Your favourite tv shows from your youth that youth of today wouldn't know

Not a children’s programme but I loved Frank Muir and Denis Norden in Call my Bluff in my teens.

The Magic Roundabout is still around I think; that used to be the end of our day and time to get ready for bed.

As a young child: The Woodentops Popeye

Later: Ask the Family

Teenage years: The Frost Report

We didn’t have a TV for many years but I used to go to a friend’s house on Wednesday evening to watch what I think was Play for Today.
I think it was broadcast live, no recordings then.
This would have been around 1950.
I then ,about the same time, would go to another friend to watch the Quatermass Experience, or Experiment.
It was terrifying and I would run home, about 10 minutes away as if the Devil himself was after me.
I know these weren’t favourite programmes, just programmes I remember to this day.

The Champions about three secret agents with special powers.

And not forgetting The Avengers with Diana Rigg.

Top cat- I believe it was based on another American show but I can't remember the name. It might have been the Phil Silver's show?

Quatermass, UsedtobeBlonde - I had to make sure Dad was watching it with me because it was so scary.
Today's children would just laugh.

And Ben Murphy, had a major crush on him.
So sad about Pete, he took his own life and they replaced him in the series but I can never remember who with, can only every remember the gorgeous Pete Duel.

Thanks for jogging my feeble memory! I loved all these, especially the first and last two.

I can still remember the theme tune to Z cars. Also liked Dixon of Dock Green. I think Ironside was a little while later but loved that as well.
