I am re-watching Northern Exposure on Prime.
This was a brilliant show that I never watched entirely in full - family, job, life just got in the way. Now I have the time to relish it and get the hots for Rob Morrow all over again to prove life in the old girl yet.

Crackerjack
Ivanhoe
The Young Ones

Dixon of Dock Green, and William Tell

I doubt many would have heard of In Sickness And In Health and due to its politically incotrect content, will never be seen again.

The Wednesday Play which evolved into Play For Today. Nearly always controversial. Great stuff!

And finally (giving others a chance to post!) my most handsome, kind cowboy from the 1965 series. Swoon! I did, even at junior school.

Clint Walker as Cheyenne Bodie. A roaming cowboy doing good deeds along the way (natch).

I could sing you the song … if you insist …

“Cheyenne, Cheyenne, where will you be roaming tonight …”

Love love loved him 🥰

I used to go to my grandparents (as we didn’t have a TV ) at the weekend to watch Bonanza, Wrestling, Dixon of Dock Green , Lone Ranger, Little house on the Prairie , What’s my line and The London Pallidium
That would have been about 1961

So many wonderful shows recalled on this Thread.
Like others my Dad got our first tv for the coronation, Whole street came into watch it. Tiny 12 inch screen. Later on it had a magnifying glass on it which increased its size and then a little box at the side , so we could also watch the new ITV.

Wagon Train I really loved
Blakes 7
Muffin the Mule (very early on)
Randall & Hopkirk deceased
Bonanza
Robin Hood
SUre there were many more
When I had my own family, Playschool and Magic Roundabout

Cabowich Fri 26-Sept-25 16:21:44

I used to love Catweazle.

Dylis Fri 26-Sept-25 16:28:02

Any programme with horses.
I loved Follyfoot and Whitehorses.
Also cartoons and Magpie. I preferred it to Blue Peter which seemed a bit stuffy and old fashioned.
Loving this thread!

Crackerjack! I remember Peter Glaze in a sketch where he thought he'd won the Pools, saying "Take this key to the builder and ask him to put a house on it". That's still my idea of being really really rich!,

nanna8 Sat 27-Sept-25 13:31:47

Six Five Special
Skippy the Bush Kangaroo
Eamonn Andrews - didn’t really like him but I still remember him - This is your Life.

My mother used to love Lunch Box with Noele Gordon and Jerry Allen and The TV Trio.

Do not Adjust Your Set....wow that brings back memories. I remember thinking how witty the title was.

Imagine describing " adjusting a set" to somebody now!

The Virginian.
Colditz

Watching the clock on the fireplace preying that the episode wouldn't end.

Loved many of these. Also, Gilligan's Isle, Patty Duke show, (meet Patty who's lived most everywhere) Follyfoot, Ready Steady Go (I wanted Cathy McGowan hair and clothes). So many programmes- and we only had 3 channels!

KatyKookaburra Sat 27-Sept-25 16:10:07

Robinson Crusoe!! Loved the accompanying music.
Randall and Hopkirk
The Waltons and
UFO

StripeyGran Sat 27-Sept-25 17:27:15

That music was divine. Infact a lot of theme tunes were.

Extratime Sat 27-Sept-25 18:46:22

I loved Opportunity Knocks with Hughie Green and Take your Pick with Michael Miles. I thought at the time that they both seemed rather smarmy, but I enjoyed their shows.

Emergency Ward Ten ( both my parents had medical backgrounds and thought the programme ridiculous) and Crossroads ( I ended up working in the Hospitality industry) were also favourites of mine.

My parents refused to get ITV for many years so I used to watch it at a friend’s house!
