I'm looking for inspiration and do like to know what the nation is eating! smile

I've got two, almost wrinkly, red bell peppers - I might stuff them, but then again.....

I've had IKEA meatballs in one of their stores decades ago - very nice they were too. I like the look of that recipe Merlot.

My version of fish pie, small salmon, haddock and smoked haddock filets cut up, plus I've chucked in some broccoli florets, made a cheese and chive sauce and topped it off with thin mandoline sliced potatoes, rather than mash...……. maybe a glass of white wine to wash it down.

I have a lamb dish in the crockpot - done in a red wine with mint sauce and red currant jelly, tomatoes and the usual onions and mushrooms. Not decided yet whether to go for rice or jacket potato

Last night’s chilli with cauliflower rice and frozen cherries and yoghurt for pud.

Spicy, fruity lamb. A Moroccan dish. With rice and vegetables
Might make an apple crumble and custard or might not.

Beef Rogan Josh, all made from scratch, with rice. Naan breads, poppadoms, mango chutney

Chicken and green bean curry made and frozen some weeks ago. I’m getting slightly nervous as I recall I threw a lot of spices at it so it will either be delicious or inedible. Will also make a big bowl of salad as I’ve got lots of salad stuff starting to get past it’s best and I refuse to let it go to waste.

merlotgran I've bought the Ikea packet mushroom sauce to have with their meatballs but now I make my own using porcini mushrooms and fresh, it's lush!

lilypollen Wed 22-Apr-20 18:24:58

Tonight is a barbecue. I had 2 ribeyes in the fridge. They need to be used as I have just received a mail order of frozen Scottish beef products.

Frittata to use up our glut of eggs, with salad and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
Al fresco, I hope.

Going to make a pie on a deep plate. Pastry bottom filled with
browned mince, chopped carrot, mushrooms, onions, small portion of gravy to moisten, pastry lid on top.

Roast beef dinner yesterday, corned beef and potatoe pie today and the rest of the beef in a stew tomorow.

jaylucy Thu 23-Apr-20 10:20:50

Tonight, in honour of St Georges Day, it will be cottage pie. I always have minced beef in the freezer and would normally have done something like pasta bolognese with it.
DS that lives with me is gluten intolerant , so it is a lot easier to use the pasta than actual spaghetti!
Only thing is that my pasta sause is never the same twice - due to the fact that I don't stick to a recipe and just bung in whatever I fancy with the mince !

Brunette10 Thu 23-Apr-20 10:21:07

We are having savoury mince tonight with mashed potatoes both taken out the freezer, homemade last week with vegetables. We don't have a sweet for normal but DH has a yoghurt to finish off his meal. Nice and tasty.

Witzend Thu 23-Apr-20 10:26:12

There was a cauliflower in our veg box delivery yesterday - none in local shops recently for some reason - so tonight it’ll be a cauliflower/macaroni cheese combo - breadcrumbs and extra grated mature Cheddar on top and browned under the grill. Always a favourite in this house.

Witzend Thu 23-Apr-20 10:29:47

Should add, having a lot of milk in the fridge, yesterday I made a 2 pint chocolate pudding (aka chocolate blancmange) and I’m afraid to say that the two resident ?? in this house ate most of it last night?

JenniferEccles Thu 23-Apr-20 13:16:34

We are having bangers and cheesy mash tonight probably with peas, carrots, broccoli and onion gravy.
The
My husband will be delighted ?!

GagaJo Thu 23-Apr-20 13:18:44

Mushroom pasta bake with hidden cauliflower.

maddy47 Thu 23-Apr-20 13:46:06

Baked whole trout, jacket potatoes and creamed leeks.

merlotgran Thu 23-Apr-20 14:01:37

We'll be having beetroot and goats cheese frittata with potato salad and coleslaw.

Charleygirl5 Thu 23-Apr-20 14:18:36

My Morrison's delivery came yesterday and the turkey mince has a short use-by date so tonight and tomorrow it will be spag bol. I throw in a splash or two of red wine and it is really yummy.

lemongrove Thu 23-Apr-20 14:26:19

I made a spag bol for our meal at lunchtime, there was a lot left over [meat] so we will have it again tomorrow with oven baked potatoes and chopped carrots.
