Anniebach Thu 25-Feb-21 21:06:20

nanny sorry you are feeling very sad, you have been under stress which quite possibly has pulled you down.

May I suggest, if you want to, telephone the
Blue Cross Pet Bereavement And Pet Loss Support , they will
understand your sadness , and we will always listen x

scardycat I thought I would just go out and prune the roses but when I started I discovered there was so much more that needed doing so only managed about a quarter of the garden. When I lifted the rubbish and walked with it I realised how unfit I am as a result of the last year. Bit scary.

Doodle I hope the better weather is around when the antihistamines start to work so you can go out and enjoy it.

Assuming some of you are also Baby Boomers you might be interested in www.boomradiouk.com/ I discovered this yesterday and was bopping around while doing the ironing! I quite lifted my spirits. Who would have thought a radio station devoted to us?

Doodle Fri 26-Feb-21 22:06:06

Nanny how are you today, are you feeling any better? How is Binks behaving these days.
Nonnie I am so unfit too. I used to walk a lot before lockdown started. Must get back to it,
A good bop while you’re doing the ironing cheers you up. Glad you found some music to lift your spirits.
My eyes are still bad and quite itchy so I’m off to bed now. I cover them with Vaseline and lay with my eyes shut. It helps after a while,
Hope you are ok Annie and all.
Sleep well x

BlueSky Sat 27-Feb-21 10:24:56

Morning all x Sunny day at last and it suddenly feels like spring! I was cheerful until I checked fb and read two sad news, one friend lost her partner and another her young adult son, both suddenly. I don’t know these people personally but still feel so sad, my DH said I shouldn’t be dwelling on it but you can’t help but empathise. I’m upset even if somebody’s dog dies, let alone. Anyway usual walk later till we’ll be allowed to go farther afield. Have a nice day x cafe

Anniebach Sat 27-Feb-21 11:07:14

Hi all x

How is everyone ?

Bluesky you empathise, would you want to be a person who
just thinks ‘deal with it ‘ ? When i hear something distressing I
say a little prayer for those involved. If not a prayer then a thought such as ‘I wish them - - - - what ever you wish them .
Enjoy your walk x

Nonnie Sat 27-Feb-21 11:26:42

nanny are you feeling any better today?

BlueSky that would have upset me too.

We had a lovely walk yesterday, round suburban streets, lots of post war houses with beautiful front gardens, some newly planted. Only passed a few people but they all smiled and socially distanced. Doing to much online buying, none for me though. Parcel just arrived and even better than I expected. Now out to have another gardening session.

If you have sun, hope you all find a way to enjoy it.

Doodle Sat 27-Feb-21 12:00:19

Bluesky I’m the same. I read something in the paper or on the news about people I don’t know and I feel sad for them. Like Annie I find praying for them helps.
Hope you enjoy your walk in the sunshine.
Annie I wish you could be out in some sunshine too. I’m sure it would do you good. Hope it’s not raining today.
Nonnie glad you had a delivery which pleased you. Good luck with the gardening.
Nanny hope you are feeling brighter today.
My eyes are still causing me problems. Cant read much or concentrate on anything. It will improve soon unlike many who suffer sight problems all the time. Must be so frustrating.
Have a good day all x

Anniebach Sat 27-Feb-21 12:35:08

Doodle sorry you have problems with your eyes,

Right friends, I reached breaking point Thursday ,in 3 weeks 28 people coming and going , and I was sleeping about 3 - 4 hours a night, and a hold up for wheelchair, they are cutting back on visits, all those people with different suggestions !

polomint Sat 27-Feb-21 12:58:18

That's a lot of people coming into your house annie. I wouldn't really like that but if its essential to your well being, needs must. Once they have a plan for you and everyone knows what that is, it should settle down
Yes spring is in the air and it does help to feel just a little bit better, even if its only sunshine coming in the windows

Scaredycat Sat 27-Feb-21 15:57:45

Good afternoon all.

Nonnie- I too feel I have lost fitness this last year. Too much sitting about I think- thank goodness for the daily walking . Today it was so lovely and Spring was definitely in the air.
Perhaps I should Bop and iron too like you.
Glad your parcel was a good one- I have actually enjoyed the online shopping and love when a parcel arrives even though we leave it for a couple of days before opening!!
Doodle- I,m so sorry your eyes are still feeling awful. You must miss reading - can you watch telly?
Bluesky- yes it is beautiful today and I hope your walk lifts your spirits after reading such sad news.
Annie- what a,pity that the visits have been so upsetting for you. Perhaps all the people involved will liaise and agree on a plan that would really help you. It would be a shame to abandon the visits as it took you so long to get any help. You so need to be able to sleep in your bed again too.
Polomint- sunshine always cheers me up - just ignoring the dust it is illuminating!!
Love to allxx

Anniebach Sat 27-Feb-21 17:08:31

The problem is there is a plan , example ‘you need a wheelchair’ the occupational therapist.

Thursday ‘you don’t need a wheelchair, you need to try harder ‘member of enablers team,

Friday ‘you are doing so well and when the occupational therapist is back from holiday she will advise on a wheelchair’
head of the enablement team.

Who wouldn’t be confused , tired and fed up ? x

rafichagran Sat 27-Feb-21 19:03:28

Nanny I hope you are feeling better today.
Annie I am not surprised you are fed up you are getting no continuity.
Hope everyone on BDG are keeping well.

Anniebach Sat 27-Feb-21 19:31:03

rafichagran thank you, how are you?

Nonnie Sun 28-Feb-21 09:36:23

Doodle I can only imagine how hard it must be to have the sight issues, it sounds horrible.

Annie all such a mixed blessing for you, hope the balance gets better with fewer visits. Very confusing, suggest you listen to them all politely and then do what you think is right!

Scardycat yes, we normally leave 3 days before opening post but if I really want to open anything I sanitise it first.

We don't manage a walk every day but we have started gardening on some days. DH is doing the front and I'm doing the back. Works well for us as we have very different ideas on how it should be done grin

We have a lovely postman. Yesterday he rang the bell to show us a letter we had sent with no address on the front, label had fallen off. He said we should write it on and he would call back and collect it.

Our walk a couple of days ago had some good moments too. As we walked towards the lake some workmen were doing something on the verge and I noticed their 'men at work' sign had fallen over and it would be easy for someone to trip so I picked it up and set it straight. The looked up and gave me big smiles then stopped as we walked past and said no one had ever done that before and how lovely we were. I mention this because it was such a simple thing to do and made their day. On the way back they stopped and smiled at us again. I will get a reputation as the mad woman who speaks to everyone on her walks grin. No, I don't stop and chat unless they want to but any friendly comment seems to go down well.

DH is doing the full Sunday roast today! Think it may be followed by his famous rice pudding.

Doodle Sun 28-Feb-21 20:33:16

Evening all. My eyes are still sore but not as bad as they were. We stayed home over the weekend to keep out of the pollen but will try going out again tomorrow.
Annie 28 people. No wonder you’re worn out. For someone used to being on their own, you must be worn out with it all.
Just wish they would get you that wheelchair. Hope you are ok.
Polomint I keep wanting to eat you ?. The weather is better now isn’t it. Nice to get out.
scaredycat I think bopping to the ironing could well be something I should do too. I have to get more fit and my knees certainly need some work.
I can still watch the TV and iPad. I have an audio book to listen too at night. Stephen Fry Mythos. I like listening to his voice. Sends me to sleep ?
Did you go for a walk today? It looked lovely out.
rafichagran hope you are doing ok?
Nonnie gardening is good too. Anything out in the fresh air is helpful. Good idea for you and your DH to have a patch to work on.
Not a mad woman at all. Like you I smile at everyone I meet and make odd comments to anyone who looks like they might like a chat. It’s surprising sometimes what lovely conversations you can have with strangers.
Hope everyone has a good night x

polomint Sun 28-Feb-21 22:46:46

I spent a few hours in garden yesterday. Basically just cutting some branches and tidying up but I was so sore last night . I could hardly walk and also got a blister on my toe. Maybe you think it cheered me up but it did the opposite. Made me realise I'm not fit for gardening and since my husband has a broken hip and heart problems, neither is he. Now getting to the stage of needing help.
Thank you doodle for wanting to eat me, but I'm sure you would prefer a soft centred chocolate to a hard mint haha

BlueSky Sun 28-Feb-21 22:57:23

Polomint same here, DH is no longer fit due to chronic back problems and I’m no gardener. So we had artificial lawn in the front garden and pebbles at the back, as much as we like real grass. Needs must!

nanny2507 Sun 28-Feb-21 23:03:24

hello all. thank you all for thinking of me. I am quite emotional right now, like annie said there is just so much going on. I even shouted at DH today when for what felt like the thousandth time he called me to tell me something irrelevant. I did apologise but I am just trying to do so much. I ended up shutting myself in the bedroom for 3 hours . Nurse is coming daily right now for DH foot but hopefully not much longer until the wound reaches skin level, at the moment its like a huge crater in the foot but when it builds up high enough he wont need a tissue viability nurse just a standard district nurse. I had a lovely video call with sassy pants today (GD) I love that little creature so much

Nonnie Mon 01-Mar-21 10:40:45

Doodle so good to read your eyes are improving.

So now I picture you not only walking along smiling at everyone but bopping as you go. I will definitely be looking out for someone like you grin

Polomint yes, it hurts when we use muscles we haven't used for a long time but that is positive. There comes a time when we have to decide whether to 'use it or lose it'. In my case those muscle aches make me want to use them but we all have different needs.

nanny you have tried hard to be upbeat but have gone down a bit today. Just be kind to yourself. You are not alone DH says random things expecting me to understand as if we had had a previous conversation. This morning it was something to do with men's pony tails! I think he believes I can read his mind grin.

Venturing out into the damp cold weather now.

Scaredycat Mon 01-Mar-21 16:31:38

Afternoon all.

Nonnie- Hope your roast went down well yesterday. How nice to have a ‘Chef’ husband. My DH has finally started to cook since lockdown and is actually enjoying it and I certainlyenjoy the odd night off!!! Hope you enjoyed your walk.
Doodle - glad your eyes are improving - good idea to give the pollen a miss for a couple of days. Glad too you can watch TV and use i pad. I dread to think how much time I spend on both!!! Hope you,ve been out today - it was sunny but very chilly walking this afternoon.
Polomint - No wonder you were sore after hours in the garden. I wish I could do longer than I do but push myself as much as I dare. I expect your husband misses being able to do as much as he used to. Getting old isn’t for sissies is it?. We always used to take Polomints on our walks for the horses as they love them so but no horses on our walks now.
Bluesky - I,love the sound of your garden I bet it looks really pretty and saves you a lot of hard work.
Nanny- Don’t beat yourself up for shouting today. Being cooped up as we are at the moment it’s no wonder we explode now and again.Glad you had Sassy Pants to cheer you up on FT she sounds a bit of a character. We had a doorstep visit from our Grandaughter and her 2 on Friday to bring DH birthday pressy. It left us feeling happy and sad. Happy to see their little faces and they made us laugh but sad at what we
have all lost this past year.
Annie- Happy St David’s Day. Saw the Go Compare man on GMB singing Land of my Fathers it was lovely.XX
Love to all in BDG

Anniebach Mon 01-Mar-21 17:41:28

Hi all x

nonnie hope you didn’t get too cold and damp on your walk.

Scaredycat thank you ???????

Today I ordered my electric wheelchair, I chose one, it met with the approval of the occupational therapist and when it’s
delivered the physio staff will accompany me when I take it
outside

polomint Mon 01-Mar-21 18:43:36

That's good news that you have ordered your wheelchair annie

rafichagran Mon 01-Mar-21 18:59:13

Wonderful news Annie

Doodle Mon 01-Mar-21 19:44:52

Fantastic news Annie . So pleased for you. I hope you manage to get out in the garden and enjoy the summer, do you know when it’s coming?
polomint I love polos ? we all have to accept when we can’t manage certain chores anymore. We moved to our flat because DH was unable to cope with the trees around our home and between us we couldn’t tackle the garden and decorating. Sorry you feel so sore but I do think help is needed.
Bluesky that artificial grass can be quite good. Doesn’t feel the same under your feet but of the bliss of not having to mow it ?
Nanny you sound stressed. Time to slow down a bit. Prioritise. Your DH is more important than some other things. It is so easy to have misunderstandings and disagreements. Think of your lovely family. They are what is important. Everything else can wait. Hope you rest tonight and take a deep breath before you react. Think calm ?
Nonnie that’s me a boppy smiley person. ? I have started exercising recently. I have sore muscles where I didn’t know I had muscles ?
scaredycat yes we did go out today. It was lovely and sunny but still very cold. Had a nice walk and chat with someone we know vaguely who walks his dog past our home most days.
Lovely to have a visit from your granddaughter and her children. I can understand why you felt it was happy and sad. We miss so much.
Happy St David’s Day all . x
