The site is just getting ridiculous - please be more pro-active. I am at the point of giving up altogether.

NanaandGrampy Sun 30-Dec-18 09:13:48

I'm with you Kitty !!

Blinko Sun 30-Dec-18 09:14:47

It's still the holiday season, I guess. Perhaps they're all still celebrating...

Anniebach Sun 30-Dec-18 09:15:52

I want to leave here but my family are here

Lisagran Sun 30-Dec-18 09:18:48

It’s an uncomfortable place at the moment. I’ve had fairly low key comments deleted, whilst new posters have made - what seem to me - to be quite challenging, rude, provocative comments, which have not been deleted. Bored HQ / inside job?

Grannybags Sun 30-Dec-18 09:25:14

I agree kittylester and Lisagran It's such a shame that genuine posters are starting to feel there's no point in being part of GN anymore

Jane10 Sun 30-Dec-18 09:31:11

I agree with all the previous posters. What is GNHQ going to do about it?

merlotgran Sun 30-Dec-18 09:34:08

What annoys me is that back in the day we were told that the reason certain regular posters were banned was because advertisers were getting their knickers in a twist over controversial postings which made sensitive lurkers reluctant to post.

I thought it was hogwash at the time and I still do. Some members who are no longer with us would spot a malevolent newcomer in a flash and see them off with a sharp retort. We've now been reduced to having to choose our words carefully or we'll be the ones in the ejector seat.

No wonder long term posters are now thinking of leaving.

Please don't!!

kittylester Sun 30-Dec-18 09:36:53

It gets to be hard work ploughing through the trolls tchshock and No pleasure at all.

sunseeker Sun 30-Dec-18 09:42:25

I am posting less and less as GN is becoming an unpleasant place - I still visit but not as often. I have no problem with vigorous debate what I don't like are the nasty school ground comments.

ninathenana Sun 30-Dec-18 09:46:08

Oh dear, I'm worried to read that some members who's posts I always enjoy are considering leaving. There are some who's posts seem to be a deliberate attempt to goad.
GHQ please help to maintain GN the way we know and love it.

Bathsheba Sun 30-Dec-18 09:52:20

I'm with you there kitty. It is getting beyond ridiculous now, with established, long term members having their comments deleted left, right and centre, and being summarily ticked off, just for doing what GNHQ should be doing but aren't. And meanwhile the trolls schoolchildren are taking over with impunity angry

This site is no longer a pleasure to visit, it's nasty, vindictive and, quite frankly, bloody hard work.

oldbatty Sun 30-Dec-18 09:54:43

Does this site generate income ie are people being paid to run it?

NatashaGransnet (GNHQ) Sun 30-Dec-18 09:56:41

Hi all,

Thank you for your comments. We look into every report we receive and if it is found to breach our guidelines, we will delete the comment.

If you do have any concerns about users and particular posts, please either report the post or email us at [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Grannyknot Sun 30-Dec-18 09:57:47

oldbatty yes, it's a business.

MawBroon Sun 30-Dec-18 09:59:41

I have found myself taking a deep breath before, fortified by a mug of tea, I dare venture onto GN.
It used to be like meeting friends for coffee but now it is more often like walking into a slightly hostile gathering where silliness is indulged and you have to tread gently before the”tone of your comment ” has you outside the door.

ninathenana Sun 30-Dec-18 10:07:05

I agree Maw

Bathsheba Sun 30-Dec-18 10:12:07

Succinctly put Maw. Exactly how I feel these days. Though I'm getting to the point where I need to be fortified by something a little stronger than a mug of tea wine

Jane10 Sun 30-Dec-18 10:16:14

I just avoid threads that look like they're re family or personal problems. Not ideal or fair to genuine posters but I'm just not for getting involved. I think GN is in more trouble than it realises. angry

Oldwoman70 Sun 30-Dec-18 10:30:41

I agree with what has been said. It does seem some posters make a comment and when someone else disagrees with that comment immediately take umbrage and complain they are being bullied. If someone disagrees with a comment I make I am more than happy for them to say so and I wouldn't resort to insults in reply

Gonegirl Sun 30-Dec-18 10:35:49

Can't believe this! I don't honk for on moment there are many trolls on here. Maybe a few posters who don't like to step outside their own twee little version of Gransnet.

Lisagran Sun 30-Dec-18 10:36:08

HQ - why have the (unnecessary) rude comments to nanaandgrampy on the Husband home for two weeks not been questioned / deleted? And similarly rude comment to Mawbroon on another thread yesterday? Seems to me posters - new and old - are being treated differently. This site needs to be a safe place for folks to share their opinions and advice and receive support if necessary - and at times have a laugh. Not a place you feel you have to gird your loins to enter!

Gonegirl Sun 30-Dec-18 10:37:21

No, I don't actually 'honk', although I haven't had my bath yet. ?

I (ocassionally) 'think'.

MawBroon Sun 30-Dec-18 10:37:44

I am so glad you don’t honk gonegirl - sauce for the goose? confused

Marydoll Sun 30-Dec-18 10:39:14

I totally agree with the previous comments.
Recently, all the joy has been sucked ofof GN, by some unpleasant posters, (I think they may be confusing GN with MN sad ) and fake threads.
I too am surprised by some deleted posts, yet other posts, which insult users are left.
