For me (us) - we have switched to ITV because Tom Bradby is amazing. Human, with just a touch of sarcasm, SOH and despair- and a face and expression that says it all, while remaining totally professional.

Wonderful man.

Calendargirl Wed 12-Jan-22 07:16:06

Don’t listen to ITV News, stick to BBC.

Not keen on Tom Bradby after the fawning interview with the Sussexes, when he asked how Meghan was, and she thanked him for asking, nobody else did apparently.

Sarnia Wed 12-Jan-22 08:33:34

I like Clive Myrie. I dislike Tom Bradby for the same reason as Calendargirl .

kittylester Wed 12-Jan-22 08:41:21

I agree with calendargirl and sarnia about Tom Bradby.

What makes you think he is a 'Wonderful man', Kali? Do you know him personally?

We watch either BBC or SKY but the adverts on Sky drive me bonkers.

Josieann Wed 12-Jan-22 08:45:07

I think Bradby is immature with his comments and expressions. And yes Calendargirl sums him up.
I wish George Alagiah were on.

Kim19 Wed 12-Jan-22 08:46:44

I've moved on to Channels 4 & 5 for news nowadays but I even limit my intake of that in favour of altogether lighter stuff.

MerylStreep Wed 12-Jan-22 08:56:48

How sad that someone thinks that a man who reads the news is amazing
Scientist who find a way to burst blood clots ( in the news yesterday) are amazing not a bloke in a suit reading an autocue.

Iam64 Wed 12-Jan-22 08:58:51

Channel 4
I like Emma Barnett and Peter Robinson

Anniebach Wed 12-Jan-22 09:09:19

Huw Edwards

shysal Wed 12-Jan-22 09:15:59

Charlene White on ITV. Having seen her on her documentary and Loose Women I like her personality.

Nortsat Wed 12-Jan-22 09:49:51

BBC - it’s Jane Hill.

We prefer C4 News there days,as the quality of BBC news has deteriorated significantly, in our view. We consider Matt Frei C4’s best newsreader.

Is that you Mrs Bradby?

Huw Edwards

henetha Wed 12-Jan-22 10:39:19

I like all the BBC ones . But I also like Tom Bradby who has a whimsical way of conveying the news. So I often switch over to the ten o'clock news on ITV if he's on.

Aveline Wed 12-Jan-22 10:39:34

I've always like Huw Edwards. He seems so sincere somehow. However, I got so fed up with the news when it was Brexit Brexit Brexit and really only check for the headlines these days. I prefer to read the papers for more in depth news and commentary.

LauraNorderr Wed 12-Jan-22 10:47:05

Huw Edwards for me too. Professional, neutral and easy on the eye.
Agree with others that aren’t keen on Tom Bradby, I want to hear the news not his interpretation of it.
Like Aveline I do prefer to read the news.

TerriBull Wed 12-Jan-22 11:19:57

I don't find Tom Bradby amazing, how strange! irritating almost certainly, especially with some of his asides, for example "make of that what you will" he seems to be the master of superfluous inane comments, hmm

Personally I love George Alagiah, lovely man, always delivered the news in a professional way, sadly suffering from cancer now.

libra10 Wed 12-Jan-22 11:23:44

I think that most news presenters are biased, can't think of any who are non-partisan.

Surely a new reader's role is to present the news in an unbiased yet meaningful way, and none come to mind.

libra10 Wed 12-Jan-22 11:25:00

Last sentence should read 'news reader ...'

Aveline Wed 12-Jan-22 13:20:45

George Alagiah is very good too. Seems like a nice man. I was very sorry to hear of his illness.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 12-Jan-22 14:10:58

I like Clive Myrie, also George Alagiah and am sad he’s so ill. For someone who seems friendly and ordinary I like Martine Croxall on BBC, also Rita Chakrabati seems a lovely lady.

Jane43 Thu 13-Jan-22 12:01:45

Another vote for Clive Myrie and I dislike Tom Bradby too for the reasons given by others. Rita Chakrabati is my second choice.

Calistemon Thu 13-Jan-22 12:50:45

I wish George Alagiah were on.

I don't like Bradby's style either.

I want a newsreader to read the news, not give me his opinion on it or make quips or comments.
He should keep his opinions to himself; he is just reading the news not discussing it.

Yes, I agree about George Alagiah and Clive Myrie

I like Rita Chakrabrati, a calm and pleasant voice in a turbulent world!

Oh yes, Charlene White and Jane Hill.
Huw is OK too.

In fact, anyone who delivers the news without making their own comments.

The BBC woman reporting from Australia on the Djokovic debacle is dreadful - very biased towards Djokovic and angry with the Australian government.

Lexisgranny Thu 13-Jan-22 13:06:38

I do not care for Tom Bradbury, I, too, like Huw Edwards. Dh dislikes Rita Chakrabrati because she cannot keep her head still when she talks!
