For those of us who have enjoyed this show and might not be aware that the final series consisting of 2 two hourly episodes is due to be shown with episode 1 this coming Sunday 26th Feb, and the final episode the following Sunday, 5th March.
Yet another great series coming to an end…

So..presumably he now will hopefully be involved bringing the corrupt down? big "Ask" tho.
Oh dear.. what happened in the US...

Have enjoyed Endeavour very much but nearly threw a brick at the screen last night.

When Morse was trying to track down who had borrowed the library book he asked the librarian about “lenders” ! The lender is the library, the people who take books out are the borrowers.

Thought this was pretty basic and surprised no one picked up this, to me, obvious mistake before it made it to the screen. I’m sure Morse wouldn’t have said that.

I’m sure Morse wouldn’t have said that.

Certainly not! Although he did not complete his degree course he did win a scholarship to Oxford.
He must have borrowed many books from the library over the years.

Oh dear, yes! That’s shocking Versavisa!

Oh dear. I think I'll have to rewatch the last series. How complicated it all seems. I do prefer to have an episode complete in itself.

LadyGracie Mon 06-Mar-23 21:16:32

We've gone back to series 2, to try and refresh our memories!

So have I.

merlotgran Mon 06-Mar-23 21:30:12

Not as far back as series 2 though.

Rosina Mon 06-Mar-23 22:01:38

Wyllow I can't recall his name either (not doing too well here!) but he was attempting something dangerous in a pub with London thugs and they killed him - he was involved with the WPC. I get the awful feeling that Fred Thursday is going to be revealed as less than perfect, and involved somehow, or shot dead, or both.

Wyllow3 Mon 06-Mar-23 22:06:39

I've heard that Fred fear elsewhere too.

Noooooo `I thought! I wondered if he would have a health event and have to retire!

The ending could actually be the wedding?

Callistemon21 Mon 06-Mar-23 22:37:15

So why is Strange's wife called Valerie?

LadyGracie Tue 07-Mar-23 00:20:37

Series 2 last episode is where all the action is regarding Blenheim.

I think it was Mrs Lewis who was called Valerie?

You're welcome merlotgran.

Now all I need to remember is who the young policeman is who has come back to life! And how And why?

I’m going to have to make notes. 😂

I had to look it up (but Rosina gave a summary on page 1)

I caught up with the latest episode yesterday and 2 things don't ring true - when he didn't get to the pub in time to meet Joan, I don't think he would have just given up and stayed chatting to the reporter woman - he would have gone to her flat to see her.

And secondly, with all the ongoing danger, at the end he wouldn't have opened the door late at night without checking first to see who was outside.

There are other things too - Thursday wouldn't still be wearing that hat in the late 60s/early 70s. It's not 1940!

Rosina Tue 07-Mar-23 09:58:28

Ah, but think of the situations when a thug (or six) become aggresive and overconfident with Fred Thrusday and then he says, with quiet menace 'I might 'ave to take my 'at off'. Next scene - Fred unperturbed and in the police station, and thugs left battered in a heap.

Calendargirl Tue 07-Mar-23 10:02:42

Fred must be well in his fifties by now. He might have been tough years ago, but think a few young gangsters would give him a bruising now though.

(This is in reply to Rosina)

Yes, I love those bits. do you remember when he went to his daughter's flat and "saw off" the lover of his still v young offspring?

But my favourite "see them off" was the one I call showdown at the OK coral, when Thursday, Endeavour et al face a row of men with guns, and who should turn up but the Anton Lesser character with a huge number of "z" cars. It was the last in one of the series.

Wyllow3 Tue 07-Mar-23 10:09:03

True, Calendergirl.

He often has a habit undoubtedly illegal of carrying his war gun somewhere about him?

Ah yes, thank you. Conspiracy theories abound on line! 😀
Don't believe any of them.
