Anyone heard tonight’s episode? If not and you are a long time listener I advise you to listen on catch-up. No spoilers

eGJ Fri 27-Jan-23 19:15:39

A happier episode to end this dramatic week! And well done Neil!

Can’t imagine that Jennifer would refuse a possible life saving operation as it might upset everyone and make them think of it whenever they were with her. What effect did she think her dying would have on them. Sorry but think this is a cop out by the scriptwriters to explain why she hadn’t been treated apart from some medication. Could she not have been on an NHS waiting list? That would have been believable!

I'd just imagined it was one of those situations where treatment can brutally affect quality of life with ?? uncertain outcome or only a little longer as a result of treatment..

What will happen to all those cashmere jumpers she loved buying in Underwoods? Will Lillian inherit them or will Kate use them to make something creative out of them for Spiritual Home?

I wonder whether the actress playing Jennifer (Angela) is ill herself or just retiring after being Jennifer since 1963. I started work that year but retired some years ago.
Its all been quiet about the reason, if there is one. None of our business of course. Just curious.

NotSpaghetti Tue 31-Jan-23 03:17:05

pieinthesky I didn't hear it like that.
I thought she didn't want to tell them about her condition given that she didn't want surgery.

Iam64 Tue 31-Jan-23 08:12:48

silver lining, the actor who has played Jennifer so long, has been too I’ll to record. That’s why she’s been silent and has now died.

Franbern Tue 31-Jan-23 16:51:12

Iam64 where did you see information about the demise of Angela Piper. I thought she had just decided to retire from acting.

NotSpaghetti Tue 31-Jan-23 17:26:48

franbern I don't think she's dead, but I also read not well. She was technically retiring I think.

NotSpaghetti Tue 31-Jan-23 17:29:38

She had a stroke apparently.

Gin Tue 31-Jan-23 17:39:17

I read today that these are just rumours and she is fit and well, living in Suffolk but after acting for so long she wanted to retire and who can blame her?

Gin

If that’s the case I wonder why they waited a year before killing her off.

Fran bern, sincere apologies, badly written (by me As Rob might have said.

Angela Piper had a stroke, which was serious enough to stop her recording. She is alive, her character Jenny Dahling has died.
So sorry for posting in haste

With Jennifer, Shula, Peggy, Christine, Joe and Robert gone or no longer participating, there are not many of the old crew left! I wonder who will be next to depart?

eGJ Sun 05-Feb-23 18:32:30

Is Brian here for the duration?

NotSpaghetti Sun 05-Feb-23 20:30:04

He says so, eGJ

eGJ Sun 05-Feb-23 21:14:40

Thanks NotS After tonight we may have heard the last of Julianne!

NotSpaghetti Sun 05-Feb-23 22:15:24

Ha ha! Yes. Maybe eGJ

Elrel Sun 05-Feb-23 22:44:20

Ruairi’s mental health must surely need as much care as Ben’s. I hope he soon gets it.

eGJ Tue 07-Feb-23 09:57:44

NotS Julianne is in next week’s cast, so that avenue is still open and Noluthando is back too!

Elrel Thu 09-Feb-23 20:00:03

Go Alice! She’s really stepped up for her half=brother. Go Freddie too, great mediator! The next generation starting to take the lead, perhaps?

NotSpaghetti Fri 10-Feb-23 08:51:32

I would love to see Freddie going out with Chelsea!
She drives and challenges him and he gives her a boost and is encouraging.

I think she needs a little salon in an empty stable block next.... 🤞

NotSpaghetti Fri 10-Feb-23 08:52:27

Maybe Ben and Ruaribwill be mutually supportive now.

Davida1968 Fri 10-Feb-23 09:46:42

NotSpaghetti, I too have wondered whether Freddie & Chelsea may (in the fullness of time) end up together/married. Then Chelsea would be the "chatelaine" of Lower Loxley; quite a step up for a mere Grundy. (Susan would be beside herself with pride!)

rubysong Fri 10-Feb-23 12:11:56

Chelsea is a Horrobin (Susan's niece I think). I had to look her up as I am out of date with the Archers and there are so many new characters and youngsters growing up. Yes, it would be great if she married Freddie.
