analysis of A Christmas Carol. I’ll have to see what’s on Talking Pictures TV but can’t stand all the ads. How many films have been made over the 100+years of cinema? And why do we just get the same old churn of a handful? I’m beginning to know the scripts. I shall watch Monsieur Houlot’s Holiday when I need something gentle and absurd. Happy watching, listening, reading, puzzling or whatever.

Lessons and Carol's Christmas eve radio 4

SillyNanny321 Sun 19-Dec-21 11:23:29

Catching up on Disney+ Hawkeye & then going to The Witcher season2. Seems I am alone in my choices but me & my cat will be happy?

Lupin Sun 19-Dec-21 11:33:36

I didn't get out in time to buy my Saturday paper with its TV magazine so this thread has been very useful.
I got up at 7.30, took my tablets, got back into bed for half an hour to give them a chance to work, and went back to sleep. When I woke up it was 11.45 am. Still can't believe I did that.
All the papers were gone when I did surface in the local store.
I will look out for Midwife and Christmas carols and Death in Paradise.
Happy Christmas to one and all.

Sweetpea60 Sun 19-Dec-21 11:34:54

Nothing most of it is repeats.im sticking to watching films on YouTube and netflix.

HannahLoisLuke Sun 19-Dec-21 11:59:19

I just wish there was something new to look forward to rather than Christmas Specials of all the old tired stuff.
Sorry to be a misery but it’s always the same. I’m almost expecting Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show!

mrswoo Sun 19-Dec-21 12:06:31

Around the World in 80 Days looks good.
I will definitely be watching the British Scandal about the Duchess of Argyll.
Possibly watching All Creatures Great and Small
I won't be watching Call the Midwife as Miriam Margolyes is in it and, I apologise to any fans reading this, I cannot stand her, even when playing a part.
