Any new joiners? smile If you've recently signed up to Gransnet or have been around a while but haven't got round to posting anything yet, please pop over to Welcome to Gransnet to introduce yourself and have a virtual cup of cafe or wine.

Welcome sharon you may feel more at home in soop's kitchen but be aware we "know" each other fairly well but you will be welcomed.

Hi all. I'm new to Gransnet. I just came across it when I was doing a Google search and it seemed too good to not join. You see so many sites for young people, new mums, older mums and very rarely in fact as far as I'm concerned, none for us older ladies. So hello everybody, I'm pleased to be here.

Charleygirl Tue 18-Sep-18 16:36:41

Welcome Hazeld you will soon get to "know2 us old fogies!

I have been reading the daily posts for a while and I must admit at first they mostly seemed to be about horrible daughters in law (rarely sons in law) or annoying husbands so it seemed a bit petty but I stuck with it and so glad I did because I’ve come to realise that there are all sorts of grans and there are bound to be some that are really interesting. I always look for Bluebelle’s posts as she sounds great and I’m sure we could be best friends forever!!!

I too am fairly new to Gransnet and so far I’m enjoying the chat. It’s always lifts me in the morning when I know the ‘Good Morning’ lot are starting their day with other folk in mind even though we are strangers. Looking forward to many more chats.

Hello. I am also a long time lurker. I have posted occasionally in the past using another name until I managed to lock myself out. I enjoy reading most threads from style and beauty to politics. Being recently retired I miss the daily interaction, opinions and chats with other women of all ages so I find gransnet fills the gap nicely.

Hi All at Gransnet, Only found website when I googled "Taking HRT over 60". Your info was brill and made me think I'm not alone. I'm 62yrs old and I've just started Evorel Conti Patches. Just wondered if anybody can give advice on any good effects cos reading the info I'm doomed. Lol xxx

I must be a bit dim - where is Soop's Kitchen? I keep seeing it mentioned but can't see it in the list. Can someone post a link to it or direct me to it? I hope I would get on really well with other fluffy, woollyminded, boring, friendly, caring and compassionate people. I have been on here a while but only seem to have time to look at the daily newsletter topics. Thank you everyone!

Marydoll Thu 20-Sep-18 19:14:23

gillyg, here are two ways to access Soop's Kitchen:
Go into the Last day tab at the top of the page, scroll down and you will see it. It's now called, "Soop's Super Supportive Kitchen".
or

Welcome to everyone. I find GN has such a wide variety of topics. Not sure what Hillwalker was looking for. And if a topic isnt there start a new thread!
The only thing is I can spend too long on here when I should be sorting out my clothes or something else.

gillyg Fri 21-Sep-18 13:32:33

Thank you Marydoll, I will try that!

Welcome to all new Gransnetters, don’t be shy, jump into threads and tell us your opinions, that’s what the forum is for really.smile You will soon feel at home.

Jalima1108 Fri 21-Sep-18 15:01:15

I am looking for a women only
That's quite interesting hillwalker, as on one of the threads there was a call for more men to join to get a balance, as this is for grandparents, not just grans, and in fact for anyone, not just grandparents.

You could start a thread about walking, rural pursuits etc as I'm sure there may be others who are interested.
I've never been to Buckinghamshire smile and I'm not a bit fashionable.

Jalima1108 Fri 21-Sep-18 15:09:00

Riverwalk and others grin]
Yes, I'm fluffy-headed, but that's my hair because I went out in the rain.

Us West Country yokels are used to a bit of rain and mud.
I think we should have a [cider] emoticon and perhaps a [beer] one to encourage more men on to here.
'Tis not just them posh Buckinghamshire types as likes a drop you know.

Jalima1108 Fri 21-Sep-18 15:13:27

I am Australian so some things are not relevant to me - eg some of the political posts

tassiegran welcome! Are you in Tasmania? We went there last year, lovely place.
There have been some threads started by people who have been going over to Australia for extended holidays.

And as for politics - I hear you have another PM!

folly22 Wed 26-Sep-18 20:15:47

Hi. I’ve been lurking for some time and now really look forward to reading Gransnet. You seem such a lovely supportive friendly group so I might try joining in. As a carer for my DH I found the recent thread on carers just brilliant.

Marydoll Wed 26-Sep-18 20:58:01

Welcome Folly22. You will find lots of support here, try and pluck up courage to post.

Philippa60 Thu 27-Sep-18 11:14:21

Hello, thanks for the suggestion of introducing myself! Believe it or not I actually googled "grumpy husband" because I am at my wits end with mine!
Little did I know I'd find this forum just waiting for me.
So to introduce myself: I am just 60, DH is 66 (and grumpy!), we have 2 married kids and 3 grandkids, I am an independent consultant and DH runs the business side of things (which is just one of the many sources of tension).
Life could be SO good but somehow we are at each other's throats the whole time....
Looking forward to connecting with others on GN.
Thanks for listening

Was struggling with an issue ref my cleaning women, was thinking of joining Mumsnet but saw this and although aim not a Gran the age profile and issues seem more relevant to me, was delighted with the comments provided, and it helped me speak constructively to her.

Elegran Thu 27-Sep-18 16:07:32

Dear HillwalkerHave you read ALL the posts on all the threads on all the topics listed on this comprehensive "Topics"page? www.gransnet.com/forums I am sure you will find something to suit your exacting requirements.

Re-joined today after a long break, thought it best to start afresh.
Looking to join in discussions as and when, maybe make new friends, who knows? Just going with the flow, that's me.
