There's a new series that has recently been loaded on to BBC IPlayer, an Irish/New Zealand collaboration. Irish Detective leaves his native Dublin to team up with his female New Zealand counterpart to jointly investigate the disappearance of a young Irish couple who have been in NZ for a few months. Watched the first episode last night, ok so far. Filmed in the north island, outside Auckland somewhere, looks lush and green a bit like Wales. Might be of interest to those who have been out to NZ, I'm half watching it for the scenery, we have friends in that part of the world.

I loved A Place to Call Home.

I started watching it in Australia but haven't seen the last episodes so may have to start from the beginning again.

Apparently the lead actress was very good in Janet King but I'm not sure if that is available here.

Why do they have to leave series on a cliffhanger?

Gransnet is great for TV recommendations.

We often get stuff made in Australia some time after the UK gets it. No idea why, possibly we don’t pay enough? Our actors and actresses don’t get huge wages.

Thank you Terri, on seeing this yesterday I watched the first 2 episodes last night. Really enjoyed them but thought screen quite dark and dialogue mumbly but now I know how to find subtitles I will continue to watch.

Also thank you BarbadosBelle for some great recommendations will write them down for reference.

I still didn't get the subtitles even though we found the button and switched On.

To get iPlayer subtitles click on screen and then on middle icon at top (arrowed in my pic) for subtitles menu.

We don't have that, Pittcity.

A menu comes up on the left hand side with various settings, you can put subtitles on so I did, but they didn't appear.

We did manage to understand most of it with thd volume turned up and a couple of rewind!
