Losing your looks

I’m 59 years old and I’m horrified when I look in the mirror! I have deep circles and bags under my eyes and my eyelids are sitting on top of my lashes. The sides of my face are sliding down. I can’t find a haircut that I can style. I look best in a shoulder length bob but my hair is bushy and it makes makes my face look fatter if I use a flat iron. Then there is the male pattern hair growth on my face - I’m actually shaving!! I was so pretty in my younger days and that makes it all the harder.

Grandafrench grin

Actually, I should never grin because my eyes seem to disappear these days when I grin

Oops, there I go again! smile

I just don’t look in the mirror with my glasses on.
At least, not if I can help it.

Same strategy is very helpful for ignoring dust. ?

I am sure this doesn’t apply to OP but one of the saddest sights is that of a woman (or man) who seriously rated their looks when younger - or depended on them and cannot accept that time has moved on and they have nothing left to commmend them.
Plumped up lips, “work done”, faces stretched and lifted till they nearly meet round the back, boobs enhanced, skirts too short, makeup way too heavy etc etc We can all think of examples - Trinny Woodall is one who seems to be popping up advertising her cosmetics range, Joan Collins, Dolly Parton, Paul McCartney’s dyed barnet, Cliff Richard with skin like a baby’s bum and the chief ultimate champion of age denial - the Donald!
Compare and contrast with faces showing true character and life experience.
No cream of product or “tweakment” stops ageing let alone the Seven signs - aching joints, incontinence, forgetfulness and four others which I forget.
If looks are all we have to depend on what a waste of a life

I was never a beauty but always seemed to be attractive to men. I will never forget when a happily married slightly older work colleague said to me 'Please stop looking at me like that with those eyes or I might do something we would both regret.' It was always thus although I was never flirtatious nor mentally or physically unfaithful to DH from the moment I met him - the love of my life since I was 17. Yet still, to this day I seem to remain attractive and regularly get 'chatted up' wink

I've noticed more pronounced lines/bags under my eyes, and gobble gobble turkey neck! Mind you I did manage to lose about 10 lb early in the year, which i needed to do. My skin just hasn't shrunk back yet!

Never a beauty, but not that bad either, I find keeping relatively well groomed and a bit of makeup work wonders. Posture as well - chin up and shoulders back shows confidence!

Lookernomore - please treat yourself to a home facial or nice face cream, and maybe a new lipstick. And change your handle to I'mstillalooker!

The mirror in my bathroom tells me I look pretty good for my age. Therefore I take no chances wit any other. smile

I put shorts on this morning. And I have old ladies knees. Bit fat and wrinkled. That must have happened over the winter !!!!
DH said my legs are not bad, so I will be content with that . Bless him

Too true Maw - I’m thinking Britt Ekland now in ‘The Real Marigold Hotel’.
?

Sometimes men are the worst. Some seem stuck in a time warp! They seem to choose their favourite time/look and not move on. I’ve seen 70y old men in double-denim (jacket and jeans ?) so ageing - especially if the jeans have the 70’s ironed-in front crease!). Often they still have longish hair, coiffed and blow waved. Cringeworthy.
