Tarot reading has worried me

I have used this tarot reader several times over a few years and he has generally been accurate- specific dates and predictions have been correct eg redundancy,

This time he has predicted I may lose my job this May, a bullying manager is involved and a blonde woman helps him. This is because he got the fallen tower, 10 of swords and five of pentacles cards. The manager will say I'm underperforming etc

I have googled these cards and they aren't good- meant to be the worst in the whole lot.

I do have a bullying manager, the HR person is a blonde woman and I'm still on probation. It is also a step up and whilst I'm capable, I need training and he isn't supportive.

I don't want to lose a job after 6 months when it is a step up.

How can I stop worrying?

You can turn this around love! Believe in yourself, interact in work more, try a little harder and even approach someone for help if you are struggling. Don't have anymore readings if it is going to worry you like this. If your manager is not helpful approach someone in a different department. Failing that there is always the grievance procedure if you think you are mistreated. Good luck

Ineedamum I use Tarot cards but they are not the be all and end all, as we often change things we do in life, please don't pay any attention to this reading as you could go to another reader and get a completely different reading! Personally I would not go back to her, as she has you worried and that is wrong on so many levels!! Sending you hugs XXX

Exactly!!

Clairvoyance and other psychic means are meant to be taken as warnings, not irreversible fate. Now you have been warned of what might happen, you can be on watch and take precautions. For example think of what might be said to trip you up and think up your best response. I wish you all the best!

Tarot cards are open to interpretation and can be read in more ways than one - give the same cards to more than one person and they will see something different.
I have been in a similar situation to you at work . You often find that the people concerned that are in a higher position than yourself , have their own hidden agenda, so whatever you do, as far as they are concerned, you won't win.
However there may be a way around them - keep a diary, keep asking about training that you need and ask for support from your colleagues. Any meetings that you have, try and record them on your phone or make notes and double check your copy of the minutes that will have been taken - I found that just by changing a few words, the manager concerned, who also typed up the minutes, completely changed what had actually been said at the meeting! Ask if there is someone else in HR that you can see and discuss the lack of training etc with. Join the union and make sure that a rep is with you at all future meetings with the manager/HR.
When all is said and done, do you really want to work at a place where you are not given the help and support that should be given ? You may well find that moving to a different department may be the best thing.

Absolutely agree with *Ginny42

If you're really worried that there's a hidden agenda, keep a diary of all communication with your manager and the HR person. What they said and how you responded. If it becomes necessary, it's best to be able to produce chapter and verse with dates, rather than a vague 'I remember once you said...'*

Doing that is imperative if you think you might be in a dodgy situation, regardless of any tarot reading! Keep a diary .... and make sure you have an excellent paper trail as per Eglantine21

Also you could try and make Stockholm Syndrome work for you. See if you can't strike up some sort of rapport with the people who might cause you trouble. Show sympathy for her cold, look up and take interest when they talk to each other in your presence and smile readily at their feeble jokes etc. Pretend you like them.

Elegran, the blonde PR woman wont help her, shes helping the manager! I wonder if theres a head office or CEO though where a complaint from all the others can be put in about the bullying boss and the HR woman? Take no notice of tarot reader, our luck is down to us! Dont go to him again!

A load of stupid nonsense
You are responsible for your actions
This influence is inhealthy
They make money out of you
A load of old bull
From bits of card with weird pictures
Superstisious nonsense
Get out more
Take a brisk walk
Hug a tree
Help others less fortunate
Volunteer in a homeless shelter
Live real life instead of going down these pointless rabbit holes
It is not making you happy
So why go and see them

Honestly - are you seriously giving this tarot reader the time of day? There is. I thing whatsoever scientific about this practice whatever your beliefs might be - you are wasting money and would be much better off spending it with a counsellor or psychotherapist who would be able to help you explore your own personality and put you in a better place in terms of your work relationships - I know people will call me judgemental but there is nothing at all in tarot reading other than people praying on the fears of others and getting paid for it and please remember that this person has lots of information about you from previous readings when you have disclosed - please see someone who is trained in psychology/counselling and your own self-esteem will have a chance of improving.

axlefoley Thu 30-Jan-20 10:32:41

Google cold reading, it will give you information on how these con people do it.

Margs Thu 30-Jan-20 10:39:21

Don't take this tosh seriously - it's used to financially exploit and/or control others.

Stop.It.Now.

seacliff Thu 30-Jan-20 10:40:24

Goldenage That is what I was going to suggest too. A reputable preferably recommended counsellor who could give you skills to increase your confidence.

NemosMum Thu 30-Jan-20 10:42:47

Tarot readers and fortune tellers are bloodsuckers preying on the credulous! Don't have anything to do with them. They can no more tell the future than anyone else as Absent's hilarious account illustrates! You sound like an anxious person who has little confidence in herself. You could ask your doctor to refer you to a therapist for some Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to help you negotiate the usual vicissitudes of life.

ladymuck Thu 30-Jan-20 10:47:51

Do you consult a Tarot reading expecting the reader to only tell you the good things?
This person has done you a favour by warning you of something which MAY happen. Stop worrying and try to do something to prevent it happening.
It does sound, though, as if you are unhappy in your workplace. Perhaps making a fresh start elsewhere would be a good decision?

BusterTank Thu 30-Jan-20 10:49:10

Just concentrate on doing your job instead of worrying about the tarot cards . What will be will be . If you give the the job one hundred percent , there nothing else you can do .

Elegran Thu 30-Jan-20 10:49:41

Nannan2 It is only the Tarot reader who implies the blonde woman is on the side of the manager - and she is HR, not PR, that is, Human Resources, which used to be called Personnel. It is her job to deal employees' problems, so she is supposed to be helping her get training and so on.

When you are feeling vulnerable and lacking confidence people like this Tarot reader have a field day; GoldenAge has put this very well about your being wiser to spend your money on having some counselling and confidence boosting - this will do so much more for you than listening to the purveyor of doom and gloom who is upsetting your life. Take heart - you can help yourself so much and will feel more confident for it, and then the work concerns will fall into perspective. A lot of good advice on here to deal with the bullly too. I had this kind of situation once working in a big office; when we were sitting in the lunch room with the bully present and straining to listen to everyone's conversations I said quite loudly to a colleague that I had always noticed people promoted beyond their capabilities usually became aggressive with others. She took it up and we had a general discussion about bullies being cowards, how it was easier to get birds out of trees by charm rather than throwing a brick at them - a lot of platitudes but we both felt it had gone home and things did improve.

Lovemybed Thu 30-Jan-20 10:51:24

As others have said rise above it, keep working as well as you have been and think about leaving Tarot etc behind you.
A prayer to St Michael would be my first choice.
Take care and don't worry.

NannyC2 Thu 30-Jan-20 10:51:38

Tarot reading is never a good idea and opens up a person to the demonic.
Jesus told his disciples to not worry about the future and to trust in God.
Using tarot cards can also attract the attention of various demons and evil spirits.
Try to have more confidence in yourself and more positive thoughts - believe in yourself.

Abuelana Thu 30-Jan-20 11:04:32

I’d set your intention to be successful in this job. Make some goals around the job. Be very specific. Build rapport with your boss and HR and take it from there...
check out rapport building skills online very easy to do

Well I'm going to buck the trend here. I have tarot cards. I read them for myself and know that if you are honest they tell you true.
The other thing I know is that I had a probation being Deputy Manager for someone who did not want me to be there at all. This manager was supposed to train me to the specifics, but did nothing but undermine me, make my life a misery and destroy my self confidence. I did not pass the probation (it was a year and I made it to 11 months). The sheer relief of not being near this horrible person was like a weight from my shoulders. My life went into a nose dive for a while - but the eventual outcome has been SO much better that it was not a disaster in the end, but a complete change of direction with a happier life altogether than I'd been striving to maintain.
Wishing you well, however things turn out needamum. flowers

Whatever you may think about tarot card reading and fortune telling this experience seems to have brought to the surface some real issues with your work. As others have said, you can now choose to take steps to deal with the situation and gain some control. Don’t be scared! Long ago I dabbled with reading tarot cards myself and it is very extraordinary how you can ‘see’ things in people that they don’t tell you. It was uncanny, I didn’t like it and I stopped doing it. It is impossible to explain unless you’ve experienced it. Yes, people are vulnerable and there are charlatans around, but also be careful of counsellors and other professionals who may be manipulative and think they have the power to ‘tell your fortune’ in a different way!

Shandy3 Thu 30-Jan-20 11:16:41

Everyone has rights not to be dismissed without good cause, no matter how long you've been working!
Word a 'nice' email (so you have a paper trail!) Asking for the training you feel you need to be able to do your job to the best if your ability. Stop giving them control over how this pans out, it's your job, your life take control back, when you do you'll find you become more confident by the day.
Take a deep breath and start today, leave it any longer and it's playing into their hands!
Good luck

Just had a very quick read and there seems to be lots of good suggestions to work with.

However, have you considered looking for a new job as well as putting into practice some of the suggestions that have been offered.

IF - if I have got the right of things you really are suffering from a bullying manager with HR 's backing.

If that is your working reality you are going to be up against changing the company culture. You won't do that.

Who wants to take on that battle as well as trying to do their job and have a life outside work.

Tarot cards or no Tarot cards if your working situation is so bad the company and it's culture is not a good fit for you.

No amount of counselling, Assertiveness Training or confidence boosting will fix the attitudes and beliefs of the a manager or HR.

So the issue is not about the Tarot cards, the reader or your belief in them.

The real issue is IS the job you have now the right job for you/ or is it the right company for you to be working at.

I understand you don't really want to change jobs but may be that is the healthiest, most self valuing thing you can do.

Wishing you the best possible outcome.
