So have switched onto Netflix - wanted to see for myself what the 'fuss' is all about as many diverse opinions on this couple on here and other social platforms ...as well as the media with 'experts' who state this and that etc etc...

I'm equal opportunity, I will stick up for anyone who is getting an unreasonably hard time

I'm so tired of this nonsense

icanhandthemback Wed 14-Dec-22 19:11:56

It takes a whole team of people (and a computer programme) to diagnose a child with ASD so any SEND teacher (which was also my specialism) should not be diagnosing anybody. You might have suspicions or note traits but telling a parent that its child is autistic is overstepping.

I'm equal opportunity, I will stick up for anyone who is getting an unreasonably hard time

I'm with you there most of the time!

VioletSky Wed 14-Dec-22 19:17:10

Oh definitely, but that's not happened here at all

I work in SEN and would never say I thought a child was autistic to a parent but it hasn't bothered me when someone has said it to me... I've been asked if I'm autistic lots of times too

It's not at all insulting

Is what I mean

I remember a while back, think it was a christmas occasion, the Cambridge children, (as they were then) were taken out on a London street with their parents, and Charlotte noticeably refused to hold her dad William’s hand.

We all thought that showed what a feisty independent little girl she was.

Catherine and Louis are quite clearly holding hands.

It is wrong to post anything about a child on a public forum, naming and identifying them. It is wrong to use somebody else’s child, a real child to advance your own agenda and prejudices.

Some people think it’s fine. Anybody can be a target for them. Even a child.

Me. I think it’s wrong.

Smileless2012 Wed 14-Dec-22 20:16:45

I agree Lathyrus, what if this was one of our GCsad.

VioletSky Wed 14-Dec-22 21:46:33

So boring

*goes to bed

Callistemon21 Wed 14-Dec-22 21:50:29

So?
You're an adult
Have these people posted that on social media too?

Callistemon21 Wed 14-Dec-22 21:53:05

He's holding his Mum's hand.

Perhaps his sister had just told him to stop waving as she did at the Jubilee. 😁

nanna8 Wed 14-Dec-22 21:57:25

Can we please not discuss children? I find it most uncomfortable and unfair.

GrannyRose15 Wed 14-Dec-22 22:08:21

What does ASC stand for? Just interested as I've not heard the term before.

I’m glad to hear that VioletSky - you’re a TA aren’t you? Not a SENDCO, an Educational Psychologist, a paediatrician, or a Behaviour Team teacher?

Sorry!

I did laugh when they were in the carriage at the Jubilee and Charlotte stopped Louis waving so enthusiastically.

A typical older sister 😀

Bit rude and dismissive.

Another day, another GN row.

As someone else said, you crack on.

VioletSky Thu 15-Dec-22 07:22:50

Yay! Another person I don't recognise telling me my job

I also have training in SEN and emotional support

And I'm not interested in arguing, it's boring

Joseanne Thu 15-Dec-22 08:03:17

Another day and the next lot of Netflix episodes are now here!

‘Morning Joseanne!

Joseanne Thu 15-Dec-22 08:18:12

👍 Fanny
Front row or stalls for you today? 🎥

Joseanne Thu 15-Dec-22 08:20:25

I'm in the getting dress circle but ghave a clash with yet another carol service, so might not see it all today.

FannyCornforth Thu 15-Dec-22 08:41:47

MrC is actually more keen than I am! But I may humour him and watch it too.
Last week’s offerings were so all over the press etc, that if you didn’t watch on the first day, there was very little point in watching at all.
Jan Moir is reviewing it on Nick Ferrari on LBC shortly.
Nick said that Obid Scobie was unavailable grin
Enjoy your Carol Service smile

eazybee Thu 15-Dec-22 09:19:08

Sara74. Her comment was not 'rude and dismissive', it was completely accurate and professional.

Two of the most important things to remember in dealing with Special Needs are complete confidentiality, and the danger of making snap diagnoses on the basis of very limited knowledge.

Honestly some of you lot on here sound as if you were born in 1850 not 1950s+!!! What old fashioned school marm type attitudes displaying?!
It's traditional for a family photo! Nobody had anything to say about Diana and her schmaltzy cheesy cards of her and Charles or kids did they? I wish some would button it , you're an embarrassment for modern UK!!!

Maybe they did! How would you possibly know? Why were they cheesy ? Or schmaltzy ? Any more than any family photos Christmas card?
