I gave it a go but when she put the big bag of money on the table and said she'd insisted on cash I just turned over- there's funny, and there's just plain silly...
I’ll finish watching it but think it’s awful. Black comedy has to be a bit subtle; too many ‘jokes’ about wee and poo for my liking. I stuck with it because my daughter found it funny and we usually like the same programmes. Going to watch series two of Daddy Issues when I’ve finished this one.
For me, neither funny or subtle. I think Dawn French, on her own, is just too much. Too much 'gurning', doing that letterbox thing with her mouth, all just too obvious ... and a poor script. I wanted so much to like it; very disappointed.
Like others, I watched the first episode and thought it was dreadful. It wasn't funny. I find Dawn French quite irritating. I always thought French and Saunders was self-indulgent, unfunny tripe, and completely over-hyped. Mark Heap's talents are wasted in this. Lots of friends have remarked they thought it was disappointing too.
It reminded me of the things I didn’t like about Little Britain, weeing and vomiting isn’t funny, just creepy. I was finishing off the series tonight and somebody started projectile vomiting in it just as I was having a cup of tea and some toast. I wasn’t amused.
