As already suggested I'd go for navy tights - sorry but I don't think orange tights would look good on anyone. Just saying........shock

Baggs is elegant and slim and she will look amazing in her outfit, you will rock it.

Lovely cloth baggs but I remember when one of my colleagues wore orange tights to work and some unkind people called her 'chicken legs'.

Theoddbird Sun 04-Jun-17 09:22:41

Sorry, not enough orange in the dress. Also different light will change the colours. Only in daylight (outside) will you see if the match is true. Blue would look good as would pink smile

I would wear nude tights with that and nude shoes ,I live in dresses probably have around 20 knee length and 10 or 12 maxi and that only because I gave away a big bag of them recently.Nothing easier then a dress, one choice in the morning and either black or nude tights and shoes or boots.I NEVER go bare legged and thats a throw back to when I was very young my late mother thought it was very common to go out without tights or stockings ...or a hat,bag and gloves ....lol,though she did move with the times a bit and gave up the hats when she was around 45

Wear whatever you want to! The world really is full of woe and sadness right now so some beautiful bright colours on someone of any age is wonderful ?

Jalima1108 Sun 04-Jun-17 10:35:17

It's not easy to put on tights paddyann grin

I would wear dresses/skirts more often but I don't like tights and have to wear flat shoes. Yesterday I saw a woman in a dress and white trainers and it looked quite trendy - but she was young and about 5'10"

My rule of thumb is the full length mirror.
If I like what I see I wear it but sometimes I can see I need to make a few adjustments.
I don't believe you are ever too old to wear anything if you like yourself in it.

I love it, I think it is a perfect match and expect you will look wonderful. Enjoy the birthday and please let us have some photos afterwards. You are so lucky to still have your Mum, that definitely needs celebrating with bright colours. Happy Birthday to your Mum.x

Absolutely! I always try to wear something wacky to family dos - gives everybody something to talk about! And if they're talking about me they're leaving everybody else alone! You sound as if you could carry it off with confidence, so just do it!

MissAdventure Sun 04-Jun-17 12:19:48

Well, buy a pair and test them out. I think its great to see lovely bright colours. Life is too short for beige.

quizqueen Sun 04-Jun-17 12:32:11

I think orange tights would look awful, personally, with any outfit and you would look ridiculous. I don't believe the people advocating otherwise on here would actually wear them! I would go for one of the darker colours in the pattern to complement it more subtly. If you need to come on here to ask for advice then you must already know in your heart that it's a no.

DanniRae Sun 04-Jun-17 12:50:54

quizqueen - ouch!

NannyJennyto3 Sun 04-Jun-17 13:00:50

Years ago when coloured tights were all in vogue, I wore some yellowy mustard tights. My daughter and husband fell about laughing - said they looked like chicken's legs! In retrospect, not a good look!

MissAdventure Sun 04-Jun-17 13:02:05

Or maybe someone asks on here so that they can get the "push" they need to have confidence in their taste.

Shinyredcar Sun 04-Jun-17 13:08:09

Hmm. I think this falls into the category of fun to think of and especially if fulfilling the role of parent in trying to embarrass the children. Would your mother smile and think it was great? Or might she think you hadn't tried very hard for her party?

(My personal view of red/orange tights in any circumstance is that they remind me of turkeys. Nothing wrong with turkeys, they just would not be on my list of fashion role models... )

OP has certainly divided Gransnet!

knspol Sun 04-Jun-17 13:17:51

I think it depends on whether you have the legs for it.

Sheilasue Sun 04-Jun-17 13:49:05

Try them with the dress and look in the mirror.
It's up to you, if not sure why are you asking ?

krysiam Sun 04-Jun-17 13:51:33

So what legs are recommended for orange tights?..

MissAdventure Sun 04-Jun-17 14:01:29

Legs that are attached to someone who wants to wear orange tights?

Jalima1108 Sun 04-Jun-17 14:25:28

MissAdventure
grin

Jalima1108 Sun 04-Jun-17 14:27:31

I would pick out the navy or possibly the red for tights

Jalima1108 Sun 04-Jun-17 14:27:47

ps what colour shoes if you wear the orange tights?

Grannycupcake Sun 04-Jun-17 14:39:56

Depends how old you are. When I turned 70 I thought 'I can wear anything I like now'
. Even socks with sandals.
