Viewed this but turned off … he’s so self indulgent..says it was an unwise decision but IMO it was an inappropriate decision and really feel for his wife and girls.. what do others think?

I agree Galaxy. Nothing illegal according to Schofield but gay men befriending 15 year old boys raises the same concerns that would arise with a middle aged man and a 15 year old girl. Why would any sensible, ethical man do this

Did the police look into it? If he has done something illegal surely they should have investigated it.

No so far as I’m aware, no complaint from the young man who signed a NDA

Smileless2012 Wed 02-Oct-24 21:08:11

Hugh Edwards was charged, tried and convicted in a court of law Galaxy; PS has not. He's been accused, tried and convicted by social media.

One can be ethical but not always sensible Iam; the two are not diametrically opposed.

So do you think something illegal happened and the police are just ignoring it? That doesn't seem likely does it so your "nothing illegal according to Schofield" seems a bit unfair as it looks like nothing illegal happened.

Groomed individuals typically do not realise they've been groomed. That's the point of grooming, the individual thinks they've come to this position entirely of their own volition.

Anniebach Wed 02-Oct-24 22:15:32

So those who come forward are lying ?

Doodledog Wed 02-Oct-24 23:00:04

No. Not lying.

Those who come forward risk having nobody willing to corroborate their story for the reasons given in my earlier post, and/or are bought off with money in return for signing an NDA. If they are young and/or not established in a career they may not be able to afford to say no, as they know their careers will be stalled.

icanhandthemback Wed 02-Oct-24 23:16:16

The police cannot charge Philip Schofield without evidence. The young man involved does not wish to make a formal complaint and has also received a sum of money to keep his mouth shut. That isn't to say that PS did anything illegal, it is just a good reason as to why there were no charges brought if there was anything illegal.
The basic problem seems to me that there was a breach of trust between PS, his agency and ITV because he lied. There is so much homosexuality in tv, I doubt his disappearance from our screens had anything to do with homophobia.

Anniebach Wed 02-Oct-24 23:28:34

Did the young man disclose details of the money he was paid ?

Doodledog Thu 03-Oct-24 00:03:18

Do you understand what a non-disclosure agreement is?

icanhandthemback Thu 03-Oct-24 00:51:42

Anniebach

Did the young man disclose details of the money he was paid ?

No but Schofield's lawyer has confirmed a substantial sum was paid to the gentleman concerned. It is reported it was a 6 figure sum. I am assuming it wasn't £1000.11!

Anniebach Thu 03-Oct-24 00:56:07

Did they say why ?

Doodledog Thu 03-Oct-24 06:59:25

Do you understand what an NDA is? 😀

The whole point is that the people concerned (or their representatives) are forbidden to speak about it.

Schofield himself admitted paying a large sum to the young man ‘for therapy’.

If you take the view that if victims don’t give details of what happened to them it means that they are lying, the rich can do whatever they like so long as nobody witnesses it. Circumstantial evidence (eg the boy being at tv award shows, the meteoric rise of his career, the showreel produced by PS, the statements by the likes of Eamonn Holmes etc) counts for nothing so long as the perpetrator can pay. Justice?

Anniebach Thu 03-Oct-24 07:01:56

Yes, I do know what an NDA is

Doodledog Thu 03-Oct-24 07:06:04

So why do you keep asking if the boy or his solicitor have disclosed what is in a non-disclosure agreement?

Anniebach Thu 03-Oct-24 07:10:15

Because I choose to

Doodledog Thu 03-Oct-24 07:10:42

Ok😃

Arguing for the sake of arguing - it's a common theme on GN, especially by certain posters.

DillytheGardener Thu 03-Oct-24 07:39:21

Odious man. I certainly won’t be watching it.

Allsorts Thu 03-Oct-24 07:54:22

Never a fan of him but i do think this trial by media unfair. No one but the people involved know the facts and its awful for his family.. It’s the way Cliff Richards was hounded years ago, it broke him. What about innocent unless proved guilty. I didn't watch it, just a bit self pitying when i watched the start so I didn't bother. There's plenty of other things PS could be doing other than tv. He could start by doing voluntary work, he must have enough cash, he's not going to get his old life back.

Thanks for this. Breach of trust due to lies is never acceptable in a workplace (or in many personal relationships)

Allsorts, I don’t agree that this situation is nothing like the one involving Cliff Richard’s

Anniebach Thu 03-Oct-24 08:39:51

What lies did he tell ?

MissInterpreted Thu 03-Oct-24 08:41:56

Anniebach

What lies did he tell ?

He admitted lying to his colleagues, agents, employers, friends, the media and the public about his relationship with the young man.

Anniebach Thu 03-Oct-24 08:44:21

Thanks, understandable though
