So have switched onto Netflix - wanted to see for myself what the 'fuss' is all about as many diverse opinions on this couple on here and other social platforms ...as well as the media with 'experts' who state this and that etc etc...

The children all look relatively normal to me. I don’t see any issues with Louis. Having said that, a winter photo might have been more appropriate but their photo, their choice. It’s just a photo.

FannyCornforth Wed 14-Dec-22 17:52:23

At the risk of stirring things up again, can we just move on please Joseanne?
I hope that you have read all of my posts. At no point did I cast aspersions on anyone.
I have bent over backwards to explain my posts - in spite of being on the spectrum myself.
It upsets me that mentioning ASC is so taboo.
I’ll be more careful in future

Lathyrus Wed 14-Dec-22 18:03:17

The issue was the discussion of children on a public forum.

Named, identified children.

Labelling them, without the least shred of evidence. Quoting “experts” opinions about them.

Don’t try to shift it into something else. It wasn’t about ASC is taboo. It wasn’t about autism is taboo.

It was about the children.

Little children

Joseanne Wed 14-Dec-22 18:06:01

No Fanny it has troubled me on and off today, but I know you didn't start the negative observations. This one set the tone ......
^Anyone notice that Louis is not holding Charlotte's hand and Katherine seems to have him gripped firmly round the wrist??
Troublemaker????^
I think what niggles me most was that on that thread 18 months ago on GN it was agreed amongst pretty much all GNs that the children were off limits. But we have had posters laying into Louis, George and Louise since then.

Joseanne Wed 14-Dec-22 18:07:55

Actually I could say something about Archie from the Netflix episode but I won't.

FannyCornforth Wed 14-Dec-22 18:08:03

Thank you Joseanne thanks

Actually I could say something about Archie from the Netflix episode but I won't.

No please don’t.

I can’t imagine what it’s like to be their mums and dads and know that people posting anything they like on social media about your children.

FannyCornforth Wed 14-Dec-22 18:11:33

Lathyrus there is absolutely no point in me engaging with you.
So I won’t from now on.
Please feel free to ignore me too.
I’m not on here for a barny

Joseanne Wed 14-Dec-22 18:13:50

And I have just looked back and seen the autism comment has been deleted by GNHQ so I'm guessing there were reports.

*me

Lathyrus Wed 14-Dec-22 18:15:36

I’m not on here for a Barney either.

I’m here because I was and still am truly appalled that anyone could even think about using small children in this way.

And then try to justify it by saying people who protested were somehow expressing antipathy to autism. Trying to turn it.

A simple apology. “I shouldn’t have done that” would have been something.

Sorry. It’s upset me so much I probably need to go away for the evening.🙁

Ultimately it just goes to show the level of hypocrisy of some. Castigating gn’s for criticising H&M but quite happy to make totally fallacious posts about William and Kate’s children based on a Christmas card! Saying Kate is gripping Louis around his wrist even though she isn’t. The inference being he’s some kind of wild child that needs controlling and he’ll ruin the RF’s image! Revolting.

FannyCornforth Wed 14-Dec-22 18:25:39

BUT I DID NOT DIAGNOSE ANYONE with autism.
Just let it blooming go

Sorry, I shouldn’t have done that.
(Even if I didn’t actually do that)

Lillianne Wed 14-Dec-22 18:31:56

Ah, a passive aggressive apology - always helpful (not)

Lathyrus Wed 14-Dec-22 18:32:08

No that was Gagajo.

Glorianna who designated Louis a troublemaker.

You were the one who moved onto George.

Anniebach Wed 14-Dec-22 18:36:02

Doubt GransNet can now sink any lower, the child is 4 years old,

Oh for heaven’s sake
Have you actually read what I’ve said?
I’m hiding this thread now.
So you can demonise me to your heart’s content. Crack on

VioletSky Wed 14-Dec-22 18:49:57

Honestly

This is very daft

A autistic people are wonderful

B a SEND teacher making a comment is just a person who typically observes children for signs of autism, observing a child and making a comment on it

Occasionally people with experience have asked me if my child is autistic after meeting her and I've just said yes, she is. She is and if it didn't show sometimes she wouldn't need a diagnosis in the first place

C gransnet is not a big deal, I've been to bigger coffee mornings, as long as we aren't being actually offensive we should be able to make an observation without waving the pitchforks and building a wickerman

Anniebach Wed 14-Dec-22 18:52:50

You are being offensive

VioletSky Wed 14-Dec-22 18:53:35

Well best get waving the pitchforks then

25Avalon Wed 14-Dec-22 18:54:51

Are you sure Catherine is holding Louis’s wrist? It doesn’t look like that to me. One thing for certain he is not holding his sister’s hand - typical little boy?
