Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

NotSpaghetti Mon 12-May-25 18:39:57

I hope Chris doesn't have to move out now!

I thought Peggy was paying Auntie Chris’s fees at the Laurels as well as her own or did that come to an end?

Oh, yes. With that and the re-wilding, unless she was richer than Bill Gates, there's not going to be much left.

merlotgran Mon 12-May-25 19:52:24

Another puzzling storyline was that Peggy was going to leave The Lodge to Helen then changed her mind because Tony was upset so she changed her will in his favour. She then decided to sell it to pay her fees at The Laurels. 🤔
I never liked the way she used her money to manipulate her family and her standing in the village . I’m glad Alan stood up to her over the stained glass window.

Tom and Natasha have already planned how to spend their inheritance, but surely Peggy will leave it all to the cat? 🐈‍⬛

NotSpaghetti Tue 13-May-25 01:18:04

I hope so! grin

Has anyone else come across these two spin-off dramas?

The man who wrote it was on the Archers podcast with Emna Freud.

Ive+missed the last few weeks and just found out Peggy died, how much money has she left to her family, never understood why she paid care home fees for Chris. Tom made a mistake marrying Natasha, still think he will end up with Kirsty. Helen is a nighmare, hope Rex doesn't end up with her. Rochelle a mess due to Joy treating her daughter so badly. None of the women are much good except Tracy and that is saying something but i still keep listening.

merlotgran Sun 18-May-25 15:02:51

Peggy appears to have left a small amount (under £300) to each of her family members. Tom, like the rest of us, is wondering what happened to the rest.

I don’t understand how Peggy was so rich in the first place. She sold the Bull and Jack Woolley left her The Lodge and enough to live on but why does everyone assume she has millions stashed away. What have I missed?

NotSpaghetti Sun 18-May-25 15:38:03

Jack Woolley owned Grey Gables don't forget.

Wyllow3 Sun 18-May-25 15:50:31

Yes, still in there, rarely miss an episode. Book marking. Recently been interested in the Rochelle storyline, arrival of Malik family, and of course the drama of The Will. Poor Clarrie....time for Freddie to find The One, what will happen when George gets out...

Jack Woolley owned Grey Gables don't forget.

But he left the bulk of his estate to Hazel. Peggy got The Lodge and ‘enough to live on.’ 🤔

NotSpaghetti Sun 18-May-25 18:20:32

Oh yes. I forgot about Hazel.

I do hope the "Ask for Angela" is followed up properly. Good publicity for it

Wyllow3 Wed 21-May-25 19:24:08

I hadn't heard of it - it was excellent to have it on and perhaps someone repeating the story in the village a couple of times would help. Sometimes "issues" are a bit clumsily dealt with but this was spot on. We've also had online safety for teenagers and again, dealt with quite well.

eGJ Wed 21-May-25 19:27:03

The Archers gets it right this time! Not sure if it will be repeated in the village, but all,of us know now!

merlotgran Wed 21-May-25 19:56:40

I hope Helen doesn’t swipe right on somebody called Darren.

Ellie Anne Sat 24-May-25 22:40:21

Peggy had plenty money when she set up rewilding

NotSpaghetti Mon 26-May-25 09:52:34

I really wanted Falon to set up at the charging station.
What had happened to her policeman husband (in real life) that takes him out of the script for so long?
Does anyone know?

Wyllow3 Mon 26-May-25 11:10:45

I think I found the answer by googling,

"Yes, James Cartwright has left his role as Harrison "PC Burns" in The Archers. He is currently working on other acting projects, including a role in Coronation Street, Metro.co.uk says. While his departure from The Archers is not permanent he has been working on other projects, Metro.co.uk reports.

NotSpaghetti Mon 26-May-25 11:17:02

Thanks Wyllow3
That was very lazy of me!
I have Google too...
grin

..thank you for finding out!

vegansrock Mon 26-May-25 11:24:03

He is a gay builder in Corrie

Wyllow3 Mon 26-May-25 11:30:04

It probably pays a lot more. But won't cost much to bring him back for one sesh on a visit.

That pre-school/nursery is being rather heavy handed of their perceptions of Martha’s concentration span. Preparing for Reception should cover a range of activities and getting a four year to concentrate is part of this. Am I alone in feeling this is OTT? And Helen’s date! We seem to have Script Writers for just a week and the next week new topics appear!

Wyllow3 Fri 30-May-25 19:42:17

A plot device to trigger Alice's worries and a promise from Lillian to stay around? I thought maybe its as simple as Martha can always get 1 2 1 attention from adults and not used to getting on with things without it, but cant get what she is used to from a busy teacher. I hope she shares her worries with Chris, tho.
