Is anyone else watching it? Looks interesting.

I liked it a bit of black humour and Keeley Hawes I’ll watch the rest I think.

shysal Mon 18-Jan-21 09:53:12

I watched the first episode and thought it rather silly, but think it is meant to be humorous. When it came to the final scene with the young man at the door I just had to watch the beginning of the next one and fear I shall be tempted to keep going over the next few days.

I enjoyed the dark humour; Keeley Hawes and the rest of the cast played it superbly. Looking forward to the next episode.

I liked it enough to stick with it, definitely.

I binge watched 4 episodes ...really hooked.

Knittynatter Mon 18-Jan-21 11:13:58

I’ve just finished episode 4 and am really enjoying it!

Calendargirl Mon 18-Jan-21 11:39:02

I will probably watch it on ITV hub, but stuck with The Serpent last night.

Trying to decide whether to watch this. Just watched all of the Durrell series and might be a bit overloaded on Keeley H.

merlotgran Mon 18-Jan-21 13:10:35

It reminds me a bit of the Welsh drama Keeping Faith where the husband is not all he seems and the wife's domestic life is chaotic.

Crossed with Ab Fab! grin

Iam64 Mon 18-Jan-21 13:18:16

Merlotgran, I have higher hopes but yes, reflections of keeping faith
I can’t imagine being bored with Keeley Hawes, she’s an actor and a very good one.
I loved her parents in Alice. The suggestion from episode 1 is she had a middle class upbringing. He didn’t. His parents have promise

rockgran Mon 18-Jan-21 14:06:57

Spot on merlogran! grin

Greyduster Mon 18-Jan-21 14:26:18

I will stick with this I think. I like Keeley Hawes, and also good to see Gemma Jones.

gillgran Mon 18-Jan-21 14:40:35

I watched last night, & intend to carry on over the next 6? weeks.
I do have a problem, after a week, to remember what happened the week before..!!
Lots of "secrets" coming out.!

Lucca Mon 18-Jan-21 19:23:09

Is anyone else a bit sick of Keeley hawes ?

Harris27 Mon 18-Jan-21 19:26:24

Yes me too Luca.

I don't understand why, when a good TV actor becomes successful, they seem to be cast in just about everything. It happened with Sarah Lancashire, Nicola Walker and Sheridan Smith.

Keeley Hawes will soon be starring in 'It's a Sin.' A Russell T Davies drama about the AIDS crisis in the eighties.

Calendargirl Mon 18-Jan-21 22:05:53

Sheridan Smith seems to have scaled down a bit. Some dog training programme, and I think she fronts an advert for something, can’t remember what.

I know she had a baby though, so probably reduced her workload.

You’re kidding.! So unfair on other actors too. It’s the same with presenters greg wallace everywhere you turn that Ryan/rylan person with the teeth....

Hetty58 Mon 18-Jan-21 22:20:20

I was so disappointed when I watched it. I thought it so cringingly silly.

The line up of actors looked promising - but such awkward roles. I won't bother with the rest.

Mapleleaf Mon 18-Jan-21 22:25:01

I don’t think I’ll watch any more episodes as I thought it was rather far fetched in parts - the stair case would not have passed health and safety regulations for a start, and the grieving wife would never have been spoken to in that manner by a mortuary attendant/doctor (I’m not sure what his role was, to be honest). Neither would he have put his woolly hat and scarf on the deceased, either! It’s these unrealistic details that irritate me.

Badgranma Mon 18-Jan-21 22:29:19

Nigeria Hager. Hahaha, I love predictive text........

Gwyneth Mon 18-Jan-21 22:34:37

It’s meant to be a dark comedy hence the woolly hat and scarf etc. I certainly didn’t recognise Gemma Jones as the Mum.

GagaJo Mon 18-Jan-21 23:03:04

The stairs and the combination lock gave me the creeps, as did his parents just waltzing in unannounced. Something fishy about them appearing from upstairs when she arrived home. Also the mother (Lumley). Why is she so cold?

Shandy57 Mon 18-Jan-21 23:08:09

I've just finished watching all six episodes - somehow it just misses the mark.

Eloethan Mon 18-Jan-21 23:56:55

It's had good reviews. I watched for about 15 minutes and decided it was very odd and I didn't like or believe in the characters. I'm a bit fed up with Keeley Hawes too.
